Listen, I would watch you fill up a truck with fuel at this point because of all of the machining topics that you have covered over the years... I just wanted to say that your wife has the absolute best and outlook on life. It's refreshing. I dont need to tell you this, but its uncommon.
I grew up in Sioux Falls and they have done lot’s of work to the park in the last 15-20 years when I was a kid it was a place you did not want to be. It really nice now. It even better when there is more water. I’ve been there when the water is so high you can’t even talk to the person next to you because it so loud from the water rushing down the falls.
The Big Sioux River flows towards and meets the Mississippi in Sioux City. I always try to imagine what it was like when the first people who discovered places like this thought and what it looked like way back then. Great video. Keep it up!
We are glad you enjoyed the falls. The falls usually has more water. Unfortunately, we have been in a drought for the last 2 years. It is a beautiful place. At Christmas time they decorate with lights.
If anyone is wondering at the low water levels passing over the falls note that the majority of the Big Sioux river flow was diverted a few miles north to not flow through town and over the falls. This was done back in the sixties and dropped the number of yearly city floods significantly.
I am having a good time on your trip. It feels as though I am standing next to you! The falls look so great - One of my favorite places on this trip. Keep traveling and recording your adventures.
I live in South Dakota and like 30 minutes away from souix falls. Falls park is even prettier in the wintertime they do a big Christmas display and the falls are lit up with green and red lights and it is kind of froze in some places. It is spectacular. Hope you have a good time
Interesting fact: Smithfield Market is London's oldest meat market which has been in operation for about 1000 years. Great video Adam and Abby - thanks.
Oh my goodness, if I had known you were coming my way, I would have stopped down just to say 'hi' for a few minutes. I live less than a mile from there! Oh, the signs are absolutely needed, that pink rock is unbelievably slippery when it's wet, several people have died by falling in the river when it's running deep.
I used to work in the Cafe it was restored in 1908 and there is still a bunch of stuff down in the bottom ive seen it one time lol. also the smith field used to be a john morrell's they dump alot of the waste into the river. if you ever find yourself back in sioux falls check of the cathedral. or when the blue angels put on there show.
The pipe from the gatehouse was in all likelihood made if wood in the early days. Canyon City Colorado had a wooden pipeline supplying water for people to use downstream.
Beautifull place, for sure!! I love all the history and industry. And I have to admit, I'm glad I'm not the only one that look at railing and other steel fabrications and think about the weld and the materials!! Thanks for sharing and take care!!
Because of the foreign flu going around we can't travel but you guy are giving me a fantastic tour of the U.S without being in the U.S and you visit the kind of places I would visit and for me it's free LOL Keep the great videos coming
The falls are beautiful. Those uneven large rocks remind me of a few times my daughter to me to the falls in Taylors Falls MN. Of course we had to walk across all those uneven big rocks to get to the spot she wanted to fish. I only fell twice and I landed good on the rocks so I was able to get back up and keep going. Forgot to mention the steep banks they had a rope tied between trees to help people get down and up the banks of that beautiful St Croix river. It was exciting to say the least. Thanks for sharing Adam and Abby
If you like water falls here's two for you. Blackwater Falls in West Virginia and Ohiopyle falls in Pennsylvania. Also McConnell's Mill also in PA is really nice.
I hope you remembered to go back and check out the 360 degree view from atop the 5 story observation tower after you ventured over to the Farmer’s Market. I live in Sioux Falls. This is a beautiful park thanks to our city’s investment in beautifying the area. Our city’s 29 mile paved bike/walking trail and 80+ city parks are definitely 2 of the best perks in Sioux Falls. The Falls were still pretty during your visit but they are incredible after heavy rain and A Google search will result in some cool video after a rain. Unfortunately, those heavy rains/flooding also bring in a lot of extra garbage and other debri that can get caught up in that upper falls area, especially when the water level gets as low as it is right now (at the time of your visit). The entire property gets a full transformation to the Falls Winter Wonderland Thanksgiving through early January. The city decorates the park with more than 40 wreaths, 270 decorated trees, 275 decorated light poles, more than 25 miles of strings of lights, a half mile of rope lights, and multiple animated lighted features. (I obviously took those stats from the city’s website). There is holiday music playing and the water of the falls and the river are lit in holiday colors. It’s never a disappointment. Beautiful.
It's like that behind a lot of the diversion weirs I've seen. Limbs everywhere, limbs plus trash in urban areas. The foam I can't explain but some of the locals are bound to know.
I wanted to sit in that whirlpool until I seen how dirt the river looked up stream. With all that garbage I wouldn't want to soak in that water. I seen a stream, falls and whirlpools on a video in Utah I don't know if it was run off from a mountain or a large spring but the people said it was cold and it was so clean it would be worth the trip just to sit in that whirlpool to relax.
Wait till you guys visit Anchorage Alaska with it's many rivers running through the town I lived there from 1982 - 1984 You can visit the AF Base to with visitors pass and that goes for any military base. Hint go during the king salmon runs.
Sure is amazing how quickly clean power generation goes obsolete when they opt for coal power. Yes, power output was likely great with coal but so were the emissions. Sad that these smaller hydro units get shoved off even though they likely didn't put out a bunch of power, they still put out power to contribute.
We've had a very dry year, the falls are quite low. Those rocks are quite slippery when the falls freezes solid. Which it does most all winters. I still say y'all need to move here Adam & Abby.
I agree. It's too bad that people discard their garbage like that. No respect for nature. I remember as a kid seeing commercials on tv about littering and they had a Native American with a tear in his eye from seeing the destruction of what they had a great respect of.
love booth your channels have you ever thought about adding drone footage for your videos a dji mini 2 would do a wonderful job for you and has a easy easy learning curve
Thanks for sharing your beautiful places with us. Abom: "I think we are going to walk across the street there to the Farmers Market". Is that Abby I hear jumping up & down in glee, off camera? :) :)
Hi Adam and Abby, I am enjoying following your tour, it looks great. I did R66 in 2018 over 6 weeks and found touring your country fantastic. You folk were very friendly and welcoming. I have a question, what programme do you use to edit your film clips? I am looking and trying to work with Gopro as that is what I used on R66 for the films clips of our tour. Cheers and enjoy. Ian langley New Zealand
I nearly missed this. I don't know what it is with TH-cam, but a lot of my subscribed channels are not sending me notifications recently. I have to check manually daily to make sure I don't miss out. Is anyone else experiencing the same?
The tower is a lookout tower built just for viewing the Falls and the area from higher up. The lower portion of that building houses restrooms and a visitor information area/store. The tower portion has an elevator to the top or you can wind your way up or down the stairway. Once on top, you step outside and are able to walk around all 4 sides of the tower to get a 360 degree view. (I live in Sioux Falls) Bummed they didn’t show the viewers the view from the observation tower. I sure hope they remembered to go back to the tower after their stop at the Farmer’s Market.
I think this country would be a lot better if it had more of the smaller power plants and not trying to power the whole country with a couple of large plants Randy
Mankind can only detract from the natural beauty of the river basin and falls. Can you imagine how this sight looked 300 years ago?
I lived there 78/79 only went to the falls once. I'm here to tell you they have really cleaned up the falls and built a really nice park.
Yes, lived there also in 77, none of this was there then except rocks and water.
Thank you…Sioux Falls was my home for nearly 40 years. It is a beautiful place! Miss it very much!❤️
That shot of the train crossing the bridge with the clouds reflected in the water was stunning.

Same here. Lived there in the 70’s and there was none of this, just the dumpy mill and rocky areas around the water, not appealing at all.
They built the town and then the city around the falls, and you should see it in winter when they are spectacular.
great place glad you stopped there been following your channels i live 50 miles from there
The Big Sioux River flows towards and meets the Mississippi in Sioux City.
I always try to imagine what it was like when the first people who discovered places like this thought and what it looked like way back then. Great video. Keep it up!
The Big Sioux River flows into the Missouri River at Sioux City, Ia. The Missouri then flows into the Mississippi at St. Louis, Mo.
@@richg.8092 Ah, ok. I just followed it down on google maps. Thanks for the correction Rich.
We are glad you enjoyed the falls. The falls usually has more water. Unfortunately, we have been in a drought for the last 2 years. It is a beautiful place. At Christmas time they decorate with lights.
I love falls, they would look even more spectacular a higher water flow. Thank you for sharing.

Wow, what a great time and great video. Thanks for including your fans & viewers on your awesome vacation.
Thanks for coming into Sioux Falls, SD. Note about the falling and no swimming sign, people have drowned at the Falls. The undercurrent is deceptive.
nice. that is a beautiful part of Sioux Falls.
I am having a good time on your trip. It feels as though I am standing next to you! The falls look so great - One of my favorite places on this trip. Keep traveling and recording your adventures.

What a delight with the train :D Awesome!

Good to see that you are able to get away from the shop for a while and enjoy some diversions! Safe journeys guys!

Wow ! You had a chance to see one of the few remaining, un-repainted Santa Fe "War Bonnet" units left.

Ah South Dakota. Looks like freedom to me. Enjoyed the video but you made me hungry. lol
cool place..thats one things that gripes me is the trash in the water! good on you Abby wanting to clean it up.. drive safe
It looked clean down on the other side of the falls. Let's hope that it all gets caught there and doesn't pollute downstream.
That is a beautifull place, the falls and the farmers market just the place to be. Glad to see you both enjoy, cheers!

With how much y'all like to camp you should head straight to the other side of the state to the black hills, you wont regret it.

Nice!!
Sioux Falls - no, she was pushed !
1:57 I bet those falls look a lot better with water in them. Nice weather is not the time to visit :)
Abby, just before you said you wanted to pick up all that trash, I was thinking the same thing and how it could be done....
I agree. It's too bad that people discard their garbage like that. No respect for nature. I remember as a kid seeing commercials on tv about littering and they had a Native American with a tear in his eye from seeing the destruction of what they had a great respect of.
Very nice place. The foamy water, may be something upstream that is adding to the water.
It's a nice park been there done that
Can’t wait to see where your at next…..great video…don’t tell me you have stopped cooking tho..lol

I use iMovie for most of my editing now.
I lQQk every day for postings .
Did you ever check out Niagara Falls in New York
I (Adam) have never been to that area or Canada.
Hopefully you are aware of the dexter axels and the re-call
do your homework
The high water during the spring runoff is spectacular
Did you go in the summer? Was it hot?
6:18 Hey Adam - how's that for flood coolant ;)
There is a zoo where you can see buffalo and a park
15:00 Looks electrical to me - 3 phase equipment.
15:28 - LOL 3 phase tables & chairs - oh well.
Sioux Falls looks like a great city. Is the farmers market open during the week or only on week ends ?
The signs are there because of recent drownings
I live in South Dakota

20:21 I think you're supposed to bash that drainpipe as it looks like everyone else has !
If you can harness nature to work for you there is usually money to be made!
These places need no human augmentation to make them "beautiful". They come that way naturally. Nice spot though.
0:53 sign - 'over-dramatic' ????? That says NO SWIMMING, not NO DROWNING !
And my first question - what's the tower for are you in the airport ;)

Randy
You should stop by and see Brookings about 40 minutes north
It looked just as bad when we were there
wuda bout dem bugz?
Smithville pork. all Chinese owned
👋👋👋🇺🇸👀🍻🍻
5:05 If you like geology......the place would have been called Brittle Rock !
19:38 It's strange, they are without masks, only Abom has them on 🤣🤣🤣 ROFL
Sadly Smithfield meats is a Chinese owned company.
did i hear correct, 10.00 for a loaf of bread?? typical sodak folks....ripping off the tourists
Tourists in Sioux Falls? 😂
That farmer's market is a ripoff. I have been through it a couple times over the years, never bought anything because the prices are outrageous.
Enjoying the scenery. Thanks for the look.
