    Wow. Thank you. It worked! I actually used a cotton swab which I knew might be a risk, but it worked! My camera had the black dots and I tried cleaning it before. I did not know that I needed to lock/close the lens to access the screen. Thanks for your help.

    It really helps to turn your camera off when changing lenses. Also make sure lenses are clean, and if you have a zoom, that the barrel of the lens is dust free, as when the lens moves in and out, it can pull dust into the body.

    some of us have older APS-H sensors (1D, 1D mark IIn) it seems you can't get kits for this sensor size anymore...kinda sucks.

    Is there a best aperture to test if I e gotten all of the dust out? Does wide open aperture harder to see dust spots? Or should I stop down to f14 and then check a sample shot?

    • @theschoolofphotography

      Hi Tony, it won't make much of a difference, the spots will show regardless. Hope that helps

    The number one tip. Don't change lenses in dusty environments. One reason superzooms are popular.

    Hi with that cleaning kit your using, I have purchased one and they say on the back of the packet that it can damage the camera sensor. did you check the back of pack?

    • @rodpatterson3751
      @rodpatterson3751 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think what it says is the following items (those listed under the comment) can cause damage, not this product.

    Of course there is the option to get a camera with an anti-dust system that works ... I've never had to clean a sensor in over ten years using my cameras and changing lenses in dusty, sandy or water splash environments.

    Is there not a contradiction in your presentation where you stated at the start that you would use the compressed air on the outside of the camera, and "not on the inside, that's for sure' and then proceeded to use it on the inside? My own view is that using compressed air inside the camera is risky due to the possibility of liquid being sprayed as well and the powerful air jet forcing dirt further into the camera body.
