My father was a medic in Belgium at the end of World War 2. He told me about seeing some members of the 17th Airborne. There shoulder patch was a bird claw. It did not seem like too many survived to go home.
My father was a grunt in the 17th, he made it home after escaping from a Nazi camp. Before that he took part in some vicous fighting and earned a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. He said the medics were phenominal.
Thanks for his Service!! I attend these walks every year, and up till last year we still had Veterans flying over and participating in these remebrance walks (not the walk itself but the ceremonies of course)
Thanks, next couple of months, we have again such walks from the 83rd infantery division, 82nd Airborne and the 17th Airborne division. Will try to shoot some video agian during these walks/rememberance events
