Hello bro, I can't explain this but I recently noticed this after buying my second monitor. Everytime I turn on my electric fan which is connected to the same outlet where my power surge protector, my usb peripherals from that pc shuts off for a split second then comes back immediately (everything, mouse keyboard, webcam, bluetooth dongle, microphone, etc.) even my monitor blinks into black state for split seconds but my computer doesn't shut down it just literally blinks for a while. What can be the main culprit of this event? Thank you very much in advance for responding :))
@@AlexPCTechActually my power surge protector strip is connected to another extension to which that extension is connected to the main outlet, while my electric fan is connected directly to the same main outlet but whenever I turn off/on the electric fan it randomly causes the issue I stated. Is there anything to protect UPS from Voltage Fluctuations? Bought a new UPS and it short circuted upon shutdown of my PC. How can I protect UPS from getting burned or having anyother problems due to voltage issues? Is it advisable to use Surge Protector or AVR on UPS? I don't think UPS itself can handle Voltage Fluctuations without damaging itself first...
Good Day Syed, 1. Yes, a Surge protector should be able to handle voltage fluctuations from the wall. 2. This should not have happened, as UPS's also have avr functionalities, if it is still under warranty, i strongly recommend you return it. Yes, you can plug your UPS to a surge protector. 3. It is advisable to use all of the three, and yes, you are correct, the UPS cannot handle voltage fluctuations alone, but it also has AVR capabilities for up to 170V to 280V, if you ask me, thats a pretty wide range.
@@AlexPCTech maybe built-in surge protection is faulty on my UPS which creates this problem, they might replace that part in the repair centre to avoid such problems in future. Thanks for replying :)

Hello I hope you can still answer my questions
My pc died because of motherboard and gpu became grounded but it is now fixed. I bought an ups is it ok? Also my motherboard backplate still has a an electric ground is it normal?
What’s the best one to use for tv and ps5?
A surge protector
Hey man great video, would you recommend having a gaming pc plugged into a surge protector instead of a wall outlet? Thanks
Yes definitely, especially if you live in an area with a lot of thunderstorms.
@@AlexPCTech what would be a good number of joules on the surge protector for my gaming pc? I have a 500watt power supply in my pc
Sir, is surge protector enough to protect my pc for black outs?
follow up question:
Can i do outlet > power surge > ups > pc?
have you found a solution?
I was also thinking of just using a surge protector for now.
But there's always fluctuations as well here in my area.
I'm from the black out capital of PH.
Can I plug my avr to surge protector like this orientation Socket --> Surge protector --> AVR --> System unit and monitor.
yes. Thanks for the comment
Hi, this will be a problem with the power distribution eitherway, it gets underloading, have you plugged all the computer components in a ups?
@@AlexPCTechActually my power surge protector strip is connected to another extension to which that extension is connected to the main outlet, while my electric fan is connected directly to the same main outlet but whenever I turn off/on the electric fan it randomly causes the issue I stated. But so far it's been months but no major issues on my core components it's just annoying and at the same time alarming because it may cause further complications if I just let it be.
Same problem tayo boss, bigla humihina yung fan ko tapos namamatay pc then babalik agad pero di namamatay yung cpu pati mga cooler
@@vincetan8700 Regarding sa breaker mo sir, naka breaker ka ba or fuse? FEeling ko overloaded
Same experience im using avr connected to extension cord (no idea if it has surge protect) im using it for a while waiting my surge protector. whenever i switch on and off my fan, my monitor blinks/flcker.
may UPS ako pero nag fflickering po minsan screen ko, short din kuryente sa area namin need ko po ba ng surge protector??
Yes po need parin. Also. Check the proper wattage po baka overload
Hi, where should I connect my laptop? AVR or Surge? thanks!!
Surge is fine as the laptop hs it's own voltage regulator in its adapter
ok ba gamitan ng extension wire (no surge protection ) ang ups ? d kasi umaabot sa wall plug eh
Yes po
Is there anything to protect UPS from Voltage Fluctuations?
Bought a new UPS and it short circuted upon shutdown of my PC.
How can I protect UPS from getting burned or having anyother problems due to voltage issues?
Is it advisable to use Surge Protector or AVR on UPS? I don't think UPS itself can handle Voltage Fluctuations without damaging itself first...
Good Day Syed,
Hi Sir Alex, is it safe to use a normal extension wire on my computer? I don’t have much knowledge about whether it’s safe or not ‘cuz I’ve been using the extension wire that I bought on my pc for years without knowing if it’s safe or not.
OK Lang naman po basta wag Lang overloaded pc, an electric fan and a speaker OK Lang po sa isang outlet in my experience. However, Mas OK po pag galing sa reputable brand ang extension
@@AlexPCTech thank you po sir
Hi, I have a questions, is it okay to connect my PC to a NON inverter generator? or should I use a surge protector for my PC to be safe? please advise, thank you.
Yes. Same concept. A surge protector will still handle current from any source.
Good video po, safe lang ba e plug in yung UPS thru Surge protector?
Just asking for the music on the background 🙂
Sir anong avr brand at model ang recommended mo pang gaming/editing pc na bang for the buck?
Apc talaga ako simulat sapul e. Pero at the range of 600php siguro from a reputable store OK na
Okay I have a stream set up with gaming/streaming pc, ps5, lights, mic, mixer, monitors, webcams, etc. Lots of electronic equipment all being used at once for long periods of time. My area doesn't get power outages often, thunderstorms are more common but honestly still not often. What should I use that can handle that type of hardcore power usage that can handle it while protecting all my gear? I would really appreciate your input. I watched the whole video but I'm still unsure.
Thanks for watching. First I would go with a surge protector then maybe two UPS for all of the equipments but that will depend on the capacity of the UPS against the power draw of each device. As for the avr, in the long run maybe go for one for the CPU
@@AlexPCTech so 1 surge protector, 2 ups, and 1 avr. How should I hook that up?
@@durangedd2611 even multiple surge protectors per outlet is recommended, outlet - surge protector - UPS - avr - electronic component
@@AlexPCTech thank you for your help I plan on going for a professional set up. I need stability, saftey, and longevity. I appreciate your help. 😇

Ung UPS ko nag bebeep pag naglalaro ako ng heavy game like warzone kahit naka saksak naman tsaka at may kuryenta sa line. Kstar UA100 1000VA/600w. It means hindi ba enough ung power nya nun?
For my gaming pc with 550w psu what would u recommend?
Same question
Thanks for the video. Just wanted to know if it's really safe to use both the AVR and UPS together because I've been using them both for a long time. My UPS is connected to my AVR while my AVR is connected to the wall.
I saw on another yt video that some PSU already have an AVR.
I was also on a tight budget after building my pc.
I was wondering if I could just buy a surge protector power strip for now and then buy an AVR later?
I have a secure AVR ($5) which I am a bit skeptical about.
I alsop have a mitsushi T04 power surge protector but am thinking of buying panther or royu brand.
Pwede ko ba i plug UPS ko sa extension cord ko na may SP? Salamat
May surge protector po ako. Would you recommend me to still get an AVR? And if I do, can I plug the AVR to the the surge protector?
I have a 500w true rated psu. Is a surge protector + a 500w avr enough?
Hi. Yes. Take note on the avr rating, I encounter mostly VA units. Goodluck and Thanks for asking
@@AlexPCTech but what about including the monitor etc?
Hey bro i need your answer plz I’m building mid range gaming pc so i dont have ups or inverter even I don’t want backup for saving files or etc staff but if suddenly light goes off can my pc component gets damage??
Yes.
Hello sir alex, 3 years ago na tong video na to pero i hope mag reply ka. I just built my decent mid/high end pc. We have a surge protector extension and gamit ko yung old avr ko from my old pc. Yung avr ko generic intex avr lang. Does the surge protect + AVR combo will be better? Im using a 850 watts 80+ Gold rated PSU. I can invest naman sa servo AVR if yun ang mas mainam. Does the surge protector + servo AVR or generic AVR at reputable store is decent combo for protection?
If you ask me po if yung AVR nyo i working fine pa its ok naman. And yes if ako surge protector and AVR talaga ang endgame hehe. If in case gusto nyo po mg branded, apc is the way to go.
I am a beginner pc gamer and I have no knowledge what to do. Just had a power outage and it so happens I was playing while it occurred. Now the power is back and I am too anxious to try turning it back because of my paranoia due the power surge since the power went out twice simultaneously. I am new to this PC gaming topic. I wish to not buy a new PC.
Hi how are you? Are you doing fine? Just relax and breath and if you can get your hands on a UPS, if your powersupply is around 700watts then I advice you to buy an AVR ( APC Smart UPS 1000VA ) Its fine, don't be scared, but if its raining or there are thunderstorms, I advice you to not turn it on for the meantime until you get your hands on a UPS, regards from UAE and Take Care!
Anong brand ng avr and surge protector ang marerecommend mo?
so basically a ups has surge protection and wattage rating like an avr , while having a battery at the same time?
Yup. But it doesn't regulate or smoothen the voltages out
@@AlexPCTech do i need a UPS if i have an inverter at home , like i use my ps4 slim and TV sometimes when the power is out , without any interruption , right now I'm building a new pc , I'm not sure whether I'll need one!
@@ZephyrFlaei sorry, but how can you use your ps when the power is out may I ask?
@@AlexPCTech well i have an inverter , like it's a device that powers up my home when the electricity is out , for long hours infact ..and it doesn't take any time to switch whatsoever , like nothing turns off when electricity is out , it's instantaneous!
@@ZephyrFlaei woah! Hmm in my opinion you will still need a UPS but if it's like super instantaneous, then you don't need it and it will be better to invest in an avr.

Hi bro, just a query if ok lng ba or necessary pa ba n I plug in ang power surge (Belkin)sa avr or pwede n kahit walang avr at direct na sa power outlet . Thank you 😊
Pwede but much better pag may avr. Outlet to surge protector to avr and then finally to system unit
I only need to keep my gaming pc Safe from eletricity can i only use Surge protector?
best ups for r5 3600 and 16gb ram 1660 supper? Is 650Va enough? Ask ko lng i have surge protector den saan isasaksak un?
Yes, thats enought. You have to plug the surge protector in the outlet.
Hi Can i use surge protector for my television?
Yes ma'am.
Hi! Do you absolutely need a servo avr or will a relay type avr from a reputable brand like APC do for a gaming pc?
yes. In my opinion, as I do a lot of things with my pc and I cannot afford a downtime, a reputable brand is the way to go.
@@AlexPCTech I see, so a relay type from APC won't be good enough?
@@reyjustine7116 Thank you for your question, I could'nt really see the application of a relay as for my understanding, a relay relays the entire current to another switch, whereas an AVR will be controlling the current that is coming in. Im not an EE by the way so chances are there are variations of a relay that might be similar to how an avr handles current.
I have a fridge guard surge protector...can I use it for my PC?
Yes :)
Sir okay lang po ba kung outlet->power surge->ups->avr? Then another question po ulit is kung pwede ko po ba isaksak yung monitor ko sa avr? Or sa UPS?

yes, however, if your extension cord does have some kind of a surge protector, better double check as it may be redundant.
