I feel that there is a misunderstanding about how the "very fine" Setting works. It doesnt just give the object a random anomalous quality it makes the thing BETTER in an anomalous way. It made a gun into a a super gun, it turned metal into unbreakable metal and it certainly wouldn't turn something safe into something dangerous and urelated to the original object. And here most of the assumptions were that this setting will turn safe objects into monsters.
yeah people want to put it on very fine, but dont understand that's not what you want, you want to put it on fine as that generally improves the object you're putting in, better.

Still plugging for my favorite SCP to get covered: SCP-370! A weird, creepy, highly dangerous memetic hazard! My favorite and the one that epitomizes the Foundation in my mind, even more than "classic" SCPs like 682.
What if you put an object in on "fine" and then take it out and put it back in on the same setting? Will it just keep improving slightly without anomalies or will the second go just be the equivalent of putting it in on "very fine" once?
Honestly, that last quote about us being "very fine" got me thinking about what the average SCP Explained viewer would become if put through on the very fine setting. Maybe we'd become reality shifters who create a universe just for the SCP Explained universe, VAs, and art. Or maybe we'd just be anomalous humans, since watching SCP Explained isn't necessarily a character trait (PS. Your team is awesome and deserves a nice day.)
Here’s a dumb idea, but something that I bet Dr. Bright would be all to happy to try - use SCP 914 to play “The Wikipedia Game” by putting a random object, say a wristwatch, and see how many shifts on 1:1 it takes before you get to, I dunno, a sundial
Put an uncompleted document on one of the more difficult to research anomalies and put it on fine, and see if you can safely study different SCPs this way.
Someone suggested that and the foundation refused saying that while that might work but it could also possibly kill her or worse. So they don’t for her sake
I feel like a lot of people misunderstand the difference between the "fine" and the "very fine" settings. One of them improves stuff, the other one is "anomalous chaos" "Fine" is to turn a banana cupcake into a chocolate walnut cake. "Very fine" is to turn it into scp 871
I was thinking the same. Also, déjà vu. I feel like I've watched a similar video in the past and people didn't understand how things work back then either.
I know this is kind of unrelated, but i feel like a drawing of scp 096 in 1:1 would become a another drawing of another scp, instead of a real photo of it.
You guys need to review how the clockworks works. It conserves mass and energy, and the very fine setting doesn’t necessarily just make the thing anomalous, but makes it a significantly improved version of itself. Take the DnD sheet for instance. Compare it with the paper that had a burger order on it. The burger order turned into something that made the viewer crave burgers. The DnD sheet would probably be some kind of interactive hologram of the character exactly as the creator imagined them, where all the data would automatically adjust as the players go through the campaign
Maybe. I feel like "Fine" would be the way to go with that one. It'd probably either optimize your stats and organize the sheet so that it's as easy as possible for you to find whatever you're looking for, or it might just make a better character for you
I mean, one of SCP-914's defining traits is that it makes no sense and messes with people. It's incredibly chaotic, and the only pattern it follows is that there is no pattern. The only reliable thing is that each setting has a theme it keeps to, and that it obeys the laws of physics to some capacity.
I have a suggestion! If the ‘fine’ setting improves the object inputted, why not put SCP 999 into it? Or maybe put Michael Reeves through the machine on ‘fine’.
@@burntcookies4863 is lil TNails short for lilToeNails what led to you taking on the name lilToeNails anyway Edit: wait a minute you don't eat toe nails do you?
The foundation needs to infuse their task force with Armstrong's Nanomachines so they could combat the dangerous SCPs more efficiently. Try putting a former college ball player and a sailor to fine or very fine settings to create him.
After what he said about putting him in on very fine and a new video every few minutes, that makes me want to do it even more. This channel's content is amazing. I could watch it for hours.
I'm fairly certain the way very fine works is it improves it. Anomalously Putting it thru in fine alot would just gradually upgrade it till it just reaches a peak possibly
@@doot7730 Pretty much, yeah. Fine is an improvement and may rarely have some mild anomalous properties. It's what you want if you just want improved quality. Very Fine is basically the "surprise me" option, where it's willing to break reality.
Honestly, get every weapon that packed a punch against SCP-682 and put it in SCP-914 on the setting "Very Fine" to see if the anomalous upgrade is any better at dealing with the beast.
Take the weapon and put it on fine like 10 times, till it reaches peak levels of power, then put it on very fine and repeat with fine (if result is positive) Then, roll the 200 sided dice and hope for a 1, that you succeed in killing 682. If not, welp, you tried I guess
If you're going to do another one of these then I'll give you my opinion. I for one would put a block of tungsten in it on the fine setting. Since tungsten is almost as dense as gold and harder than steel and extremely scratch resistant and has a melting point of over 3000 degrees Fahrenheit it would be interesting to see if it turns it into the strongest, most lightweight and most heat resistant material in the universe. Also the very fine setting could yield some interesting results as well, maybe an indestructible robot capable of lifting mountains and with shape shifting abilities and with the ability to fly, kinda like iron man. And maybe some tungsten carbide on fine and very fine could be just as interesting. It would also be interesting to see it go in on 1:1, all in the name of SCIENCE!
And here's an idea for you, a probable outcome for the tungsten on very fine would be either tungsten that turns the world or animals to tungsten. So ultimately you could've made a keter class anomoly for it. Also what you are thinking of is doing something for mad science, and emphasis on the word, mad.
@@RoxasKnight What about 5000 on fine and very fine? It would also be fascinating to see what components the SCP Foundation from another timeline used to create it.
@@nopity3057 it might be interesting to put the item on fine or very fine but would you be fine with being the cause of the deaths of potentially billions just because the item put in the scp machine turned into something that ends life on earth. If you don't want to cause the death of millions or end all life on earth then the answer for anything put on fine or very fine will always be that using the fine or very fine setting is a very bad idea.
@@RoxasKnight I mean if the SCP Foundation originally created 5000 it means that the repercussions are their own for having caused it to exist. Scp-914. Rather than what most suggest or claim perhaps we should try improving upon the nutritional quality of food. Instead of already cooked food one could place fruit trees or vegetable plants in. This would hopefully increase the flavor and nutritional value of said plant. Another option would the seeds. Perhaps it would improve the chances of survival and or the durability. (Plant them in a desert no problem.) Another option is, improve the seeds and plant them. Grow the plants and then place said plants into SCP-914. Yet another option is to place oil into SCP-914. Positive outcome would be a self filling barrel of oil. Negative outcome is that it continues forever.
I feel like the fruits would just come out prepared in some way with additional nutrition and seeds would be flowering plants if put on the right setting
I wanna know what happens if you stick something, anything, in on Fine. Then, just repeatedly place the result back in on Fine over and over. How far does it go? Does Fine ever reach an anomalous level if the input is exceptional enough? Perhaps an item that's been reFined enough can influence the results from the Very Fine setting in a positive manner.
If a piano were put in and the machine set to Very Fine, what would come out would not be a piano monster, but a piano that, when played, would hypnotize people or make them commit suicide in despair at never hearing such sweet tones again or something.

Too risky and well it wasn’t just that the box was destroyed but the reality that was known as fantasy was too hostile and the good inhabitants decided to destroy the only gateway…the box…so putting the box in might create a gateway to fantasy and possibly unleash every horror that was causing problems there
Dr. K.P.: This may be a farfetched idea, but what would happen if you put in a sample from SCP-261 on Rough, Coarse, 1:1, or Fine? I'm interested in seeing the different outcomes.

And yeah, the entirety of Big Boo's Haunt was clearly put in on very fine. Also, I'd put the NFT in with the rough setting. Turn it to dust. Plus, these guys don't realize what "Very Fine" does.
I'm curious to see what a non-anomalous improvement would be considered for an anomalous material. As an example (and I understand Thaumiel SCPs are considered too rare & valuable to "waste" on experimentation, but...) what would be the result of inputting Telekill Steel through 914 on the fine setting?
SCP-914 is in my Top Five Favourite SCPs, and I'm really enjoying the ongoing series you're making around them. I Love your Channel, and you have so many Awesome videos, and I hope you continue to make many more!
I think there is a misunderstanding about the very fine setting there. It doesn't make everything dangerous. Very fine improves way more the object's base nature compared to fine settings. The original examples make it clear: they put a regular gun on very fine setting, and it came out capable of vaporizing any kind of matter. It does not gain sentience and murders everything, just its power escalated. The problem with humans tested becoming abominations is simply because humans have two primal instincts: fear and hatred. The machine improved not only their physical attributes, but also their emotions to a point they cannot rationalize anymore. Putting water on very fine wouldn't make it obliterate everything around - it would either make it pure H2O (which cannot be drank) or something which could host millions of different microbes and become poisonous to humans. But nothing much beyond that.
With the water, it would become that only on fine. On very fine it would probably be able to stop a forest fire with one drop, a sip could permanently cure your thirst, or perhaps it just never runs out of water.
The item not always but usually retains some essence of its subjective meaning given to it by humans. In the case of a piano being put in there it would most probably give you something that has to do with music however It might change the piano to a little watch with a tiny piano ringtone that makes people want to watch tom and Jerry when they hear it. SCP 941 also analyzes the subjective meaning of all of its component parts so string, wood, plastic, etc so it might impose one of those meanings of one or multiple of those parts on to the new object that it creates but regardless it will use an equal amount of material. So putting in a grand piano means you're just as likely to get something that has to do with the wood that the piano is made out of rather than the piano itself but it has to be a part of one of the subjective meanings of the object and or it's component parts.
If you put in an active camera on 1:1, and then used 1:1 on the result, maybe you could find out if the machine teleports items on that setting or just creates and destroys them.
At 13:30 when they were talking about the possible results with Scp-999, I would like to inform that they did do tests with 999's slime and the very fine one made a small blue slime that attacked people and was only subdued thanks to 999's help. I believe that Scp Explained forgot about what 914 typically does to living biology; it make the subject aggressive.
I loved the time they ran 049 (my favorite) through there. He got wings and genuinely could HELP people instead of always killing them. I hope there's another story like that.
Suggestions- Put any ordinary object through on 'Fine' repeatedly, incrementally upgrading it until it begins to edge into anomalous territory. Alternatively, and I suggest doing this in Zero G and a vacuum to avoid the obvious risks, consider putting the acid used to contain a certain difficult to destroy lizard. As its current form keeps him in a near equilibrium, and he hasn't adapted to it yet, improving the acid could begin to win a war of attrition with the beast. It's unlikely it could adapt to this if it can't adapt to the acid it's already in. Fine would be the safest way to contain it, Very Fine however, could yield better results... if it doesn't burn through the fabric of reality. Or if you just want to roll the dice, any life form infected with SCP 217 on Fine or Very Fine. Or perhaps SCP 049's doctor bag on Fine. If he agrees. After all, you wouldn't want to be rude. Who knows, it may help his research... And an SCP 049-2 on Very Fine could be quite the research opportunity indeed. Lastly, has 'Coarse' been considered to dispose of a certain angry sculpture or grumpy teleporting old man? The last one may be a bit of a problem to get to remain in there.
How would putting it in zero-G reduce any risk? A gun will still fire in zero-G. A bomb will still explode in zero-G. In fact, most things on Earth still function in zero-G.
I think that putting a katana (with the sheath for power cell storage) through the fine setting multiple times might just give you the HF blade from MGR for when you can't quite cut through something. Or someone. Like that 50 foot politician you've told about in this episode.

I feel like putting the writer of SCP - Explained would create a phone app similar to MalO, but instead of being a creepy vaguely attractive (if you’re into that sort of thing) werewolf lady that stalks you and you can’t get rid of after 70 sum hours, it’s an app that also can’t be deleted, can’t be removed from app stores, and explains and identifies currently known SCPs, as well as identifies and locates anomalous objects through phone notifications, maybe masking itself as a story app, that generates new stories of different genres for users to read, prompting them to open the app and read up. Once downloaded it’s notifications can be ignored, but are indefinite. Unless the device is powered off, in which it blasts the user with all the stuff they missed once the device is powered back on. It could both a blessing and a curse to the foundation, as since it’s a database of all known and up and coming SCPs, but it could lead to things like say…a 100% accurate facial depiction of 096? Potentially giving SCP-079 an immediate gateway to the internet? Giving the general public extensive information on the foundation, it’s secrets, names of staff and potentially 05 council, locations of SCPs, and locations of nearby SCPs, to which some poor schmuck decides to check out that wacky “Infinite IKEA”, since it’s near his area and it can’t be real. Could be the foundations new greatest asset, or the next new disaster waiting to happen.
I don’t believe the cupcake would turn into a whole cake, since physics still apply to anything that comes out of it, which is why I’m not surprised that putting a dnd character in wouldn’t make it into an actual person. Be funny though to see the paper man running around as the dnd character.
I'd try to talk Dr. Jack Bright into going through the machine on very fine, just to see what kind of entertainment would come from it. Shits and giggles for the win.
The DND character sheet would just make a paper doll that would share the characteristic of what was on the paper, like the paper doll would be super strong or somehow Super Wise, and if it was evil it would probably release every scp in the foundation!
With the d&d spreadsheet one it actually wouldn't ignore what's on the paper. It would most likely more the paper into whatever was on it so you'd literally have a paper version of your d&d character walking around.
Damn it, I missed this community post. Anyway, retroactively, here's one thing that makes sense. - grab cutting edge technological or medical marvel. - put it in the machine, turn it up to Fine. - take the obviously improved tech gadget or medical drug. I’d like to point out that while yes the Very fine setting is unpredictable it is usually predictable in the sense that it would be an actual improvement on what was put into the machine a cup cake might change to something that tastes much like the best drink in the world that can be produced by the vending machine and so the one eating it would die and the piano might turn into a sentient advanced instrument that teaches you how to play it but won’t let you leave until it is satisfied that you know how to play it properly.
Pretty sure it's the formwr
I think the piano would come alive, like you said, but instead it would become a sentient self-playing piano that could play impossible songs.

Your team is awesome and deserves a nice day.)
if a person is put through SCP-914 they will become the perfect human for a short amount of time before dying
Here’s a dumb idea, but something that I bet Dr. Bright would be all to happy to try - use SCP 914 to play “The Wikipedia Game” by putting a random object, say a wristwatch, and see how many shifts on 1:1 it takes before you get to, I dunno, a sundial
Very fine repeatedly maybe
Put an uncompleted document on one of the more difficult to research anomalies and put it on fine, and see if you can safely study different SCPs this way.
That's what I always thought
Just what I thought. Write an instruction manual to your best ability on 914 and then put it on Fine. Or take Game of Thrones (season Eight) on Fine.
Maybe putting Cassie on the “fine” or “very fine” setting might bring her into the real world as a person and she can finally be happy

I feel like a lot of people misunderstand the difference between the "fine" and the "very fine" settings. One of them improves stuff, the other one is "anomalous chaos"
"Fine" is to turn a banana cupcake into a chocolate walnut cake.
"Very fine" is to turn it into scp 871
I was thinking the same.
Also, déjà vu. I feel like I've watched a similar video in the past and people didn't understand how things work back then either.

It'd probably either optimize your stats and organize the sheet so that it's as easy as possible for you to find whatever you're looking for, or it might just make a better character for you
@@cindygauthier8567 SCP-914: Wow dude, your character sucks, here's a better one

I mean, one of SCP-914's defining traits is that it makes no sense and messes with people. It's incredibly chaotic, and the only pattern it follows is that there is no pattern. The only reliable thing is that each setting has a theme it keeps to, and that it obeys the laws of physics to some capacity.

Pretty much, yeah. Fine is an improvement and may rarely have some mild anomalous properties. It's what you want if you just want improved quality. Very Fine is basically the "surprise me" option, where it's willing to break reality.

You might also get Osmium when putting tungsten on fine, which behaves kinda like tungsten but even denser and harder
(Plant them in a desert no problem.)
Another option is, improve the seeds and plant them. Grow the plants and then place said plants into SCP-914.
Yet another option is to place oil into SCP-914. Positive outcome would be a self filling barrel of oil. Negative outcome is that it continues forever.

The plants would become carnivorous to acquire more nutrition.
That's... interesting
This next experiment will be very, very interesting. What do you two think?

How did the foundation not think about putting the ``here be dragons`` box before it destroyed itself???
Too risky and well it wasn’t just that the box was destroyed but the reality that was known as fantasy was too hostile and the good inhabitants decided to destroy the only gateway…the box…so putting the box in might create a gateway to fantasy and possibly unleash every horror that was causing problems there

So y’all forgot that 914’s “very fine” setting made it anomalous and life threatening?
Very fine isn't always dangerous. It's just a possibility, because the results are so random.

Better yet, on the rough setting to reverse engineer it

12:36 They might even receive air support from the paper plane 💀💀💀
If you put in an active camera on 1:1, and then used 1:1 on the result, maybe you could find out if the machine teleports items on that setting or just creates and destroys them.

At 13:30 when they were talking about the possible results with Scp-999, I would like to inform that they did do tests with 999's slime and the very fine one made a small blue slime that attacked people and was only subdued thanks to 999's help. I believe that Scp Explained forgot about what 914 typically does to living biology; it make the subject aggressive.
I heard a person talking about that, but they never mentioned that the bule scp 999 was attacking them.
I loved the time they ran 049 (my favorite) through there. He got wings and genuinely could HELP people instead of always killing them. I hope there's another story like that.
Suggestions-
Put any ordinary object through on 'Fine' repeatedly, incrementally upgrading it until it begins to edge into anomalous territory.
