What a cool story. I really liked this one. I feel bad for the main character, though, never seeing his family again. I was hoping he had a sibling that was still alive, maybe a little brother or sister. Someone to know he had survived. But at least he wasn't stuck on the streets.
That was an amazing story! That lightning bolt could have been stuck there for thousands of years before those kids found it. Only that there wasn't anybody else trapped in the time field that we can believe they were the first to find it
I expected one of the protagonists in the beginning to say: "Yo, Mister Pemberton!? Could it be that there is a supermassive black hole underneath the classroom? 'Coz your lesson is taking forever!"

Fantastic story! I absolutely love it! Though I am surprised that nobody ever searched the woods for the children and stumbled over the anomaly. Also: Imagine Grandpa Rupert, who suffers from dementia, wanders into a stranger's home and those people have nothing better to do than to throw him out. What assholes!
