Narrated Salman-Al-Farsi:
The Prophet (s.a.w)) said, "Whoever takes a bath on Friday, purifies himself as much as he can, then uses his (hair) oil or perfumes himself with the scent of his house, then proceeds (for the Jumua prayer) and does not separate two persons sitting together (in the mosque), then prays as much as (Allah has) written for him and then remains silent while the Imam is delivering the Khutba, his sins in-between the present and the last Friday would be forgiven."

Dukhan sounds like nuclear winter description I have heard recently.
Just like to express that Allah will end the world, not the mankind. ALLAH (SWT) will do it for good cuz only he knows better. HE is the all wise. The descriptions in lectures of end of time that are planned for the creations of Allah (SWT) can be backed up by physics and collapse of the regularity of the universe and elements of galaxy.
Yes brother many will still deny it even when they see the signs.

I do interpret most of the signs symbolically :
- fighting with swords = sharp words of Truth
- the smoke making the disbelievers unconscious = the massive flood of deep fake and fake news and witchy Netflix etc
but for the sun raising from the West, I was still expecting it to really happen. Your interpretation is interesting.

Islam literally means Submission to God
A Muslim is one who Submits to God alone, Jesus did not submit to anyone but God i.e. Muslim.

I agree with your broad definition of being a Muslim which is wise but the everyday life people don't use it that way, why not using the world "believer in the one God" instead of Muslim which will be fairer for the believers of the other versions of the Book? 😉
Did you see any of the signs yet? I saw plenty. People are so sleepy, even the scholars sometimes. Only exoteric no subtle interpretation... Isa will come back when people are completely ignorant and just praying will be a shield as they cannot think properly anymore.
The magnetic field of the earth changes regularly over time, which makes the poles (north and south) change too, causing the North Pole to become south, and the south pole to become north. This changes west into east and vice versa. So the sun will be in its normal place, the earth moving as normal but the compass will show north as being “downwards” to what was the south, and south “upwards” to what used to be north. So the sun will rise in what has become west but used to be the east.
This change can occur very quickly, or take a very long time, in which case the oceans will be in turmoil, as directions and flow change. Compasses won’t work like normal etc. Also, radiation from the sun might get through. It is like a cataclysmic event, especially if it takes its time. This change of the magnetic field has occurred a good few times in the history of the earth, and scientists have even been able to calculate the average time between each time. We are well beyond the next time that it is supposed to happen. This is just another thing which shows that the Qur’an is very hard to explain for anyone as it contains scientific facts that were unknown at the time when it was revealed. The separation/barrier between sweet and saltwater, the universe being shaped like a doughnut (ring), etc, are all things we discovered or in more recent times.

Before all fitnah will finish after Messiah kills Dajjal and Allah kills yajuj and majuj this will be a the end before rapture when Christ dies and is buried in Medina.
I have a question: Why is it said that, when the Dabbah comes, there will be no muslim left, but when the Dukhan happens, we have to memorize a dua to protect us from it? At what time or sign is no muslim left on earth and are even muslims left when the major signs occur?

Sun rising from west, could mean both things, one is sun literally rising from west, and other meaning, that western people will convert to Islam. These can be both true. Latter does not have to be wrong!
