I worked at TMFT for 5 years and knew her as a jovial and feisty lady who enjoyed her job much. Something like the 'Da Jie da" (big sister) type. No wonder the accused went to her for loans. Sad for her. She obviously didn't deserve such an ending. Being too nice to everyone doesn't pay in this case.

What really attracts my attention is the reaction of Inspector Taufiq the Malaysian police officer when SIO Shaiful says about the missing items from the victim. At the moment SIO Shaiful reveals that the pawned items are missing from the victim, Inspector Taufiq is shocked and looks at SIO Shaiful with amazement. He never expects that the 2 bracelets and necklaces that the murderer pawned are from a dead woman and to the worst, a Singaporean! He must be thinking:" How cruel the murderer is, taking away the jewellery from a dead Singaporean colleague and pawning the jewellery in order to get rid of the evidence after comitting the crime."

i think i read it in an online article before, the suspect actually went on a gambling spree after pawning the gold, before proceeding to the wedding. so makes me wonder if he really needed the money, also after the marriage, the wife immediately divorced him after she found out. take it with a grain of salt, i read this article sometime last year so might not be accurate.

The Singapore Govt is now a bit like China's govt when punishing people for serious crimes. Instead of giving the murderer a death sentence which will put an end to his misery swiftly, the court decided to hand him a life imprisonment, which will prolong his suffering in jail for a long, long time.
Actually, studies have shown that prisoners get used to prison lifestyle after the first 10 months and after that period, it is not really a punishment anymore. Besides, Singapore prison conditions are really quite benign. Prisoners get to watch TV, play sports, exercise, get meals 3 times a day and get visits by family members/friends once a month too. This is not Syrian prison or North Korea prison.

They still have to watch their backs and get their sh*t stole from them until they build some kind of rep, and even then it's still not safe even 90%. So, it's a good punishment. I think it's a slap in the face if ppl die instead of serving time, I want ppl to suffer for doing something horrible like murder or child molesters. They should at least have a sh*tty life the rest of their life
