Sentosa Island is its own thing and you can certainly just spend a week there! Singapore, the city, has a different vibe and can take some time to discover as well. Personally, I'd go to Singapore again for the city and skip Sentosa. Nothing bad about Sentosa, but there more paradise resort areas in Southeast Asia if you really wanted a paradise resort experience.
