  • Oswald the Lucky Rabbit (also known as Oswald the Rabbit, Oswald Rabbit, Ozzie) is an animated cartoon character created in 1927 by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks for Universal Pictures. He starred in several animated short films released to theaters from 1927 to 1938. Twenty-seven animated Oswald shorts were produced at the Walt Disney Studio.[11] After Universal took control of Oswald's character in 1928, Disney created a new character similar in appearance to Oswald as a replacement: Mickey Mouse, who went on to become one of the most famous cartoon characters in the world.

Oswald reminds me of *The Life of Brian* a film which tells the story of a young Judaean man who is born on the same day as, and next door to, Jesus. Similar to the movie *Amadeus* in premise only, Brian is the Antonio Salieri to Jesus' Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, everything else is much, much sillier because it's done by the Monty Python troupe. Actually, now that Mickey and Oswald are beyond copyright, someone should make a parody movie of them as Mozart and Salieri, set in a Roger Rabbit-esque world.
The guy sent to interview him doesn't recognize any of the cartoons he's listing off: "All Wet? Oh What a Knight? Great Guns? Trolley Troubles? The Mechanical Cow? The Ocean Hop? Ozzie of the Mounted? Sky Scrappers? Alpine Antics? Bright Lights?" nope, never heard of them. Oswald starts whistling "Steamboat Bill," the song, not even mentioning the cartoon by name, and the guy's face lights up, "Oh yeah, you were in Steamboat Willie? Were you one of the animals used as musical instruments?" Cue rage face.
You know what, I'm gonna go get my agent on the phone, nobody steal my idea, just because it's copyright free, okay?
