The disabled girl getting her water bottle stolen at school by another kid is genuinely heartbreaking. It probably took her mom forever to find a water bottle that suited her daughter’s needs, only for it to get stolen by another kid who probably knew that she was intellectually disabled and decided to exploit that for her own gain.
@@avp_youtube I hope the parents of the kid who stole the cup punished them. You shouldn’t be stealing from anyone let alone someone who’s intellectually disabled!
Love how the Stanley’s lasted a month before people threw them out bc the trend ended/lead accusations and yet I’ve still got the same water bottle i had three years ago
Same. Had mine for over five years and it doesn’t leak and keeps my stuff cold for almost 2 days. Think the brand is Manna. Was $20. Even got a dent in it and still keeps stuff cold. And has a cool handle from the top.
I had the same water bottle from 2013 to 2019, and it was a fucklng Exploitalife giveaway my mom participated in, only stopped using it after it fell and broke 😂 If an exploitalife plastic bottle can last that long a god damn Stanley can last longer 😂
Back in 2018 I bought six glass water containers with sleeves and little loops to carry them. I’ve given a couple away as gifts, I’ve broken a couple by leaving them in my car when they freeze I’ve dropped a few but the sleeves kept them from breaking. But yeah, the glass water jugs I bought in 2018, I still have at least two. And when I drink out of glass I know I’m not going to get lead poisoning or forever chemicals in my body because of it
As a blue-collar guy, I was really confused when I first saw people freaking out about Stanley. Many a trade worker has been keeping their coffee hot in a green Stanley thermos for decades. All of a sudden, every suburban woman was frothing at the mouth over the brand. It was baffling lol.
@@dawnliphard9591 i'm still using the one my dad used when he was trucking back in the 80s and 90s. been on field trips, camping trips, work trips... if it ain't broke, don't replace it
I know exactly the one. It kept my dad’s coffee warm in the NAVY. When I told my husband about the Stanley cups he got excited because he thought people were suddenly hype about hockey.
I love that thermos! My dad would fill it with hot coco and bring it on ski trips and it was always still piping hot. When I first saw the stanley trend I was like “oh I have that!”
The thought that resellers who were fist-fighting in stores to flip the bottles online for $250 are now stuck with unmovable stock fills me with *GLEE*.
Yes I was. I worked at Cracker Barrel when they came out. People would call the gift shop where I worked, to see if the new ones came out yet. And the thing is we would get a small shipment in every Tuesday, I believe. Maybe 50 of them. They would be gone in 30 minutes. And we had a limit, 1 per customer. Boy, they did not like that.

I purchased a hydro flask after it was recommended to me by a friend because it's super reliable. and pretty tough. I had a real-life human being come up and tell me that my hydro flask is ugly and I should have gotten a Stanley cup... what even are humans anymore?
I purchased a thermoflask while the Stanley trend was happening because i hated all these obsessive people’s behavior and it’s the best water bottle I ever purchased :D
Honestly using it as a flower vase is the better option of all. Rather than having a full wall of bottle collecting dust, they are now holding water as they intended and flowersto be pretty around the house
I like this perspective - if you're gonna have tons of cups to the point that it's counterproductive, at least make them do something that looks nice and is semi functional 😅
I was going to say... Plus, if there's anyone like me, I don't buy flowers enough to keep using the vases I get, so they just end up under my sink taking up space. At least this way the "vase" has multiple uses.
I'm not Canadian but even I associate the words "Stanley Cup" with hockey. That's why when I heard about this weird fad, I thought people were swarming ticket offices to hockey events. Then I was very surprised to find out it was the insulated mug! I don't understand TikTok trends and fads. My 9 year old Sigg water bottle works perfectly fine and never leaks. I heard the Stanley mugs aren't even watertight and will leak slowly if they fall on their side. What a dumb waste of money!
@@largol33t12my husband thought the same thing about hockey and was very disappointed to find out it was a fad. I still use my old nalgene that I got at a summer camp from childhood. Or I use disposable bottles. We can’t drink the water in my area without boiling.
I thought hydro flasks were annoying but now I’m starting to regret ever thinking badly abt them, bc at least the VSCO girls weren’t this insane… I knew a girl who had a hydroflask during its hype and it was dented all over yet she kept using it bc that’s the whole purpose of it.. it’s reusable
The funny thing is, I was seeing older women (mom pages and home decor/renovation influencers) with Stanley cups way before all of this in like 2017. So all these trendy weirdos are late anyway.
I am a parent, and evrything that is considered "cool" will not enter my house, ever!! Because most cool stuff isnt cool for a very long time, its just the clever way it is marketed so people will fall for it and spend their money on useless and expensive products. I'm happy to say i brought up my kids with common sense.
@@stardust2938I agree. Cool things are just elaborate marketing schemes to get sheep youth with underdeveloped brains to spend money on things they don’t need.
Reminds me of a time my grandma went into an opshop and found a good quality jacket going for $2, when she went to the counter they told her they priced it wrong and that it was actually $20. My nan told then that it says $2 so thats what she'll pay. She put $2 on the counter and walked out with the jacket. Salvos stores have increased their prices to where it's now boutique store prices. I avoid shopping there now. I don't know how charity shops can do that considering their customer base is low income. I once saw that they had marked an anko top for $5 more than what akno sells the top as. They're insane.
Honestly that's something I don't understand: If your kid comes home with a new item, you know that your kid stole it from someone. How is it that these parents don't bring it back to the school but are obviously fine if their kid steals from others? They see their kid walk around with someone else's things and are ok with it. It makes me so angry.
Some parents don't care and are passing on their entitlement to their kids. Look at ipad parents who refuse to actually be parents and then blame teachers for not being surrogate parents. Not too far fetched to think their entitlement could extend to theft
@@ghoulchan7525 And the parent doesn't bother to check? Or at least to say thank you to the parents of the kid who aparently "gifted" something so expensive to them?
Counter point: they hid it from their parents or they told their parents the parents bought it (gaslighted them) because they have so many stanleys already so the parents forget which they did buy.
This is something that drives me nuts. They are a reusable cup to cut down on waste. People decide to collect anywhere from a few of their favorite colors to dozens of them. Then a few months later throw them all out??
I’m laughing for so many reasons at these people. Also, Goodwill has been jacking up prices for years, and for ages they’ve taken great advantage of a federal loophole that allows them to pay their disabled employees way less than minimum wage.
I think that Goodwill cashier just wanted those cups for herself, if the label is wrong they have to honor the price unless they can prove the customer swapped the tags or something.
@@MeowNow494I think you’re definitely right about the goodwill employee. If she would have been in charge of labeling/stocking, it would have never even made it to the shelf. And yep, you’re also right about honoring the price. How despicable this whole thing is.
@@ColdCreekBFederal loophole to pay disabled employees less than minimum wage? What the heck is that? That’s horrible. The governments really don’t care about anybody do they?
@@vanillapinkfluff3477it's legal as long as the government signs a piece of paper that says you can and yeah it's disgusting. Good will is not the only place that does this either, a lot of "sheltered workshops" do it too and they'll frame it as charity because "this is their only change at employment". It's sick but most people don't care about the rights of disabled people, even though disability is really common and it's also only minority that anyone can enter at any time. Basically goodwill sucks but I still shop there because when you need cheap clothes you need cheap clothes. I'm tired
that poor kid who got their cup stolen is actually beyond heartbreaking to me...... im autistic and i absolutely understand the importance of having a specific type of water bottle for my specific set of needs and to have that TAKEN from me... i hope whoever's bratty ass kid that stole that cup gets fucking laughed out of that school for what they did cause i know if id been that kid id be in such a state at losing something of mine thats as important as a water bottle.. i remember some guy took my plain eraser once in middle school and i was so upset about it being gone simply because it was MY eraser that id been using all school year.. i couldve easily gotten a new one but the difference was just that id been always using that one so it had some sort of sentimental value to me that i couldnt just replicate..... it seems silly and small to most people, but it really isnt to us.
I have adhd and i usually misplace things (Mainly my water-bottles) and i feel so bad for that kid aswell especially sense maybe with a bit more time the kid would've found it and it was such a high value item. Its sad to think the other bratty kid just had to steal it.
THE ERASER THING HAPPENED AT SCHOOL AND I WAS SO CONFUSED OF WHY I WAS CRYING BC OF IT (it was randomly gifted by my friend but wasnt like a huge big of a deal and ive been using it a long time so it mustve been the sentimental value) also somebody stole my pencil ive been using FOR SUCH A LONG TIME, GIFTED BT MY FRIEND, A GOOD PENCIL I REALLT LIKED, and i cried so bad ive mustve looked insane
As another autistic person, I heavily relate to the eraser thing. Whenever I lose a favorite pencil or just a pencil I use often I get really upset, though I always hide the fact that it made me upset because a lot of people don't really understand it since it's just a pencil. Also kinda reminds me of the time where my candy wrapper collection disappeared (I think my grandma threw it away) and I had a meltdown🧍♀️

The Stanley touching on the floor is so dumb you know why? Fun fact: every product you touch in the store has been on the floor at some point. Weither its from stocking, other customers moving things around, falling onto the floor, etc. Every product in the store you touch has been touched by a hundred strangers and been on the floor. Thats why you should wash and clean some of your products when you get home.
Sometimes it's good to keep an eye on trends. If there's a product you want that's trendy, you can wait for the trend to die and prices to plummet. I might buy a Stanley cup now that they're so cheap everywhere.
18:56 as a Starbucks barista… in America, they could save the disposable plastic cup and request for their drink to be made inside their Stanley… just wasting more plastic.
plus youd probs get tad more in the stanley then the plastic cup i do this with my durarara themed reusable cup iv had 6 years now i order a medium and u basically get a medium and a half
Dude my biggest flex in life will be that I never bought a Stanley cup! It was never pretty looking to me, which is fine people can like different things... But what wasn't fine was when kids started getting BULLIES for not having that cup... That's when I chose to make fun of those people, as a kid that grew up extremely poor it actually made me cry that these babies were bullied for not having like 80 bucks for a cup... Even though I'm 26 now and I only work a part time job because I'm doing university too, I still have a couple thousand euros saved up and since I never spend money on anything for myself, I would be able to buy it, but in my mind I'm still poor so I was like hell nah... I used to never ask my parents for more than one snack that was like 30 cents (Converted from the Serbian the Currency into dollars) 2 a month when we went grocery shopping, because I knew how poor we were and I never wanted to make my parents feel bad for not having more money, because they still gave me everything I needed and my childhood was still beautiful.... So I can't imagine how fucking hard it must be to get BULLIED because your family isn't privileged enough..
I honestly don't understand the bullying part. The bragging and showing off sure. But having status symbols means you don't actually WANT other people to have them. Why provoke everyone to get one? On the other hand, I was watching a video where the mom was picking up the kids from school with their ponies to ride home, and someone in the comments said that she would never do that. Do you know why? Because she was already being bullied at school for being a rich kid. 🤦♂ I think I was very lucky in school. People brought in new things - fancy pens, new sneakers (velcro was now coming in - that's how old I am. lol) and I felt bad because I didn't have those things. I wouldn't dare ask my parents to spend money like that (we weren't poor. middle class. but my mom always told us to be diligent with saving money). But one thing, nobody even teased anyone else for not having any of those items.
The thrift became gentrified due to the same people who hoard Stanley cups. When it became trendy, which is bizarre to me because i was bullied for wearing second hand... They started to buy "vintage" and brand name, and they started advertising all over social media about how much money they made selling these thrifted items on ebay, depop, etsy ect And the companies saw it all. Due to them. Price increases are due partly because of influencers advertising that they make money from it. I was lucky to get some thrifted addidas as a child. Good luck now due to the resellers
This kind of reminds me of when I used to wear a (second hand) three striped Adidas Jogger to PE and got bullied for it. Then a few years later it was the absolute trend item (and still kind of is) and suddenly everyone wore it. Same with my thick eyebrows. Trends are just stupid man
@@Jaguarkralle1I've had super-full lips my whole life, & I was made fun of as a child! I was ashamed, & wouldn't even wear lipstick til I got older. There was a girl in my class who named her Stanley, and she and her friends talked about it enough that they convinced the substitute teacher that ‘Bethany’ was a real person
I hope the worst on their parents. The kid comes home with a new cup, how did they get it? If the parents somehow can't put two and two together and get their child to return stolen property, they shouldn't be parents.
I think the Stanley accessories are just ways for people to subconsciously try and justify the amount of money they spent on the cup, but just causes them to spend more money, so the cycle continues.
the girl saying that someone needs to tell goodwill that this isn't the Stanley everyone wants was talking about the price not the cup specifically. she was commenting on how expensive the price was for a used item, and its not even the item everyone wants so it shouldn't be so overpriced.
They're just the equivalent of beanie babies at this point. Some people/stores are holding onto the notion that it is still an expensive collector's item. And others know its worth $2.00.
18:08 This is the only thing that actually really makes sense. The ice cream stays isolated and you don't get cold hands from holding it. This is good for people who don't like to have cold hands. Though, a much smaller bottle or a regular thermo mug would do the same for less than $10.
I suppose she is going to eat the entire container at one sitting? Because I thought the same. That it was a very good idea but just a smaller mug please.
Or you could just scoop the ice cream with a spoon into a bowl that you use for cereal because you're not going to be eating the whole darn package at once. Like I've been doing for the past 20 years.
Dicks and Scheels always has a wall of Stanley’s available. The rush is always over specific colors and styles. The unique colors and the new coolers are still hard to get and selling for hundreds. Goodwill is horrible with prices now I’m sure whoever labeled them was unaware of the Stanley trend and mislabeled them. Goodwill has online sales of their more valuable items they usually never make it to the physical stores anymore. It’s just a big greedy corporation like any other. Using cups and other containers for flower arrangements is very common and has been for decades. That said… not for that price. That is insanity. Love your videos!
I can't use a regular glass due to tremors and grip issues, so I use sippy cups and water bottles with straws exclusively. I live in an area with a lot of brown recluse spiders, plus I just have a lot of allergies to various insects, so I like having containers that allow me to close the straw access. I also prefer them to be spill proof and sturdy for when I inevitably drop or yeet them during a spasm.
ya good, for you it makes perfect sense. same as i drink tea from a bottle with a straw that also has a cap (so straw can't leak if bottle falls). cuz i be clumsy with shaky asf hands. mine is cheap asf and i use it daily 😂 also helps to drink AT LEAST 600ml of water a day, cuz god damn i be always dehydrated otherwise
As a Neuroatypical disabled person, seeing that mother's frustration at selfish neurotypicals hit very much at home. People do this to extra practical possessions that are very good for disabled people a lot, only to turn around and accuse us disableds of polluting the planet. (Hello, anti-gadgets, anti-straw and anti-inhaler ableds). I don't care about brand, but if I saw that exact design of the cup, I'd like to get it for whenever I go outside and want to bring water with me. I suffer from hyperhidrosis and I get cotton mouth a lot. This would make it easier for me to be outside. It doesn't look slippery, looks like I could accidentally drop it and not be afraid of it getting broken. It has a freaking functional handle! Gee Gods, why did THAT take so long to become normalized?! It seems to have a good seal, and straws that you can put toppers on it to prevent accidental spills, plus it insulates whatever is inside. I could go to Starbucks and get a drink for cheaper by asking them to pour it in the cup instead of using up a single use plastic cup. (Although I'm currently boycotting Starbucks) It's a very practical bottle, and I don't understand why people must create unnecessary high demand -which triggers an over supply - for it when they don't even plan to use it as a bottle. Don't buy practical things you don't need, but don't say that it's entirely unnecessary either. There are people who benefit greatly from something like a cup's handle. The fact it has a straw that you can close. Did you know there are people who can't drink without the assistance of a straw? Ever thought how useful it is for someone with mobility issues in their hands that they can just slip the hand inside the handle for better reassurance against spilling? Next time you see something that you think is for "lazy people", no, it isn't. If it's something that doesn't greatly improve your functionality, then don't buy it. Leave it for someone who can get more use out of it. And for the love of kittens, don't make a micro trend out of it. Thanks for coming to my TedTalk.
I hope that one girl who got bullied for having a Walmart cup is having the best time ever right now. Watching this unfold and it becoming her turn to laugh at the kids who ridiculed her for not having a Stanley.
21:20 this is a personal opinion but wanting to cover your straw especially when it's out in the open or something makes sense to be honest. especially considering. yknow. the amount of THOSE kinds of people that get encountered in public who put stuff in others' drinks for disgusting reasons. So if i see a straw topper i'm really not going to think much of it.... however $10 for a little rubber topper that was created purely for aesthetics is HEINOUS 💀
I'm imagining the Stanley shareholders being like: 😬 We're gonna have a record year again, right guys? Right? Jokes aside, trends like these must be nightmare for any business. you think thats bad? being a company in a world where consolidating wealth is incentivized over spreading it, means you are permanently in a situation where you will have less and less disposable income available to purchase anything. aka a perpetual loss situation. but hey, our system demands all wealth get reconsolidated back into the hands of monarchs, so we have to do that lmfao
@@dudono1744 they don't know how long the trend will last, if you make too many they go to waste/storage or sold for less but that makes or other products look "cheap", on the other hand if you don't make/have enough you get scammers/scalpers who then resell as many as they can for an insane mark up you also have people who will go to far as the will fight each other over the product and that makes the company look bad
What’s even worse about that reseller couple that “found” the Stanley’s at target, I’ve seen other videos of them “finding” stashed Stanley’s at a TJ Maxx which was definitely faked. Which means they brought their own Stanley’s into TJ Maxx to make it look like they got a lucky find. That’s sad
I’m so grossed out by the food holders on top of the cup. There is a reusable water bottle being sold that comes with a little ring of scent so that your water tastes like what you are smelling. I don’t want my water to taste like chicken nuggets But from someone who has ADHD and frequently forgets I am holding things, only to realize an hour later I’m no longer holding the thing, I can see why people would want to attach keys or Chapstick to their cup. They don’t put pockets in women’s clothing so if we don’t want to carry a bag, but we do carry a cup, I can see why people would attach a little backpack to it
Wait what? Food holders? I only heard about those silly rings with scents of fruits and stuff. Never tried it but sounds like a fun concept Edit: oh wait now I see it, my mind probably erased this from my memory as soon as it disappeared from the screen. WTF GROSS
The only valid point in this video, that didnt come form Haylo was the 13:54 trip video. I mean, you do have to have water avalible at the airport? I think that one was actually pretty neat, I travel a lot and carrying waterbottles at the airport isnt very fun, so I'm with the OP on that one-
Yeah, the luggage drink holder is genuinely really helpful. It's usually for if you grabbed a coffee or something while waiting for your flight, or if you have a reusable water bottle that you can't hold or put in a bag. Not at all unnecessary imo, it's helpful if you need both hands but can't put your drink down anywhere.

OK it’s super crazy that it’s ending up in thrift stores because it’s not cool anymore, but I’m not at all surprised people aren’t snapping them up now that they are $100. I thought it was crazy people were buying them for $50
People do this every time a trend die so they don’t have to admit to themselves that they wasted a crazy amount of money and time on something stupid. So they dress them up “ repurpose” them.
as someone who used to stock shelves in a retail store in michigan [USA] - we have a similar law that states stores must honor the posted/stickered price
A Stanley cup in your hand is equivalent to crocs on your feet lol. The hokey decorations/attachable accessories really confirm the essence of tackiness attached to the brands
I wear my crocs everyday, and I’ll never stop. They’re not a “trend” for me- I’m old, & this is my second go round with crocs. I had them when they first came out & then again in like 2015, & I still have them. At least 5 pairs. A croc for every occasion, I even have “dressy” crocs.😂
Crocs are actually amazing. I have gout because of arthritis And some days my feet hurt so freaking bad and my crocs are the only shoes I can wear. My mom has plantar fasciitis and she swears by her crocs too lol.
When I first heard about Stanley cups I went “wow! a cup that my autistic àss can use and like comfortably!” and then I saw how people were acting and I don’t really want one any more 😕 I don’t wanna be seen as someone who’s obsessed with Stanley so I’m probably gonna get an off brand one
nobody gaf about what cup you use. Just get a stanley in the color you like, no need to complicate it. People aren't going to ever stop judging others regardless.
I imagine in the next few weeks you could get one and no one would bat an eye, because they'll be too far in their next craze to be bothered. Sucks they wasted those resources, but at least by then you can pick on up at the thrift for far less.
I saw a comment of someone who said she was judged in school for being a rich girl. So SnakeKillsDumbledorf has a point. If you can get one on thrift then anyone trying to make trouble for you - you can say it was from the thrift store after the hype had died.
Animism is actually pretty common. Sometimes it's a religious aspect but other times it's to feel connected to the world. Sometimes people actively choose animism and other times it just kind of happens. People often get attached to items they use everyday such as a car, computer or toy. It's easy to start attributing personalities to these objects and sometimes we even name said objects. A good thing is that we will tend to treat our items with kindness and care if we attribute personality to them... But on the other hand, we can end up hoarding items more easily. It's all pretty individual (duh haha).
18:21 Pffft. I've done that for so long with regular cups. How is this genius or special? I always thought it was weird that I did it but useful, but I never thought of it as something monumental or important to talk about??

The disabled girl getting her water bottle stolen at school by another kid is genuinely heartbreaking. It probably took her mom forever to find a water bottle that suited her daughter’s needs, only for it to get stolen by another kid who probably knew that she was intellectually disabled and decided to exploit that for her own gain.
I agree heartbreaking 💔 I understand I myself who has anxiety 😥 poor girl got something of joy ripped from her
I really hope that the kid feels at least guilty or the parents took it away from them. Stealing it from a disabled kid is just too far.

Same. Had mine for over five years and it doesn’t leak and keeps my stuff cold for almost 2 days. Think the brand is Manna. Was $20. Even got a dent in it and still keeps stuff cold. And has a cool handle from the top.
I had the same water bottle from 2013 to 2019, and it was a fucklng Exploitalife giveaway my mom participated in, only stopped using it after it fell and broke 😂
If an exploitalife plastic bottle can last that long a god damn Stanley can last longer 😂
And when I drink out of glass I know I’m not going to get lead poisoning or forever chemicals in my body because of it
Because people love the trend not the cup. 😂
As a blue-collar guy, I was really confused when I first saw people freaking out about Stanley. Many a trade worker has been keeping their coffee hot in a green Stanley thermos for decades. All of a sudden, every suburban woman was frothing at the mouth over the brand. It was baffling lol.
I have to give it to Stanley, they knew how to get a new market. Shame that it probably means that you can't get one of the old ones for cheap anymore

Once your parents think a product is 'cool' it instantly becomes 'uncool'. Before SM it took parents a lot longer to catch on.
I'm happy to say i brought up my kids with common sense.
that's funny because my mom bought a fake stanley(because she knew about the lead in the cups) right when the trend started to die down
@@stardust2938I agree. Cool things are just elaborate marketing schemes to get sheep youth with underdeveloped brains to spend money on things they don’t need.
Suddenly reminded of that chinpokomon episode from South Park
Reminds me of a time my grandma went into an opshop and found a good quality jacket going for $2, when she went to the counter they told her they priced it wrong and that it was actually $20. My nan told then that it says $2 so thats what she'll pay. She put $2 on the counter and walked out with the jacket.
Salvos stores have increased their prices to where it's now boutique store prices. I avoid shopping there now. I don't know how charity shops can do that considering their customer base is low income.
I once saw that they had marked an anko top for $5 more than what akno sells the top as. They're insane.
Good on your grandma for standing her ground and just walking out.
Honestly that's something I don't understand: If your kid comes home with a new item, you know that your kid stole it from someone. How is it that these parents don't bring it back to the school but are obviously fine if their kid steals from others? They see their kid walk around with someone else's things and are ok with it. It makes me so angry.
counter point, Parents ask kid where they got that kid says a friend gave it to them.
@@KK-rj7ij that's also true. but yeah. some parents will just go "oh ok," also if the parent never asks for the kids name.

And yep, you’re also right about honoring the price.

that poor kid who got their cup stolen is actually beyond heartbreaking to me...... im autistic and i absolutely understand the importance of having a specific type of water bottle for my specific set of needs and to have that TAKEN from me... i hope whoever's bratty ass kid that stole that cup gets fucking laughed out of that school for what they did cause i know if id been that kid id be in such a state at losing something of mine thats as important as a water bottle.. i remember some guy took my plain eraser once in middle school and i was so upset about it being gone simply because it was MY eraser that id been using all school year.. i couldve easily gotten a new one but the difference was just that id been always using that one so it had some sort of sentimental value to me that i couldnt just replicate..... it seems silly and small to most people, but it really isnt to us.
I have adhd and i usually misplace things (Mainly my water-bottles) and i feel so bad for that kid aswell especially sense maybe with a bit more time the kid would've found it and it was such a high value item. Its sad to think the other bratty kid just had to steal it.
the eraser thing is me with everything i have lol

They started to buy "vintage" and brand name, and they started advertising all over social media about how much money they made selling these thrifted items on ebay, depop, etsy ect
And the companies saw it all. Due to them. Price increases are due partly because of influencers advertising that they make money from it.
I was lucky to get some thrifted addidas as a child. Good luck now due to the resellers
Yeah resellers are gross they make it hard for people who actually need the things that are in thrift shops

Yeah i saw two stanley cup at a thrift store for $5 each that my friend bought last month for $120 total. I'll be honest and say i teased her about it. 😅
That's an awesome deal, also my brain is now focused on 120 = 5!
I'm a bad friend, I would have too
One hopes you helped your friend to be cautious about jumping into trends in the future. And if she has trouble next time, just remind her about stanley cups. 😅
@@markusgorelli5278 Oh don't worry I tried my best to encourage her not to buy the Stanley cup especially after the lead issue. She refused to listen since "everyone has a Stanley cup"
the worst part about the starbucks orders is that (idk if it's the same everywhere) starbucks offers to make your drink in a cup you bring in...so they literally, if they wanted to, could have their drink in their damn stanley
They're probably the type of people who don't want to have to clean their cup out after they finish their drink though, even though that's the whole POINT of a reusable cup
21:25 that’s actually a fear I have 😭 (bugs in my drink) it’s so severe that that straw topper wouldn’t even do nothing for me I have to be able to SEE my drink at all times 😭
Same and i always check before drinking
7:45 Uh, that Stanley thermos they tried to throw shade at is legendary, and not a trend item. They've been the same for 111 years. Take a seat!
Absolutely! I have 2 of them, the really big one and a smaller one. Bought them in the early 2000s and they still look great and work fine. Kept my coffee steaming hot for hours. Several of my friends who work construction also have them-a bit more beaten up (some of them have had their thermoses since the 70s and 80s) but still very functional.
@@uhura472 Yeah, I have the 1 liter and I absolutely love it! Tested by storing it at fridge temp for 24 hours, and the water was still hot the next day.
@ville__no it isn't
Stanley has been growing in popularity for over a couple of years already. But you just knew it was about to be uncool once little kids got into it. And that's not even taking into account that the people mobbing stores were mostly resellers.
"BABE THIS IS NOT MICHAEL JACKSON!" one LMAO two. exactly! filming someone without permission is weird, even if it's just their cup! it's a CUP. you don't need to film it like it's a superstar!
People always ask why I never buy trending stuff
.
This is why
The fact you think the girls buying the Stanley's at the thrift are actually ashamed to be an owner of a stanely makes me laugh, they didn't have to buy or own one if they felt so strongly about being "those people"
Using cups and other containers for flower arrangements is very common and has been for decades. That said… not for that price. That is insanity. Love your videos!
this just proves that some people are incapable of enjoying anything unless someone else likes it
I can't use a regular glass due to tremors and grip issues, so I use sippy cups and water bottles with straws exclusively.
16:30 that actually made me want to cry, wtf is wrong w/ you that you steal a cup from a disabled person🤨
And it was a kid who did. The kid who stole it didn't even care that the parent payed 100$ for it.
So if i see a straw topper i'm really not going to think much of it.... however $10 for a little rubber topper that was created purely for aesthetics is HEINOUS 💀
right! and i saw straw toppers in target for cheaper 😭
I'm imagining the Stanley shareholders being like: 😬 We're gonna have a record year again, right guys? Right?
Jokes aside, trends like these must be nightmare for any business. It's uncontrollable and unpredictable. One day you're ramping up production as much as you can to keep shelves stocked when you don't even understand the sudden fixation, the next day absolutely nobody wants your stuff and sales come to a standstill while the production facilities are still running. Insanity.
In that case you don't ramp up production to maximum capacity instantly I think.
you think thats bad? being a company in a world where consolidating wealth is incentivized over spreading it, means you are permanently in a situation where you will have less and less disposable income available to purchase anything. aka a perpetual loss situation. but hey, our system demands all wealth get reconsolidated back into the hands of monarchs, so we have to do that lmfao
That’s sad
17:14 makes me wanna cry cause WTF
I’m so grossed out by the food holders on top of the cup. There is a reusable water bottle being sold that comes with a little ring of scent so that your water tastes like what you are smelling. I don’t want my water to taste like chicken nuggets
But from someone who has ADHD and frequently forgets I am holding things, only to realize an hour later I’m no longer holding the thing, I can see why people would want to attach keys or Chapstick to their cup. They don’t put pockets in women’s clothing so if we don’t want to carry a bag, but we do carry a cup, I can see why people would attach a little backpack to it
Wait what? Food holders? I only heard about those silly rings with scents of fruits and stuff. Never tried it but sounds like a fun concept
Edit: oh wait now I see it, my mind probably erased this from my memory as soon as it disappeared from the screen. WTF GROSS
the air drink bullshit? that literally contributes to overconsumption too😐
The only valid point in this video, that didnt come form Haylo was the 13:54 trip video. I mean, you do have to have water avalible at the airport? I think that one was actually pretty neat, I travel a lot and carrying waterbottles at the airport isnt very fun, so I'm with the OP on that one-
Yeah but where are you getting water at the airport
Yeah, the luggage drink holder is genuinely really helpful. It's usually for if you grabbed a coffee or something while waiting for your flight, or if you have a reusable water bottle that you can't hold or put in a bag. Not at all unnecessary imo, it's helpful if you need both hands but can't put your drink down anywhere.
Imagine buying a cup that was like $50 and because of a trend you just throw it away
When you said that people are treating Stanley Cups as bags, I thought you meant they accessorize them like bags, WHEN YOU PULLED THE VIDEO OF THE ACTUAL STANLEY WEARING A BAG my jaw was on the FLOOR
I’ve had a pink water bottle from target with pineapples on it since third grade.Changeable and easily cleanable straw, keeps my water cold for a day, small but thick, convenient.WHY DO I NEED A 50 KILOMETER AND 23 CENTIMETER LONG CUP FOR 6 HOURS, WITH A DIRTY STRAW THAT I NEED TO CLEAN WITH A PIPE CLEANER?
i feel so bad for the kid who got theirs stolen. i really really hope the school took action or the thief owned up, but even that doesn't fix the mental wound of having that stolen. i hope they're doing okay :(
Normally I agree with your takes... but the flower thing is pretty normal. i used to work in a florist shop and a sizable portion of the price is for the vase/vessel. Its a combination gift, you get the boquet and then you have the cup. No different than a nice vase or a cute basket. Same concept as those succulents that come in cute little mugs.
yeah same. and i honestly think the cute accessories are okay on the cups as well, as long as theyre not constantly consuming for no reason. if you will continue to use your stanley and you really do bring it everywhere, then why not put keychains on it? id love to decorate my water bottle with keychains cus i love my water bottle

I think it's a pretty good opportunity to get the cup for cheap though. Just because the 'trend' is over, doesn't change the fact that it's a pretty good quality cup, and if you need a good water bottle it's a steal.
It has a lead recall tho?
I thought the lead was just if you damaged the cup??
I’d love one but the lead thing gen scares me 💀
The last time I was this early, Stanley Cups were in their peak... so, actually, not that long ago...
They did not gain clarity. Everyone began buying them and now no one wants them because it no longer makes you special. Price means nothing if everyone has it
I think that good will cashier wanted to buy the stanleys for themselves and that's why they told the customer that they're supposed to be more expensive. Notice that the cashier didn't just tell the shopper the "new price" but told them that they couldn't buy them BECAUSE of the new price. Why didn't they just charge them the $20 and let them buy it?
That was the first thing I thought. The cashier wanted to buy them probably to resell on ebay or something.
I just hope the micro-trends stop soon. The amount of ppl who shamed these Stanley cups users… no wondered they are embarrassed and throwing them away. WHY CANT PPL JUST LET THEM BE😭 I hope no one else throw those expensive cups away
12:47 the girls in my class with normal waterbottles(they always have noisy keyrings too for no reason)
FINALLY I KNEW THIS WOULD HAPPENED
In my opinion they fell off partly because everyone has it now. It was only popular because of its “exclusivity” . From what I’ve seen once everyone has something it no longer is cool because it’s so common .
15:14, naw the kids in the back of the car are genuinely concerned for their mom
OK it’s super crazy that it’s ending up in thrift stores because it’s not cool anymore, but I’m not at all surprised people aren’t snapping them up now that they are $100. I thought it was crazy people were buying them for $50
Even 25 bucks would be too much imho
People do this every time a trend die so they don’t have to admit to themselves that they wasted a crazy amount of money and time on something stupid. So they dress them up “ repurpose” them.
as someone who used to stock shelves in a retail store in michigan [USA] - we have a similar law that states stores must honor the posted/stickered price

Lol, I like crocs as the only type of sandal/slip on no socks shoe I find comfortable, but I'm definitely not wearing them every day.
My mom has plantar fasciitis and she swears by her crocs too lol.

nobody gaf about what cup you use. Just get a stanley in the color you like, no need to complicate it. People aren't going to ever stop judging others regardless.
No one cares lol
We do not care what cup you use or that you’re “acoustic”
I imagine in the next few weeks you could get one and no one would bat an eye, because they'll be too far in their next craze to be bothered. Sucks they wasted those resources, but at least by then you can pick on up at the thrift for far less.
I saw a comment of someone who said she was judged in school for being a rich girl. So SnakeKillsDumbledorf has a point. If you can get one on thrift then anyone trying to make trouble for you - you can say it was from the thrift store after the hype had died.
12:20 they're literally turning the bottles into jojo siwa.
