Why do they need to install the casing till the end of the hole? They can just install the casing for the first 20 ft or so, then drill the remaining hole without casing. The soil at depth more than 20 ft will be highly compressed because of the weight of the soil on top of it. Thus, it will not collapse to inside the hole even if there is no casing. Anyone can explain for me plz?
Thanks Nikki Briones for your comment. But they did not do any dewatering from the casing. Also, they left the casing segments piece by piece while the concrete is still in its fresh state. So, I'm not really sure if it's related to contamination. What do you think?
Depending to the strata of soil as per soil investigation reports. Sometimes the soil below 20 ft. is sandy, sure they will provide casing in order not to collapse.
Bauer are working on a new road project in my home town, seems the rock is much harder, than what was expected, so they are months behind on the work involved, very interesting to watch, but progress is slow .
Lets say 20 years the 3 foot wide concrete pillars rebar is rusted away and along comes a nice earth quake that shatters the 60 to 90 foot pillars. Would you not have been wiser to use wider footers to account for load conditions of the soil in the first place. I guess my question is what is the life expectancy of the pillars under normal load and was earthquakes ever factored in.

Its done to support the building from the hard strata below the ground. Some soil will not have sufficient capacity to hold buildings so piling is done. Also its not just cement, they actually put a steel cage inside.
Is it just me or is there a lot of time where if two rigs had room to operate side be side the operation could be done more swiftly. Granted I know little about the actual methods etc

Точно, шмотки отбиваю молотком от бетона после работы.этот способ бурения применяется в основном для высоток.
