I've got 'Fast and Fancy' by Ed McGivern and one of his revolver tricks was to flip a washer with a postage stamp over the hole. The washer was flipped and he would draw his revolver and shoot the stamp through the hole in the washer. See you in about 12 years.
50 yds at a dime-size target standing with open sights. Now that's a real challenge. Figured it would take a few rounds to make the shot, but I have confidence in ya.👍 In this day and age of scoped plastic rifles, it's refreshing to see a more purist approach. Well done!👏
@SaintAndrewTV Andrew, when I saw the intro I said to myself; I think if anyone can pull this off with a model 94 it's Andrew. He knows his rifle.👍 Funny thing. In my late 60s I had cataracts so bad I was blind in my right eye and had only about 2/3rds vision in the left. I was nervous even driving. But after cataract surgery in both eyes I could see 20ga shells on a stump at 100m and hit em with a 45Colt rifle fairly well. But I can't use a dot or scope. Good thing too as I don't like optics anyway! 😅 Keep on blasting stuff! The plastic weapons guys are just jealous that they don't real firearms 😅🤣
@anangryranger thanks for the confidence boost! I’m glad you got your eyes in check! Vision for marksmen is key! And doing it with a 45 makes it all the more impressive! But you saying that did give me a video idea! As for the plastic, it’s the aluminum bat for shooters. Anyone can hit a baseball far with an aluminum bat!
Hi Saint Andrew. Thanks for trying the shot although what you tried was considerably more difficult. Not only was the range 50% longer but it’s hard to harder to drill a dime with a .30 caliber than a .22 caliber. A little more detail. The rifle he used was a Savage .22 LR bolt action rifle with a peep sight. I don’t know the exact model number but he purchased it somewhere in the 1960s. It was a great rifle with a very nice action. I could chamber a new round just by rotating my wrist while aligning my sight picture. I used to have unofficial contests with a friend who had a .22 LR auto loader and I was able to shoot as fast as he was because it took me less time to chamber then to acquire the sight picture. I won lots of hams and turkeys and competitions with it. I think the rifle was better than me.😂 By the way, he also uused a backdrop because it’s pretty hard to see a dime at 100 feet. Thanks again for reenacting this shot. May your channel continue to grow and continue to advocate for responsible firearm ownership and use.
Well I appreciate you giving me a challenging shot to try! I also have no doubt that it’s easier at 100 feet with a .22, but I really wanted to challenge myself. You’ll like the video in a couple weeks because my friend also did attempt the shot! I’ll have to get a .22 to maybe lighten the ammunition finds needed to complete it! Thank you again, friend! I’ll look into the savage .22 bolt action or something similar to it!
knew an old dude that had a Winchester .32 special, whom added a Creedmoor sight with a penny complete with a hole drilled through, and covered with solder to take advantage of any available "light". he also couldn't count all his kids on both hands. Anyway i digress, he commonly dropped deer that would offer their sustenance at three hundred yards or more up across his field as times were tough, and he had many mouths to feed.
My cousin and I would shoot the stems off walnuts from the tree at 20' then at 30 feet we would shoot crickets out of each other fingers. This was done with .22 rifle. Not as good as the famous Topperweins, but still not bad for a couple of Hillbillies! He taught me by taking the old Christmas lights at 50', spring the colored glass, then laying them down and sitting the solder out of the base.
I’m not sure about that, but what I can tell you is that I was starting to get so much heat coming off the barrel, it was giving the target the mirage effect. I wasn’t even aimed at the dime when I hit it!
LOL my dad suing a Winchester Mod 62A he got after Korea could bust walnuts on the fly every time that dine trick was everyday shooting , he tought me well!!!
@@BigRooster616 Factory ammo is costly to be sure. But I believe Andrew has sources to cover that. At least with custom ammo designed for his weapons. 😉
My father had a pair of revolvers. One was chambered in .44 magnum and the other in .22LR. The main reason for the second revolver was economy while target shooting.😂

I appreciate it! Nothing better than the traditional wood and steel! And who needs a scope when you have 20/10 vision? Haha!

Good video. I like west wild history, specially from the outlaw dentist.

How do you get by without a .22 rifle?
With a 30-30
Beige, my second favourite colour, after brown.
As I see saguaros on the hill, aren't you shooting near superstition mountains in Arizona.
Sort of. I’m in Arizona, but I wasn’t necessarily close to the Superstition Mountains this day.
Way to go!!!
Thank you!
Brother can you spare a dime?
(Good shot!)
Haha! Thank you!
I knew you’d get there! Cheers!
Tougher than I thought it would be! Thank you!

Does the heating of the barrel affect accuracy? I would think that the bullet wouldn't be as tight in the bore of a heated barrel.

How do you get to Carnegie Hall? Practice, Practice, Practice!
Awesome!
Thank you!
Numb nutts Maulion says cut the dime at a hundred
That looks like a group 12 inches across.
I suppose you would have been really unlucky to miss the dime.
Unlucky is my middle name.

I’m glad I could help!
Did you know that cactus can talk? They just told me that you are in Arizona.
They’ve been known to do that from time to time.
Yea, they even speak English!!
Two weeks later. Just joking man.
Your shooting in a burn scar of the desert😢
You better buy yourself a 22 cuz you just burned about $100 worth of 30/30 ammo trying to shoot a dime 😂

Plus the cost of the dime.
