Do a guide please! There hasn’t been alot of videos about Arcane specifically in M+ scenarios. Just by watching i learnt alot about holding CDs. Thanks!

I'd love to make a guide, but there are already amazing guides out there by more veteran mage players in the community most notably Toegrinder. Join the Altered Time Discord and you'll find all the resources you need there and there's a dedicated channel to ask questions as well if you need. Or just ask me specific questions here if you want and I'll be happy to answer!

Hey! Never expected to get a reply. I watched all the guides Toegrinder, Forgy and learnt the basics bout arcane. But i think they are largely focused on raids. I hope to play m+ as arcane and my problem is really holding cooldowns and also not using the utilities properly. Could you share tips on using spellsteal and alter time? What are your thoughts on holding cooldowns in m+?

@@Ccroissant627 I talked a bit about holding CDs in the description of my newest video so definitely check that out. The thing about Arcane is it has a lot of damage when you have Big Burn, mediocre damage when Mini is up, and is almost an NPC without either.
As you go into the higher keys the adds last longer so you're mostly able to get either a Big Burn or a Mini Burn for each pull especially on Fort weeks but on lower Tyrannical weeks it gets really awkward. I'd say Arcane on lower keys is terrible except for bosses just for how fast the adds die but it gets better the higher keys you get.
There's also an experience factor; the more you play the dungeons the more you get a sense for when to hold and when to use CDs. Let's take FH for example: meta right now is pulling 3 packs at the start and bursting them down (Big Burn.) Afterwards you pull the small 4 camp and you have Mini Burn for it. By the time they're dead you have your Big Burn back up or (almost) and it's worth using for the next 4 pack with 2 Kul Tiran and 2 dogs (forgot their name.) Then it's just a matter of rotating between your Mini and Big Burn for the rest of the dungeon. It's even better if you have a coordinated group because you know exactly what the Tank is going to pull but I mostly play PuGs atm and it works out fine.
Regarding Spellsteal the most use you get out of it is on Barriers/Shields (the skeleton adds in UR and cloudy adds in VP are what come to mind atm.) Can also Spellsteal Elemental Focus from the caster adds after 1st boss in HOI if it goes off. This doesn't really give you any DPS increase but it lowers the adds damage. Gift of G'huun on the 1st caster adds in UR can be Spellstolen as well if it goes off. Be sure to have a Plater or WA to highlight Stealable Buffs on enemy nameplates. I can share mine if you need.
Alter Time in my opinion is the most broken defensive spell in the game. I genuinely think what differentiates a good Mage from another is their Alter Time usage. There are so many examples it would take ages to list here but just to name a few: AoE from 1st boss HOI (if you're tracking it with some sort of WA you need to Alter slightly before it goes off around 3-4 seconds so you can get it back for next one.) If you Alter the AoE phase from 1st boss VP you take 0 damage for the entire fight if his casts are interrupted and you don't get hit by random stuff. I might make a separate video strictly for Alter Time but as long as you try to get in the habit of using it before any of the big damaging abilities you'll do fine.
Regarding the guides their rotations apply just fine for M+ even though it's mostly structured for Raids. You'd just do the AoE rotation for adds and ST portion for Boss. Nothing is different in that regard. Go to the AoE rotation section and just hit a dummy for 10-15 mins and then do the same for ST. Arcane currently is one of the most complex specs in the history of the game so don't be discouraged if it seems hard at first. Come 11th of July though 10.1.5 will release and there's HUGE changes for Arcane so the rotation will change yet again and be much simpler (no more RoP yay!)
      Best of luck!

Thanks for the breakdown. I am doing some 9-10s now and still feel that the trash packs dies fairly quickly before the totm finishes. Perhaps maybe i will try running my own key to higher where they survive long enough to spread cleave. Please do a guide about arcane! Anything about m+ will help!

No problem. 9-10's is way too low to enjoy Arcane outside of bosses. It'll get better as go into the higher keys I promise :D
