Interesting & enjoyable vid as ever. Thanks for covering my comment guys. Really appreciate it! Essentially the 8R looks better & it can do everything the 8S can & more while retaining similar comfort too.
I think the weathers played some part in faired or unfaired sales, last year for most was utter crap for sunshine, constant storms bleeding into this year, folk have had enough of freezing to death and constant soakings and i think folk are opting for comfort and weather protection more, if weathers poor your still likely to get out more with a bit of comfort.
It's possible the naked trend has died - it probably reached it's peak around the time the Triumph Street Triple 765 came out. Since then, everyone seems to have gone adventure bike crazy. But on the socials, I see a lot of riders opting for a sporty bike that's fully faired (might be the generally higher price of adventure bikes as well as being physically challenging for those of us who aren't blessed with long legs). The new Ninja ZX-4RR is going to be pretty popular.
I reckon BMW is gonna do a massive surprise and the new performance boxer will not be an R18M or M18 but a R13M or M13 and it will get the new 1300cc GS engine. In a much lighter and sporty chassis. BMW just launched the R12 range so a crazy version of that bike will be more up to date. Especially when the new boxer engine has the gearbox underneath it so the cylinder heads are already mounted higher than on the standard 1200cc oil and air cooled boxer. The R18 engine is very low reviving so it would require a shift cam technology to get it to rev higher to produce some competitive power figures. The only thing that BMW can do is to go down their history path they use to have boxer race bikes with compressor force induction. So a R18 with a compressor supercharger would easily get some interesting power figures.
The clutch isn't the biggest issue with electric bikes - it's the lack of interaction and feel. A manual gearbox would go a long way to help this (Electrogenic showed off a Porsche 356 with an electric motor and a manual gearbox - so it can be done).
If I could go to a charging station and exchange my battery instead of plugging it up at home or waiting at a charging station I’d get an electric bike. Until then, gas.
Anything needs to be done to save that Turd R18, they need to get rid of that classic look, Classic looks are so late 90, early 2000s. Modernize it, but I’m afraid even then, it’ll just collect dust in showrooms, and 10k rebates. 👎🤮
The only reason we have to put up with sheeeeeeeet like a simulated clutch is for old folk that don't like change. These people hold the world back. Lets still have manuals and DCT and lets sa e the money wasted on pointlessness to please grumpy blokes. It just ends up costing everyone.

Would be cool to see honda build some actual cafe racer vintage bikes not neo retro ones...

That's attractive

If that's an R18 Roadster or something, I'm in
The 8R's fairing looks sooo much better than the cheap looking insecty 8S
Is it only me or does tim look quite similar to Lorenzo Savadori??
Electric motions trails bike has clutch Trails tube have videos from a few years ago

A fake clutch on an electric bike, will not fix the issues that matter! Not even close.
