Thank you! Once I figured out HOW to open the key fob- I also had a challenge getting the battery “out” to replace it. This was far from customer friendly. I hope Audi changes this.
Thank you!!! I have watched so many videos. Firstly I have realised the US and UK key fobs are different! And secondly none mentioned the catch bit actually in the key 😮😂
@@CreateActionLtd Unfortunately even after replacing the batttery in the fob with a brand new top brand one, the fob still won't work at range, even though the red light flashes when I press the buttons. I can open the car with the manual key, place the keyfob next to the sensor in the cabin, and then the car will start, and the control buttons actually work up to 5cm away from that sensor. But beyond that the control buttons still do not work. The key fob itself had been damaged by a previous owner, I'm wondering if this has caused a problem with the transmittor. Or it could just need some programming ritual performing that I've not managed to find on google yet.
Hi, CAREFUL!!! There are (at least) two IDENTICAL looking Audi fobs in the UK, where the battery cover opens in different ways. My 2023 S3 fob case would break if you try to lever up in the middle, it's solid plastic there! I got this tip from an Indian TH-cam video, which appears to have the same spec as my UK fob after 20 minutes of frustration... This cover does not have the deep flange of the one in this video, it is a simple thin plastic moulding. DO NOT LEVER THIS TYPE OF FOB IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CASE. Instead, look for one of two small clips inside the fob case AT THE SIDE (The nearest corner of the battery cover to the key space). This is a hook of the cover into the body of the case, and needs gentle forward pressure from a screwdriver to push the hook back, so the cover is partly released. When the first corner is raised, you will find a screwdriver slot in the exposed middle of the cover edge. Gentle leverage on this will release the second clip, the cover can then be hinged up and removed... It doesn't end there, the battery is then ridiculously difficult to remove. After some swearing, I found by pressing down on the battery between the two triangular battery clips, the other side of the battery raised a millimetre, enough to just lever it out with a screwdriver. This design is insane! I'm sure Audi must have tools to make it easy, they clearly do not want you to DIY!
That's all very good to know. The key fob was on an Audi A4 (3 years old) and it's the same on the Q3 (2024). But very good to know that there are variances in Audi key fobs. Don't break your key fobs everyone. And yes, why they don't fix this, is crazy! On my Jaguar, it's a lot more simple (which is why that video has very few views) 🤣
I've never had to reprogram this key fob. I did a quick Google and saw solutions, which didn't look too difficult, but I've not had to try it myself. Good luck 🤞
I've replaced batteries in a few car keys, but this by far the most complex. I've also replaced the battery on my Jag not that long ago, and that was so much easier (and also didn't require a screwdriver!")
For those asking, the battery is a CR2032 battery. It's a common battery (AirTags use them as well). Amazon has them cheap :)
Not only did this help me quickly replace my battery, it made me laugh too. Thank you!

Thank you, this video actually worked, where none of the others did :) [edit spelling]
I'm glad it worked. I still find the key design strange, it's not something I've had a problem on with any of my other cars.

Thank you for the detailed explanation! With your description it was a quick fix!
German egineering at it's finest: unnecessarily complicated
How can i replace the key fob housing? I would like to remove the circuit board but i cant. Can you help me?
Unfortunately it's not something I've ever done (and hopefully won't have to). Good luck though :)
Did you ever find out how?
Once I did this the trunk button doesn’t work. I’ve seen some videos on reprogramming the key after this but how do you do this with a keyless fob?
I've never had to reprogram this key fob. I did a quick Google and saw solutions, which didn't look too difficult, but I've not had to try it myself. Good luck 🤞
What batteries are they? Thanks

You can use the key. 🤷🏻♂️ same technique .
Thanks
Thank you
I'm glad it worked. Absolute pain of a design!
Now, how do you take the battery out ?
Use a screwdriver, and gently push it out. Won't take much pressure.
Thanks!
Audi should go out of business for this

This is absurd. Who the hell designed this?
You should tell people what batteries is that

@@CreateActionLtd thanks just bought it from pound shop for £1.59 Audi trying to charge me £20 for one x
@@StormTurk1453 hahaha. It's a common battery. It's the same one in my Jag and lots of my kids toys.
