Pat - this was made in 1978, it was sold with a pair of MCS speakers for $399.00. This produces 33 watts per channel RMS, 2 channels driven at 8 ohms, 20-20 KHz with not more then 0.8% total harmonics, so you nailed it, good job! :) Just a FYI, I run a pair of MCS speakers everyday, for the past 15 plus years...my PC is connected to a head unit (currently a JCPenny's DUT I repaired), this allows me to watch YT videos loud and proudly and music....occasionally I'll flip over to the BCB....I am very-very happy with these speakers...they make the walls rattle, would buy more if I had the room. Hope that helps some. ~Jack, VEG
Thanks Jack,VEG. So little information on these on the forums or google. Some say Technics made them others say NEC or maybe someone else. It did look well built. There was a set of speakers next to them at the yard sale where I found this. But I didn't look at them because space is tight in my play room.
very nice job, i have a similar one that needs some cleaning and changing the bulbs, i can't really find much on how to change them on this or similar model, do you happen to have some resources? thank you!
Thanks for watching. There is very little information on MCS. I got the LED lights from Parts Express. www.parts-express.com/12-volt-t10-wedge-led-warm-white-lamps-5-pack--070-138. I think I had to solder them in. Some of the rubber boots fell apart as I took the out so I used some glue to hold the boots together.
@@patrickoconnell3896 Thank you so much for your response and for the website, very informative and helpful. Would you happen to also have information on humming? mine is doing that and I'm not sure if I'll need to replaces the caps or do something with the power unit.
K is correct, JCPennys...I do not know for sure the head units were Hitachi, but I do know for sure the MCS speakers are made by Hitachi...I have a pair of MCS, awesome speakers, run them daily for at least the past 15 years daily. ~Jack, VEG

That volume knob looks just like my Hitachi sr-2004, who made these for them?
Some help i recently bought a mcs 3223 and i am having problems with a thump sound when i turn it on.
I switch the speaker selector to Headphones before turning the unit on or off. This eliminates the thump.
