  • The new development in the 700 mt class of luffing jib cranes delivers fantastic values in terms of lifting capacity and hoist speed. The combination of high capacity and speed delivers twice the value for use on high buildings.

We have one of these 710 HCL 32/64 cranes in Detroit right now. It's an amazing sight to see.

Ich kann immer wieder nur bestätigen...Liebherr ist der König & Mercedes unter den Kranen.
Ich fahre seit fast 30 Jahren Turmdrehkrane und Liebherr ist die absolute Nummer 1.

    Great video again!
Why do some countries prefer these luffing jib cranes and other countries prefer the once with horizontal beam and a moving "cradle"?

This mostly comes down to the urban plan, city regulations and of course, the actual construction site. Luffing tower cranes are used in confined spaces such as high-rise buildings or dense city center projects. These cranes provide outstanding hight and lifting capacity with the added ability of reducing the slewing radius (Because of the variable jib position).

@@urbanie Thank you, that makes sense. I first saw these cranes in Sydney about 20 years ago in urban construction as you say. I had never seen them before and they still seem relatively rare around Germany and the UK.

@@YensR Yeah, in Germany, flat or high-top cranes are dominant, but in the UK, I have seen quite a lot of luffing cranes. Here in Croatia for example, there's not a single crane of this type, there's only high top cranes, even flat tops are scarce. Glad to give you an answer, even though I'm 7 years late 🤣
