Just got finished reading "Widening Circles" by Macy. Music is a language very few people don't speak (it's true, I know someone, don't ask). But everybody understands it. This really is beautiful.
Much simpler than the written directions make it sound. Thanks for putting this up. But what about the "circling" mentioned as "most important" by the originator Anastasia?
the 'circling' is not being done here. think of a pendulum, the base can swing from side to side as the dancers' hips move left to right during the sway segment. allow the pendulum to circle instead of sway that is what the dancers' hips should be doing in relation to the head of the dancer. when the weight moves to the right in the sway, the hips circle forward and to the right when the weight moves to the left in the sway, the hips circle backward and to the left completing one circle per sway
This is really fun to dance to - it's one of my favorite sacred circle dances!!
WE used to dance this during our bibliodrama dances..may i ask when to use or what are the explanations for each steps? thanks.
