I just saw Book of Mormon over the weekend. It was great!!! It was funny, rude, offensive and the music was awesome. I recommend that you go with folks that have a good sense of humor. The great thing was it did not discriminate. It offended everyone.
+Amaya Rios Yes, Lopez, Stone and Parker have spoken about how they have borrowed lyric structure or music style from well known broadway songs. Listen to 'I Believe' and compare the lyric structure to 'I Have Confidance' from 'The Sound of Music'.
***** I caught the Sound of Music reference, and there was even an appearance by Trekkie Monster from Avenue Q (written by Robert Lopez, also of Book of Mormon).
It's sort of a mix between The Wizard and I and Defying Gravity. I can't remember how it goes, but I think the beginning is 'The Wizard and I' and the end is 'Defying Gravity.' I can't remember where I read this, but yeah.
Can I say that the guy who plays Elder Price in this video is now in the actual Australian cast for the Book of Mormon. CAN WE ALL APPRECIATE HOW FAR HE HAS COME?
i just stumbled across this after watching the sydney production last night. i love that daniel is now in the book of mormon cast! full circle! i love it!!
Saw The Book of Mormon a few years ago. It was good, but the funniest thing was all the Christians, Jews and other religious people there watching, laughing at mormon religion like all religions aren't equally as ridiculous.
Just rewatching this and now I realise, the reason you look familiar is because you're Elder Young in the Australian BOM and I follow the Instagram! Seeing the show when you come to Sydney, can't wait!!
Wicked? "What is this feelin?".. ???? What are guys deaf or something? Or just because its a duet? It sounds nothing like it In fact "Mostly Me" can hardly be even considered a duet. Elder Cunningham hardly sings in this piece
I am afraid you are just hearing what you want to hear. For that matter, there are many elements of other songs in the Wicked score too. Music is created with many notes put together... you are bias towards Wicked and therefore choose to associate the similarities and identify it as a rip-off from Wicked. Mostly Me sounds entirely original. ln the Book of Mormon only Hasa Digga Eebowai is intentionally written to spoof Lion King's Hakuna Matata. Even then, the music, the message... and the profane lyrics makes it distinctly different.
In fact... in almost all musicals... there are scenes of self reflection or affirmation. Be it Miss Saigon, Les Mis....etc.. not unlike Mostly Me or What ls This Feeling.. the tone and style is similar . But the scores are clearly different Oh dear... if you see more musicals you are going to claim that everyone is ripping Wicked off... including those created before Wicked
lee bs the writers have deliberately done most of the songs to spoof a lot of shows. This is fact. The music man, the sound of music, wicked Lion King, The king and I to name but 5. Sorry to disappoint you
Why would l be dissapointed?.. guys , don't take this too seriously.. we are just all giving our 2 cents worth on the internet, we are not finding a cure for cancer . Anyway.. there are many numbers in the Book of Mormons intended as spoofs.. specifically Hasa Digga Ebowai was a clear dig at Hakuna Matata. But "Mostly Me"?.. please tell me what is it spoofing?..
He ended up playing Elder Young in the Sydney production of The Book of Mormon, and apparently is now the alternate for Tony in the Australian production of West Side Story. Don’t worry, he’s doing alright for himself. :)
Thank you to those who made this "musical" because even though it is not complimentary of the Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-day Saints, it DOES make people aware of this book of Scripture and of the Church. Thank you. I invite all of my brothers and sisters who may read this to read The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ.
This is me when I'm doing a group project.
how do people NOT laugh at the line "Now that I'm 19, I'll do something incredible that blows God's freaking mind!"?
Michael R. Burke I laughed XD
I just saw Book of Mormon over the weekend. It was great!!! It was funny, rude, offensive and the music was awesome. I recommend that you go with folks that have a good sense of humor. The great thing was it did not discriminate. It offended everyone.
I hope to see it one day! Glad to hear it's living up to my expectations.
It offends everyone F**** YEAH!
Is it just me or this song really does sound like,"Defying Gravity" from Wicked!?💚
+Amaya Rios 2:29-2:31 sounds like a bit of it
OpticPancakeZz Ya! It does!
+Amaya Rios Yes, Lopez, Stone and Parker have spoken about how they have borrowed lyric structure or music style from well known broadway songs. Listen to 'I Believe' and compare the lyric structure to 'I Have Confidance' from 'The Sound of Music'.
+Amaya Rios It's actually a parody of The Wizard and I
+Amaya Rios Its not you only. We all agree I think
what it would have been like if elder mckinley was elder price's companion amirite
they would definetely did not turn it off
more like turn it on
Genie K I want to see that.
it would be just like the fanfics!!!!

Why does this sound like Defying Gravity?
It's sort of a mix between The Wizard and I and Defying Gravity. I can't remember how it goes, but I think the beginning is 'The Wizard and I' and the end is 'Defying Gravity.' I can't remember where I read this, but yeah.
I was thinking a similar thing.
Because the play is as much a Spoof on Broadway music as it is on the Mormon church
It was based off of that song in particular. That's how the creators of the musical intended it to sound like.
Because it’s Broadway.
I just saw you in the show on Thursday in Melbourne! Congratulations!!
This gave me more reasons to ship Elder Price and Elder Cunningham! XD
I'm in awe of your voices Daniel and Daniel. I'd love to hear you do Defying Gravity!
I love this song.
The title is so funny before the song even starts. A good sign.

The best part about this in the theater is that they do the same lighting cues as Wicked.
Is it meant to be like Wicked?!?!
This song is basically a parody of Defying gravity :D

Aww I love elder price's face at the end when he hugs him! Adorable!
That bit of blocking at 1:00 is GENIUS. It needs to be used in the actual show immediately!
Was sitting here thinking it's been ripped from The Wizard and I, now I have learned it's deliberate haha :') (d'oh)
It's called a parody.
"Now we're seeing eye to eye" lolz the physical comedy is lost when you only listen to the cast recording. love this.
They actually don't do that in the actual production of the show! Kudos to these 2 guys for coming up with something so brilliant.
Those Wicked influences though. xD
This elder price is spectacular
lightens my mood everytime I watch it
Lepidolith well since I love to sing and their great at it why wouldn't I love it.?
I can tell that this parodies "Defying Gravity" from Wicked :)
Tivona S. "The Wizard and I" actually
wow I can really see the subtext round 1:00!
You did a wonderful job. It was an exquisitely written piece of satire on traditional broadway uplifting music and you executed it well.
In fact now I know it's kind of a parody of Wicked, I'm hearing bits of 'What is This Feeling?'
i just stumbled across this after watching the sydney production last night. i love that daniel is now in the book of mormon cast! full circle! i love it!!
Homeboy looks like Jason Biggs
this song is me during all group projects
I ship it.
Victoria Le Wizard. No... ship Elder Price and Elder McKinley

I’m Mormon and I love this.
The blocking is so good you guys. Perfect.
That was awesome!
You guys do such a great job! Good luck from Hawaii, USA.
I've seen the musical twice now and still can't wait to see it again. I love this video guys!!!!
Wow, this is a great rendition. Very impressed with Mssrs. Assetta and O'Brien.
Saw The Book of Mormon a few years ago. It was good, but the funniest thing was all the Christians, Jews and other religious people there watching, laughing at mormon religion like all religions aren't equally as ridiculous.

I get mega jake peralta and charles boyle vibes
Was sitting here thinking it's been ripped from The Wizard and I, now I have learned it's deliberate haha :') (d'oh)

There are elements of What is This Feeling, The Wizard and I, and even a touch of Defying Gravity. Who's the deaf one?

Omg your in this years australian tour as well so cool!!
This was REALLY good. Nice job. I hope I can see the musical live one day.
I love your voice so much!!
That one last hug at the end killed me
I feel like I'm both people in most scenarios.
I can't tell if that's extremely balanced or all outta whack.
how are you not an elder price understudy now?!?!?!
He ended up playing Elder Young in the Sydney production of The Book of Mormon, and apparently is now the alternate for Tony in the Australian production of West Side Story. Don’t worry, he’s doing alright for himself. :)
This was awesome!!!
My bad, l said you guys... its actually just one guy that thinks this is anything like Wicked.... its nothing like Wicked
