    You gave me some wonderful pointers and I appreciate you! I’m near Austin TX and built a 110ft pond-less fall and stream across our front yard about 4 years ago. Every spring I’ve tried to make spring cleaning easier and effective, looking for that perfect process! You make it look easy but it is a necessary pain that needs to be done. On the bright side, we get 364 days and 18 hours a year of total enjoyment from it. Given the option, we’d do it all over again! Thank you!!

    Great video! Some thoughts: 1) What's left of the biofilm that took months to build and supposedly helps againsts string-algae? 2) Wouldn't a much less invasive and expensive option be to pond-vac? Admittedly, I'm using a Oase pondovac 4, but not really happy about it. Would love to see an affordable, professional option that actually works also for larger ponds...

      We rinse down all filter mats with pond water to keep all the good bacteria for filtration. But it can be good to get rid of some of the algae in the pond too. It's really all about filtration, with wetland filters, you may not have to do as many cleanouts. For example, our signature pond at Aqualand has only had one full cleanout ever! Plus, doing all the rinsing really ensures we are getting all the detritus and muck out of the feature, rather than just vacuuming essentially the top.

    How frequently would a full drain clean-out be necessary? Lets say for a 25000 gallon pond with a 2000 gallon wetland and large separate pump skimmer, which is connected to jets.

      @TEAMAquascape  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It really depends on how much debris is falling into your pond and how much upkeep you are doing with it. If you take 15 minutes each week to empty your skimmer basket, pick out/net out larger debris, and dose regularly with Beneficial Bacteria, you may only need to once a year if that. Our signature pond at Aqualand has only been completely drained with a cleanout like this once and the water is still so clear!

    If you are using a doser system and have an ion gen and/or iv light, does this still need done?

    • @TEAMAquascape
      @TEAMAquascape  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not necessarily, but may still need it. Just depends on the water feature!

    Is there anyway possible way to have a aquascape set up with a filtering system so that no matter what, customers wouldn't need to call for maintenance repairs every spring?
    I'd love to have my own aquascape one day, but is the upkeep low?

      Maintenance is 100% dependent on customers expectations and desires.
      Remember in Chicagoland most of these ponds have been turned off all winter. Spring Cleanouts replicate what happens in nature with the increased rains and the flushing of natural waterways.

    I love Jack and enjoyed the video, but I think y'all are leaving a lot on the table when it comes to maintenance season. Why not rent the equipment to "certified" customers and cut the labor costs. Make a system that can be duplicated by other CACs around the country (and globe). Some people enjoy being hands on and saving money doing it themselves.

      Rentable pond vac / demucker would make easy cash even outside of maintenance season. I do not understand why it is not part of the equipment used on big job.
