I am so glad that someone is talking about my history haha. I was born and raised in Serbia as a Hungarian family with the family name of Hunyadi. My ancestors came from Hungary, they were proud to be called as such, just as I am today. ❤❤

In Poland we have a saying abt Hungary being our best friends
    Polak Węgier
    dwa bratanki
    I do szabla
    I do szklanki
    Translations
    Pole and Hungarian
    Two brothers
    To the sword
    And to the glass(shot glass)

I definitely don’t want to discourage you, but there are a couple inaccuracies in your video.
Lake Balaton is not a thermal lake.
From the Danube to the west is not Dacia, but Pannonia.
Transylvania was not conquered by Louis the great, it was already part of the Kingdom for centuries.
John Hunyadi was not a king.
Battle of Mohács was not in 1541, but in 1526.

actually, you can easily learn how to pronounce Hungarian words, since the written form corresponds very well with the spoken language, not like in the case of English which is truly a nightmare for learners 😂 (okay, there are assimilations and minor stuffs, but you can read intelligible without knowing them) unfortunately the trickiest exceptions are the personal names which are in some case written according to older spelling rules.
btw, thank you for your very smoothing and interesting videos!

For whatever reason, it was a little bit after this video that Hungarian finally started to click in my mind. I've become a lot better at it, I hope that will show in the next two videos I put out!

Was surprised the Austro-Hungarian Empire was only officially formed in 1867. Much shorter lived that I thought. Also surprised the Russians played a prominent role in its formation. Have been into Hungary 3 times and it is a really fascinating place. The Austrian influence is there but seems very different to the more Germanic/Catholic orientated Austria. Huns and Alans have these connections with the Scythians and in my view the Scythians are very early eastward migrating Irish. These eastward migrating Irish throw a massive spanner in the works of conventional history teachings. But it seems to me Hungary was a major settlement of some of these these people (Huns and Alans) who migrated back west much later to become important cultures of Central Europe.
Your channel is a great way to get these conventional/official history teachings. I have alternative views on history but it is important to put all that in perspective with the conventional teachings. I think you have one of the most easy listening ASMR voices/whispers to brush up on conventional history. Very, very relaxing. Really appreciate your dedication to the channel.

I thought it was a much older empire too! I guess I always considered the Habsburg Empire to also be called the Austro-Hungarian Empire, but that wasn't always the case! And thank you so much, your comments are always so kind :)

I like trying to pronounce things in the native accent/culture haha, when it's something my tongue is completely foreign to though I'll always preface and say I give up after a futile attempt. 😅
Also my brain immediately goes to Austria, Beer, and farms when I hear Hungary. Same with Germany. . .
I'm not familiar with this area of Europe yet.

There is a big mistake. When Árpád go into the carpats he invade all the carpats. 8:40 so thats not the time when we get transilvanya because transilvanya was the part of Hungary all time because transilvanya in the carpats.

I really don't think Hungary is on the up-and-up unfortunately. It's more like a source of cheap labour for Western Europe.
