    Mein Gott! A 22 in 3-ft surf in LI Sound was just kid stuff compared to this. In 1964 I automated N. LI lighthouses: Gt. Captains, Greens Reef, etc.

    How do these boats compare to the latest classes of RNLI AW lifeboats?

    • @garyechols9458
      @garyechols9458 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tamar-class is RNLB, a 53', it carries inflatables. Shannon-class lifeboat, Length 13.6 m (44 ft 7 in). I did not see any boats that work in the surf. 47′ MLB is designed to weather hurricane force winds and heavy seas, capable of surviving winds up to 60 knots (110 km/h), breaking surf up to 6 m (20 ft) and impacts up to three G's.

      @@garyechols9458 actually, the Shannon class is equivalent to the 47' MLB in many aspects. Speed, range, water jet driven, severe weather capable. The Shannon's are self righting (unless they're carrying an emergency excess of passengers)

    I get sea sick every time I watch these types of video’s. Should come with a health warning.

    • @erichammond9308
      @erichammond9308 ปีที่แล้ว

      No one should get seasick in those conditions, everyone is too gassed on adrenaline! It's when you get offshore in a slow monotonous rolling swell that it hits you if you're prone to that sort of thing.
