So, I just got one of these installed in my 2015 Accord with a P3 12 inch sub in a ported enclosure. Holy smokes! This is my first system and I am absolutely blown away.

word... been a fan since my jr yr of hs, '90... I just installed a Punch 150a2 in my twenty-one yr old son's car. I've had it longer than he has been alive. It sounds great!
Nice to see their entry level amp has the clip indicator now too.

@@Callbeast I didn't any punch. Just gain. And that speaker blew btw lol. I now got a 12' skar audio 600w . And sounds even better.
@@Lxdeez it blew because of the power huh? Or was the gain incorrectly set? I know that these amps usually can go up to 50-200 watts more than they say...

I have the old prime 500.1. I’ve never had any issues with it. I like how the new ones have the clipping indicator. That’s the only thing I wish the one I have had.
I was just commenting on this a few days ago about how the Prime line didn't have this. I guess that I was wrong because it does now.

Thank you for this incredibly awesome video! I just purchased this amp to install in my 2012 Ford Escape. The car had stock every thing installed with no sub or amp, I spent time and did lots of home work I especially liked this video because it fit on the sub enclosure box really well as it wasn't too tall to interfere with the side panel. The nice thing about this amp is all the connections and any settings can be done through the pop out access panel. Your detailed explanation of the settings give this newbie installer the confidence with my purchase being the correct one to have made. Can't wait to hear the install I am doing with Alpine ILX-W650. Pioneer 4 way door speakers, and a Kicker Sub. I'm so thankful I found this upload.

I have this amp going to 1 alpine 10” type r the 1st gen and it hits very good. I paid for the R500x1D but they were sold out and this is what it was replaced with 👍👍
I have this same amp and I'm very impressed it has my impala pounding hard and it's only 500 watts ...it goes hard and does it job no over heating no problems just solid hard bass
What gauge power wire are you running?
This morning I just installed the Rockford Fosgate R-2 500x1 in my car and paired it with (1) Kicker 10” DVC4 50th Anniversary Gold Competition sub running at 2 ohms in a Skar rhino lined ported box replacing my Skar RP-800 amp and (1) Skar 10” SVR DVC2 sub that was running at 1 ohm and it sounds just as loud and ALOT cleaner with these 2 Iconic brands that I have used since the late 80’s. Just proving that what is printed on an amp doesn’t mean anything & some amps don’t put out near what it’s rated rms!#RockfordFosgate#thePunch🥊#Kicker#Livin’Loud#🔊❤️

Just got this amp, love it so far. What I found is the manual says to use 40hz at -10db for setting up CLEAN. I had a similar issue where I couldn't add much gain trying to use 40hz at 0db. Anyway its a happy balance, would have liked to see the RLC with LEDS for the CLEAN signals but oh well probably not happening at this price point.
I have been trying to sell my old one for a month now so I can buy the new one. Can’t wait!

Nice review! I just picked this up to power 2 12- Jl Audio W0s in their slot ported basswedge box. Using the speaker level input, I tapped into my 2020 Camrys non JBL front speakers and it works really well. Definitely nice using the auto turn on with the speaker level input and not needing to run a remote wire.
With your sub specs did you go with two 2ohm (using channel A&B) or 4ohm bridged? Just curious so when mine arrives tomorrow I figure out what subs I want to get after these two cheap Kenwood KFC-W12CVC's get murdered lol

Just picked one of these up yesterday from my local audio shop. I have it paired with a Kicker 48CWR122 in a prefab SPL ported box. I’m blown away by the quality!

Hope these new amps have more reliable turn on solders. Out of the 8 rockford amps ived installed, 3 of them had bad turn ons
But when they work, they kinda invincible
fixing to get this next week, replacing an older alpine 600w mono, great amp just time for something new, since i just put in a single 12 p3 replacing an old type s..going to have to do some power/ground wire magic tho, since this has weird angle inputs compared to my set up now..might just paint some plywood and screw that intro back set to raise it half an inch or so , plan to mount on back of seat in mustang where my old amp is. i will of course use ferruls
the clip light is a nice touch and read these do about 670 watts real

Thanx for showing the guts Dean:) I’ve seen the inside of the old model, which was a good layout too; but this looks like an improvement, aside from the cosmetic exterior change( hoping your right index finger nail heals soon🥶)

I've had my T-500-1bd for 10 years. I just sold it for the same price I purchased it and bought a refurbished by Rockford Fosgate t1500-1bdcp:) will you guys make more Rockford Fosgate videos please!

Great video! I have a question with matching this specific amp to my subwoofers. I have x2 8" subwoofers (single voice coils) that are 200 RMS @ 4ohm each. I will be wiring them in parallel so that they will be rated at 400watts RMS @ 2 ohms total. Will using this amp which is 100 watts more power be too much for the subs to handle? My plan was to not use Rockford's EQ punch or gain settings to hopefully level the power down enough
So I got it 2 days ago but the small one the 200. Installed it and worked fine for 1 minute and then something happened and it's not turning on. And it's showing only a couple of V at the terminal but my battery is good tried even without av fuse. Nothing. So from your video and I to understand that I need to hook up the high level input for the front speaker to get it to turn on? Do I also use the RCA then also? My head unit is the Kenwood DMX 9706s. Also I only need it to power the front speakers because that's all I have in my 2019 sprinter. And a kicker sub but that's powered by a different amp.
Great video. Does this mean Rockford are going to be releasing new Punch and Power amps soon? I've been tempted updating to a new Power amp, but not if they are releasing a new one in the next few months.

@FiveStarCarStereo....I just purchased the Rockford Fosgate R2-500X1D and I am not sure if I should get two 12" 2Ω subs and wire them independent off channel A + B......or do i get two 12" 4Ω subs and bridge them???
Does it would it make a difference other than the rule I read everywhere that says "4Ω is best because it will make a cleaner signal which is better for SQ than a 2Ω"
Please let me know if anyother info is needed!

I have this amp and single Rockford fosgate P3-D4 10 inch sub at the moment. I am thinking of getting another p3-D4 10 inch sub to make it twins. Would this amp be able to handle that? Or would I need to get a better amp?

@@gazjones2238 to be honest alpine probably sounds better than linear power depends on what speakers the amps are hooked to and the individuals taste.
If you wired two 4 ohm subs parallel into this would they get 2 ohms still? Like one 4 ohm sub in a+ and a- and the other in b+ and b- or should you wire the positives together and the negatives together and just go in a or b? Or a+ and b -?
Hi. As far as I know, you are not supposed to bridge these style amps (wiring only a+ and b-). They are monoblock, meaning they are already at one channel.
I have this amp my system stopped working in the power light does not turn on by disconnected and reconnected everything checked my deck, check to the ground in the power swap. The fuse still didn’t work so then I bought another amp, the same exact one hooked it up, and nothing works still does anyone have any advice for me?

I would love to see an unboxing of the Rockford Fosgate PUNCH P500-1bd as I have one and don't understand the clean set up on it but I have it set with a Rockford Fosgate PUNCH P3D2 15 sub in a custom built ported box that is to ROCKFORD FOSGATE SPECS FOR THE SUB WITH THE AMP I is a 5 cubic foot ported box tuned to 44hz

Hi, This is a great video! I do have the Rockford Fosgate R2-500x4 and R2-500x1 and the HU is the Alpine ilx-702d.
I've set the gains using the 0db RF test tracks (1khz for the 4-channel and 40hz for the sub amp).
However, I need to set the volume at level 10 (max is 35) for a decent volume, is this normal?
The clipping light on the sub amp never turns up, even when the HU is at maximum volume, punch eq at maximum (with the bass knob at maximum). I did try setting the gain at almost maximum. There is output from the sub amp though, I have to keep the punch eq setting at max and bass knob at 3/4. is there something wrong with my amps or HU?

could just be your alpine doesnt clip. i had a kenwood that did the same thing! "wide open throttle!"

was that cold solder on the bus? maybe they were not populated. i have a prime 500.1 been chooching fine so far not pushing it at all, bout 200watts. been using it for about 3 weeks now. no complaints. love the size and the layout of in / outs.
No, that is not cold solder on the buss. I used to work the wave solder machine on production and since the board is soldered from the underside, the solder "wicks" up through the ports and starts to rapidly cool due to the large mass. It may give the appearance that it is a cold solder joint, but it's only the top "skin" that sometimes does this.

If its a mono amp why is there an A/B Channel Output?
Does the R2-500X4 provide quality sound equal to or better than an A/B amp, such as the P600X4? I know this is debated. But, why would a company such as Rockford still make high quality A/B amps, if D amps are just as good/better? I can't see RF making like 4+ A/B amps in basically every class (Prime, Punch, Power). Yet, even one of the RF reps on the RF channel told me to run A/B due to my concern for quality sound.
---The other thing is: I listen to Techno. Does an A/B provide any additional SQ over the R2 series?

Ok someone please hear me out, anyone who actually might know. On the sticker on the back of the amp, with the SN and such. It says 16V DC capable. I've seen it on a 500.4 what would happen?
Higher input voltages make more power but don't go over what your amps rating in this case 16V. DC power input !
where are the fuses on this amp ?
I know you guys have talked about the crossovers before as far as which one to use, the amps or the radio. I have a fosgate 1000P5 running my whole system. Radio is a kenwood 9903s. I would like to use the radio crossover setting. How should I set the crossover in the amp for the front and rear, HPF or APF? Again, I want to use the radio crossover settings. By the way you guys rock!
If you are using the crossover in the source unit, then set the amplifier to AP (All-Pass) which bypasses the crossover completely.

I have a premium Bose factory stereo that is already really good so I am just gonna talk to the installer and have him work his magic. How does yours sound? Does it thump??

@@Barney-hk3es if you have enuff power you dont need your amps turned up that high . id rather have to much power turnt at half way then just enough power turned all the way up . if you no how to dial in a amp to what you like for sound you no better than turning your amps all the way up to just before clipping . so there is no need for clipping light .everyones sound and what thype of music is different . ie what i set my eq is differnt than yours .

Depending on what files you downloaded, it might be available in a higher resolution file. Yes, it's O.K. to play through Bluetooth if that's your only option. Rockford Fosgate excuse me, what could be the problem when my amplifier R2 500 X1 turned the light red and my 10 in. Kicker subwoofer was mute.? I tried to turned my subwoofer on again by adjusting the gain, but my subwoofer again did not sound at, it sounded a little, but when I move the gain up the light turned red again and like it don’t want my subwoofer to work. Is it a problem with my subwoofer now that could be damage? This happens when I turned my stereo volume up without adjusting the amplifier as it was supposed to.
It is a 2-ohm Amplifier ... not 1-ohm !!! And inside the Little bag is the Nut for the Sub control Knob !!!!!!
I bought this amp for indoor use with two P1s. Problem is when the amp is connected to the mains via a 12v power supply there seems to be a ground issue. When I touch the any of the RCA (low level input) outter shield I get a humming sound even when no audio input is connected. When I try touching both the RCA and the Ground terminal the humming significantly reduces. Begs the question shouldn't the RCAs be grounded by default?
Dean, the birthing sheet is not new for the R2, I have a 4 channel R1 prime that came with its birthing sheet.
Next, your video on the Orion amp was a re-view. This video is more of an over-view of the RF.

I own this amp and can say that it has never gotten abnormally hot nor has it ever gone into protect mode.
Even with the C.L.E.A.N. I still my levels with the FLUKE.
Great amp for a great price! I just wish the remote punch knob had a led light for clipping so I can relax some when banging hard! If they had the light in the knob I wouldnt have to constantly hold the knob while listening for clipping adjustments.....maybe thats next!?!
May I ask where do you have it installed?...I'm affraid of place it under the seat on a little space where 2 sides of the amp squeeze directly to the carpet of the car...
I just got this amp(not installed yet), I know it says to set any boost, DSP or equalization to off when doing the C.L.E.A.N setup, so do you have to redo it when you set your headunit's audio enhancements(eq, loud, etc)?
I wish the remote and speaker wire slots were smaller, dont need to be that big.

The original prime 500.1 was very inefficient but made a lot of power for a 500 watt Amp it would almost shut off most small vehicles
