    Would like to see a video of what you have to do to move to a new location. All you have to pack up, load up and hitch up just to be able to hit the road.

      They have made a video or two about the pack up and load out process along with a series of checklists of what to start doing beginning 24 hours ahead of time. The checklists are great for staying organized and not forgetting something important.

    No Words. LOLOL.......
    Have pulled many boat trailers being in Florida, but we are about to pull the trigger on a Redwood 4150RD 5th Wheel (just picked up the F450 today) so I started doing the 'due diligence' part of understanding how they tow differently, hitching, GVWR, etc......and quickly ended up in a rabbit hole of videos for campsites, grills, wheels, suspensions, definitive accessories, etc. Right away I noticed 80% of the time I was on your page with one of your videos.
    I can't thank you enough - I am a 'project guy' who cannot be idle, and with everything that Chad has done, I have a new found appreciation for all of the things I will get to do and upgrade. LOVE this. You both are amazing - inspirational - and incredibly helpful. THANK you.
    My girlfriend and I can work from anywhere and are now empty nesters, so we will looking for your Momentum out on the roads. Best wishes and CHEERS.

    My wife and I just purchased the Grand Design 379th. We have had many RV,S over the years but none of them met our needs completely. We also ride motorcycles. I have followed you for several years and you guys played a very large part in our decision to buy the 397th. We have dreamed about having one for several years and now it is a reality. Thank you for all of your videos. You guys are such an inspiration for us.

      It's not really expensive if you live in it full time. It would be the same as keeping up a 120k house. Which that's a pretty cheap house. Alot of expenses are cut as well. No lawn care. No property taxes. No utility payments besides renting a spot at a campground, which if you rent monthly is actually very cheap. I would love to do this once my kids are out of the house. Super chill lifestyle.

    • @TheWoodPekr
      @TheWoodPekr 3 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      @@grant8490 very true, just to Grand designs website and you can do a build and price and for what i picked out and i got it at $152,388 which if you get good interest rate, good credit and and a decent down payment then you can possibly get a monthly payment of 12 to $1,400. I'd say thats pretty damn good i think since you have no other bills that come with a home.

    • @grant8490
      @grant8490 3 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      @@TheWoodPekr Yup. Also, when you build and price on the website, it is giving you the MSRP. Which 99% of the time is way over what you can purchase them for through a dealership. My brother is shopping for a fifth wheel toy hauler right now and they sell, on average, about 20 to 25k below msrp. Especially if the dealership has a sale going on, which they almost always do. Lol It is a pretty affordable lifestyle.

      Just a short story on those raccoons , there's a reason they have that bandit looking face. They will steal you blind. When we first started camping in a van at Fort Pickens National Park , Pensacola Florida in the 1970's . I was a E-4 Buck Sargeant. We put our coolers outside the van and put some stuff on the lids. 2 of them , one for dry stuff and the other with ice. We woke up with a trail of sugar (5 lb bag) from the cooler into the woods . The eggs , bacon, bread you name it the raccoons cleaned us out. Lucky we were with some friends who shared there food with us. The moral of the story is never trust anything that's got a full time bandits mask on. They may look cute but that's only to make you feel trusting. They will be back with friends during darkness.

    like you said, the patio has a function. You showed it perfectly. The dog itching for fresh air but you are editing a video. You can let the dog out the patio and keep and eye on the pup. Where you camp you might have a wild racoon that could hurt your dog if you just chained it up normally out of the door on the ground. Just set a potty pad in the corner for the dog to do his/her business and that solves it all.

      I've driven a lot of British backcountry roads in a small car. It was ... interesting. But, I've seen truckers negotiate those same roads in a decent sized lorry and was suitably impressed. So, a lot of it comes down to skill ... and nerves of steel. Personally, I haven't got the guts to drive one of these massive 5th wheels even on a 4-lane Interstate. My hat is off to those folks who can take them into the backcountry.

    I watch a good bit of videos for insight to help with my work in upgrading, repairing and maintaining RVs for clients. The difficulty in watching videos is the consistency in couples full timing and being so proud of themselves for it that it requires so much patience just to surf through their self promotion to get to useful information. You both do an incredible job of being on point, forward moving, as well as truly compliment each other, rather than the usual competition and sarcasm. Way to style constructive insight w/o being flat or overdramatic. You've def honed what works, inside and outside the RV journey.

      Get some good wheel clamps, take the wheel with you when leaving for multiple hours, get a good alarm system, add extra locks, add multiple trackers and cameras, etc and you shouldn’t have a problem. Also, keep your key secure in a metal box of it’s a push to start just so people unable to use a relay machine. If you have a really old van/rv, there are ways to stop people from hot wiring it, if it’s not push to start however it is new then your rv can’t be stolen unless someone tows it which is be surprised if someone did lol.

Most thief's steal whole truck and trailer not just trailer. And for most making payments you have to have full coverage until it's paid that full coverage, covers theft.

    To each their own. I live in my hermitage here in the desert. Built by me and don’t venture out anymore. However did enough of that when I was younger.

    Great video. Upgraded our mattress with Mattress Insider after your earlier video. Ordering the mattress was super easy. Swapping the mattress was much easier than expected. Mentioned ya'll so hope they were good to you. If anyone else buys a mattress ask them if the Veteran/First Responder discount is still valid.

    This was a wonderful segment…don’t want to show hubby tho, he already hates camping……on top of which we had an expensive repair from our last camping trip…….if he saw what else could Happen, I would never hear the end of it. 🙇‍♀️

    WOW!! So cool to get to design one!!
    We've always discounted toy haulers because of the shortcomings of the living space. This one could become a contender in our search for our full-time RV.

    I have noticed a lot of people painting their rvs because they dont.like the brown. I had thought about it also after 6 years full time inside my rv, but looking at how cozy you guys have made the place even with the brown and tan walls just by adding decor in color makes me want to keep the same. Thanks for sharing.

    While I'd be look'n good to be half this size... the principal remains the same. Don't be afraid to "CUSTOMIZE"!! My only concern is that your trapped with Dewalt.
    I'm a Milwaukee/Ryobi guy. With the Ryobi system I can drill, cut, sanitize, wash, buff, fan, mist/cool and light up everything from a single battery platform. Thanks so much for the advice and technical; everything you do is with a purpose.

    I've been perusing Super C motor homes, and my significant other mentioned that a 5th wheel would allow you to park the shelter portion and continue driving the truck locally, which she would prefer. I begrudgingly started looking through 5th wheels, and WOW. I don't even know what to say. I guess the Super C is more all-in-one and meant to be more mobile, and the 5th wheels are meant to be brought to a place and parked for a while. The only thing that I still like about Super Cs compared to something like this is the inside access between shelter and cab. The ability to not have to leave the vehicle at all is appealing. But to have essentially a house that you can tow from place to place.... That's really cool. And this is definitely bigger and more house-like than ANY of the Super Cs I have been looking at.

    When I see extravagance like this, I wonder where all the money comes from. The upfront cost, the fuel, the maintenance ; my God! Maybe I'm just envious, but this is on a whole different financial means level that I know. They are the anti-Bob Wells!

      The RV and truck together were $150K which was way less than our house. Our expenses now are about the same as they were in the house... just different expenses.

    Nice job on the shelf woodwork! Something that might help that I did for our RV. The cabinets on the island where you need access to the back. pick up keyboard tray rails from Amazon. Then build the tray out of wood to fit. I even added a 3-inch lip to help hold things in place. The keyboard trays are sturdy enough to handle cleaning supplies and such, plus they lock into place when closed to help on travel days. I used solid wood (oak), stained to match and they look really well done. Total cost about $50-60. Love all the upgrades you all have done. Gave me a few more ideas on things we need to do as well!

    It is a beautiful RV and Grand Design makes a great unit with the Momentum. When we were starting to look for one the only thing we couldn't get past (besides the prices!) was the same thing Tara said.....the living room. Then we saw the Heartland Cyclone 4005 and 4006 toy haulers. WOW what a living room and kitchen area. Check them out! As it turned out we didn't get either because we didn't want a dually as our daily driver and the PRICE of the toy haulers. We ended up with a Montana and an F-350 diesel with SRW. Maybe next time the toy hauler will win out, besides we wanted a second bathroom for full time. Enjoy, and hope to see you guys on the road some day!

    I use lids from totes for shelves so I can just pull the lid out with the stuff on it rather than digging around a cabinet were you would've to get on the floor. I also use on under the sinks so if something leaks it will hold it. Be it the bold of soap etc or the sink itself.

    Cool trip back through the GD, especially with the changes. It’s amazing what great shape it’s in although it’s no surprise. Y’all take such great care of your home and it shows. I think my favorite thing is still the set of MORryde morgue uhh, I mean cargo drawers in the basement. 😜 And Chad, great idea with the Blackstone. It’ll save that back in the long run. Tara, you’ve done a great job organizing every cubby and nook to make room. Lots of original ideas. Awesome new tour guys. Thanks for another good one. Troy
