Clicking like before the first couple of seconds of the video is the only appropriate way to like a Wiley Sharp video. I really do think Sunreef is my favorite builder.
On a unique catamaran like this, I would love to see the mechanical spaces. I understand that may not always be possible because of many reasons. If possible, in future videos could you try to give us a peak of what's down there. I'm very curious about the electrical spaces used.
Great suggestion.
As someone who has been mainly a motor yacht fan, I also admire and enjoy sailing. I would have liked to have seen the technical features of the sail mechanics and how that connects with electronic navigation, etc. Thank for your appealing style of presentation.

What a unique boat for Sunreef. I love the reclaimed teak and other recycled materials on the boat and its unique propulsion system. From another video I watched it seems that their electric drives also generate electricity while under sail (as I recall) and can recharge the batteries in as little as 10 hours of sailing at 7 knots. Plus, the AC runs off the batteries and can keep the boat cool all night long. It also has a backup diesel engine in case there's no wind and it get cloudy out and that diesel engine has a 1000 mile range. Still, in tropical regions of the world, they probably never have to use it. Thanks for you video. Very informative.
Great boat. Powerball is up to 150 million, if I win I’m calling you for this one. Lol
You'll have to go Poland to order one . About 45 minutes ride from where I was born .
Just buy it online

Officially my favorite boat ever. Another great walk-through Wiley!
Thanks for watching Rene
cruises at 7 knots with only motor?! Wow! This is my favourite thus far. Man if you could set up a rainwater catchment system, fish, and set up a raised bed area to grow food..... you're set!
Off grid life :)
Awesome yacht. Way out of the reach of most people who sail, but as always, Sunreef knocked this one out of the park.
Thanks for making this video. I hope there is more development in this area & more builds.
You and me both Rusty.
slow 360’s of everything makes a good video. do a complete 360 of each room, each deck, the bow, the stern, everything. slow 360’s. do that and your videos will get rave reviews. just do that and all the comments gonna be wow man , loved your detailed video 💯
Thanks for the tips!
Stunning boat . What speeds can it manage with sail , power and what would be the range assuming full battery charge
Thanks for the tour! We are thinking about living on a boat like this. Can you point out things like where the dishwasher, washing machine, ice maker are? Also - storage is always cool to learn about. The living space inside seems limited so I'm wondering about that and where the family would hang out while underway. Does the table out front stay there or can it be stored too? TIA!!
Sunreef 60 Electric Hybrid...… when is the Florida Show? What is the base listing price? Can it be delivered to Trinidad and what is lead time?
I love Catamaran.. thank you for the Video! ❤️ n Respect from 🇮🇩 👍🏼
is it possible to get a diesel generator also if the sun is not shining for some days?
Hi, I'd like to know the weight difference between the "normal" Sunreef 60 and the Sunreef 60 Electric. And thanks for showing us this amazing eco-friendly catamaran!
Yanick Godbout- Check the specs on this boat. She’s anything but eco-friendly. With 134kwh battery bank and a 90kw diesel genset she has 45 (Group 4D) more batteries than her standard sister ship, the same diesel engine equivalent for the ‘under powered’ model.
Diesel electric hybrids are fantastic for many inconsistent final-power-application scenarios; but by trying to couple it with the lightweight needs of a multihull and the phony ‘Green’ désire to enjoy propulsion without simultaneously running an internal combustion engine, is an elitists way of laughing at all the little people that fall for the sales pitch.
All those perishable lithium batteries make Mother Earth cringe more than a pair of high efficiency turbo diesels could do in their lifetime...and be overhauled and do it again!
Tisk tisk Sunreef.
But she is a beautiful boat. I have a 70 or so footer anchored right by me here in St. George’s, Grenada. Great boats.
And I made all my water from my solar panels today...hehe. 35 gallons per hour and no genset. Boom baby 👊
And hi Wiley😉
@@svstellamaris6130 I'm confused, the question was about weight but you made a point about being green. You also implied that it was heavier but didn't actually do the math. So your 45 extra 4D batteries is an additional 5500lbs (2500KG). Any boat of this class will have a genset so that can be considered a wash but you might save weight on a smaller one. Two 75hp to 110hp Yanmar engines would be about 1100lbs (500kg). Fuel is about 2200lbs(1000kg) to 4700lbs (2131kg). The genset needs some amount of fuel but I couldn't find a capacity for it. The electric motors also weigh something, but typically they are very light.
Depending on how much fuel is on board both boats, the electric is probably at best break even and with half empty fuel tanks 2200 lbs heavier.
Greg Breland
Hi Greg. My comment about the fake ‘eco-friendly’ nature of this model was specifically targeting the latter part of the OP’s comment. Since I do know the standard model, I’ll put some of your figures in line a bit for any other would be readers
Batteries are spec’d for lithium, constituting an addition 2,500lbs, considérable savings over lead acid type chemistries.
The genset is anything but a wash. Typical size for this model is a 13kw; unless additional air con segmentation is desired. A 13k genset is 315kg, the genset on this boat is 1,420kg. So there’s another 2,500lbs. But like you said primary diesels weigh something, 75hp (55kw) is the appropriate size for this vessel: 250kg/each. Net difference, additional 1,350lbs.
Fuel should not have been brought up. It is a wash. The large solar array will allow a lower burn rate when moored (anchored or dock), but the same total fuel must be onboard since this vessel’s primary propulsion is still the diesel genset to electric motors for anything besides very short movements.
The electric motors I don’t know about specifically, they likely weigh in the 100kg range. So another 450lbs total.
The solar array is weight is about approximated at around 650 pounds. Typical wattage per pound are 5 to 10 depending on efficiency, framing, and type (rigid/flexible/dual faced). I’ll leave this out since this boat can feasibly run the main salon and main cabin air con with the solar if managed correctly (though only likely with the owners aboard, this oat will be in charter, and they will turn on the genset).
So, all in all heavier in the 4,500 pound range. That is anything but a ‘wash’.
I’m all for hybrid propulsion platforms, but this is yet another example of marketing running amuck with solid engineering. And solid engineering is almost ALWAYS more environmentally friendly. The engineers were likely forced to save the weight somewhere else. That is the alarming question: where?
Good day.
What’s not covered here but is by nautistyles longer review is that the main batteries can be recharged by the electric motors while sailing. There is also quick peek into engine space
Does anybody know the price? Very nice I enjoy your walk-thru no unnecessary dribbling and precise descriptions .Thank you for an enjoyable walk-thru.

I didn't catch of you said they had different layouts,,, do they?
Multiple layout options. Shoot me an email, and Id be more than happy to share with you. Wiley@CatamaranCentral.com
Amazing craftsmanship! But does this grain alignment bother anyone else? 7:16
Very luxurious, but at this price point I expect concealed pv panel junction boxes and wiring...woof.
I thought you may cover off more of the electric systems.
very nice boat, everything on it!
Thanks for watching!
Hi w. Can you get an 80 that way and e with no sails
Very well integrated design. I miss the electric drive shot through.
I didn't shoo the mechanical space in the video. It was super clean and tidy though.
Can you walk/stand on that hard top to work the sail into the bag?
I'm not sure. I will have to ask the shipyard.
Only if you never stand on the cells. Only the structure holding them up is stable enough to hold the weight of a person.
@@tigersharkzh that's what I figured. It looks great, but would it be a practical limitation?
@@mikesorensen5 I've never seen a Sunreef with a sail bag, they all have big a V boom and if you look through photos online you'll see that most have mast steeps to get up into that V boom. The flybridge sunroof is also not even half as long as the boom so access to the boom from on top of the sunroof is limited anyway and even from there access isn't great or practical so the question if the hardtop can be walked or steped on is almost irrelevant.
@@tigersharkzh Yes, I see what you mean. I'm not familiar with the V Boom usage. Do you just leave the sail sitting in it? Seems like there should still be a cover when not in use.
how heavy is the displacement?
I appreciate your videos. I saw that cruising capacity is 6hrs @ 7 knots. I assume that batteries are somewhat recharging during the 6hrs.. Or would you guess/know that the 6hrs includes recharging during depletion? Thanks!
the fly-bridge solar roof looks pretty similar like in what most Arcadia Yachts series have built in
How much battery storage? Is it lithium or LiFePo4 batteries?
Great question. Let me find out.
LiFePO4 are lithium.... dumb question...

Hi
Does anyone know what the difference in price is between this boat and a similar version but only diesel?
Thanks.
Do they have a version without the sails?
They sure do. If you want to send me an email I'll share some info with you. My email is Wiley@denisonyachting.com
You were right Wiley! What dreams are made of, in my book!
IT is such a cool freaking boat
Do have a question regarding price on the e60 and the regular at lease a starting price
If you shoot me an email I can share some details with you. My email is Wiley@denisonyachting.com
Is this better than silent yacht?
I personally think it is far better than the Silent.
Also any advice between the two of them
I'm always surprised to not see bifacial panels on sailboats. The water reflects light and energy so well-planned panel roofing can create an enormous amount of daytime power.
Cool vessel. Bottom line ?
IT really depends on the options at the end of the day. Each Sunreef is a semi custom boat, and prices vary. I would suspect she'd cost around $3.5 to 3.7 to follow the option sheet.
Cost? Was looking at Silent Yachts as well.
Shoot me an email, and I'd happily share that info with you. My email is Wiley@DenisonYachting.com
Hi Wiley! You are the master at catamaran walkthroughs! Beautiful yacht! I saw another vid on this boat and it gave only a fraction of the details you did. Kudos!
I do have a few general questions about electric catamarans though. There is so little information out there about production electric catamarans. Maybe this could be a topic for a future video.
What kind of range can they expect without running the generator? I get this would vary based on battery bank size, but being realistic size-wise, what could one expect? How does the cost compare versus traditional diesel? For example, if you were building new, what is the incremental cost going all electric w/generator on a 40-45' catamaran assuming they are configured with the same systems.
I'm not so interested in the "green" or low emission aspect of electric. I'm more interested in a simplification of systems on board.
Thoughts?
I saw another video of this and think there is a crew quarter. Is this true and where is it? Good info.
There is. Accessed through the cockpit. port aft.
Cost difference between regular 60 and 60E? Thanks
Its just 60 feet of beds, chairs, and showers. Where do you put your stuff?
Hi Wiley, did you hear if there was any talk about Sunreef 80 electric. How would you compare the interior quality between a Sunreef 60 electric, and a Silent Yacht 55, apart from their size difference. Would love to hear your opinion. Love your work, and dedication to your videos.
yes id love to know this exact question as well. The 80 and also the comparison of interior quality.
Im looking at both the Silent yachts and now open to considering the Sunreef E version. I thought they would never budge from their loud diesel engines. Thanks!
The Sunreef blows the Silent yacht out of the water.
Boom furler would be perfect with that solar design. I think in a boat this luxury though I'd have to spec the flybridge hot tub. :)
its got the space for it lol
Thanks for your effort you always put in your videos. Although many questions arose...
What‘s the price range est.?
out of curiosity, this kind of boat can be handled by the owner for a simple day out of the harbor or does it always need a professional crew?
iff ur motoring i think single man would be fine, not sure tho
Are there crew quarters?
There are crew accommodation for 3
What’s the price tag for the 60 electric? I want one:)

What is the cost?!
What kind of solar panels are being used on this boat?
Whats the basic price for such a boat? I love it!

...but does the couch on the tender lift come with the boat? :) love the design. The solar layout is what I've been pushing for on other commercial vessels. The individual cells create a nice shade and without a backer, the cells do perform better. What weight can this top support? Can someone stand atop the solar Bimini to address any issues with the boom or sail? I would have liked to have seen the motors as well, but I understand in FLL they're not really into that. Nice job though....
The price?
can i make a request, i would love to see Silent Yacht 80 on board. it would be Awsome!
thanks. 😀
Are there any other production sailing cats with electric propulsion?
A number of projects in the work, but mostly on the semi custom side of things.
Wiley Sharp Catamaran Expert thanks.
Hopefully a major shop is on it.
Damnit Wiley! If only it had a mid helm I would buy it.
They'll do whatever kind of helm you want on her ;)
What did the engine/power room look like? Some details about power system would be cool because the numbers and stats you cite seem out of this world! Also, it be cool if you compared it something like Silent Yachts.
I’ve always been curious, how much weight do you save by having a carbon mast and boom?
I'm not sure of the number, but its significant.
It is definitelly not THAT significant! The thing started with race boats where every kg up there counting, but on a barge this size and this heavy its a mute or better said marketing point.
And before someone says “yea but carbon can be stronger than steel”, you do actually want some torsion flexibility which comes naturally with alu masts. And also lightning strikes (which are not uncommon) can easily be grounded trough mast and rigging unlike carbon masts which litteraly splinter on such a strike! Bear this in mind.
Cheers
@@stormtrooper9404 not to mention, that Carbon is a lightning magnet... Its in the same range as copper.
@@attackhelicopter7403 From my understanding it's not in the same range as copper, at all. Instead of writing a long comment, I'll just post a link to someone who has www.quora.com/Does-carbon-fibre-conduct-electricity-Why-or-why-not
I've heard 20%. But i don't think the strength is always comparable.
What is the durability of this cat in open water for 9 to 12 months? Of anyone can point me to a review or segment where this ships durability and viability is tested would appreciate it. Sailing from Florida to Caribbean through the Panama canal and on to the south pacific is a long journey. Weeks are sea on long passages. Things break, whats the back up plan for the electric motors, the brain chip that runs it all? I love these boats and the design, but I don't see any vids in regards to long on board sailing or is this cat only for the Caribbean or Mediterranean? Curious i am.
Where the beauty is manufactured?
I missed it i guess,,,, Price?
@@LimitedWard LOL roger that.
How much is this?
Hey Wiley, love your vids & the Sunreef's. One thing, the helm is exposed? there seems to be no way of drop down side curtains/storm curtains to the left & at front of the helm? being exposed to a bit of beam on wind and rain would take the fun out of it after a few hours of being wet & cold. Do they have any way for side & front curtains at the helm?
4500KW? probably meant 4500W
I know right? I was thinking you could power a small town with 4500000 watts. LOL
4500 kW is A LOT. But 4500 W is too little. But I think 4500 kW is correct since this thing is massive.
Wiley, couldn’t you have given us a peek at the engine space?
Has anyone ever tested this vessel in the open seas in the middle of a storm with 20 foot waves coming at it? The only thing that gives me pause to the solar catamarans with the letter G engines is the question of are these electric engines strong enough to keep a catamaran pointed into 20 foot waves in the middle of a thunderstorm? I know that a catamaran with dual diesel engines is strong enough but I'm not so sure I'm ready to put my life in the hands of this vessel or anything like it. You're talking about getting out in the middle of the Pacific or the Atlantic Ocean during a major storm 15 to 20 foot plus sees and your only source of power to keep that vessel in mind pointed into the waves is the sales which are down and your electric motors? And even if it is able to do so in a short 24 hour or less storm what about if it's a protracted storm here Florida weakness sometimes get storm fronts move through that are here for a week or more. If you get a storm out in the middle of the Pacific for example that is protracted and last a week or more and you don't have any sunshine and you're constantly fighting to keep the vessel righted and pointed into the huge waves for entire week and you have no wind in your sails because the sails are down Then your batteries die and you have no sunshine for the solar panels and you run out of fuel for your generators in this protracted storm that you are dead in the water with 15 to 20 foot waves with no recourse and you're dead! The only way I would be feeling safer is get rid of the mast and sails and equipped the vessel with twin diesel engines and twin electric motors with a large lithium battery bank and solar panels and a substantial sized dual diesel fuel tanks as well as dual diesel generators I like redundancy and I like power and I like options I don't like to be painted into a wall that puts my life in the life of my family in jeopardy I don't trust your configuration or others just like it currently the industry's idea of a hybrid catamaran is solar and sails. But I submit that you should have found a way by now to be the first to offer all of it why do we have to choose? Why can't you have uh sailboat will solar and electric motors huge lithium battery bank with twin diesel engines then you have three sources of proportion and energy and then why not also equipped the vessel with hydro turbines or better yet like at least one manufacturer I know let the rotation of the propellers of the twin diesels and the twin electric motors generate edited like a hydro turbo and use it to send additional energy back into the batteries quite short I don't give a damn about the price and rich people don't either if you offer them options if you offer them solutions if you offer them value high value for their money they're going to buy it so stop being cheap asshats I started juicing a quality high end product all that fancy cosmetics that you put inside your vessels are fine but they will not save your life in the middle of the ocean!
Run those numbers past me again, did you say 4500kw of solar ? And 2 days of constant use on batteries alone or permanent use on sunny days ?
Based on panel sizes I would have to say that he meant 4500 watts but if it is able to run at 6 knots on solar alone with 55kw motors the math doesn't quite add up
Yeah, no way 4500kw. He corrected to 4500w at 7:20.
Can a washing machine be added in this system?
That is a good point. I wonder if it was located elsewhere. I am pretty sure Silent Yachts offers a washer/dryer combo.
Non furling main?
Is your accent Canadian or North East US, like PA area? Love the way you say bowt.
Maryland, specifically Baltimore/Annapolis.
I was born and raised in Florida believe it or not ;)
Would the owners of this catamaran, need a crew? Or can a sailing couple handle this by themselves?
That is a cool boat for sure.
I like where this is going!... Wiley, do you know Energy Observer? She is "concept" or something like that, and I know hydrogen is a long way from being safe to handle and available for "regular" sailing boat owners, so lets no consider it for my questions... She is covered on really cool and modern solar panels (which I LOVE the look) and she has two masts with OceanWings. Questions: What do you think about this boat? What do you think about the concept of OceanWings? I know the automation of the sails and all that takes a little bit of the "fun" out of sailing, but who also mean the learning to operate them is a lot less than that of regular sails. (There is also the Silence Yatch brand, but Im not sure about the real life range.)
How much
To build one will cost around $4m USD
@@catamarancentral what's the build time?
@@CompToyZ shoot me an email at Wiley@CatamaranCentral.com and we can discuss build time/options/pricing.
Dude! a great review. I just watched the 34 minute abortion of the previous vid of this same boat. Your's was short and covered more than theirs.
Seriously that one was a real waste of time. Though they did tease out that it has only about 40 miles of range on electric even in sunlight. Tip is in the numbers 4.5 kw/h of generation and 2? 55 kw motors. Even running at half power you need to charge for like 12 hours to run motors for 1 hour. Get stuck with no wind for a few days and it's all genny.
I should point out that the battery bank is good for like 6 hours of running, but, no matter what they apparently told Wiley, It's not going to do 7 knots 'as long as there is sunlight.'

Superb video.
A suggestion take a little time to pan around the areas you are showing us especially the salon your footage apears disjointed it would have been interesting to see the Motors battery bank location and a little more detail on the deak and mast gear. As for this cat I don't see it as ideal for world cruising it's just too exposed in really heavy. If you dream it they can build it.
@@catamarancentral No, well at least not on a cruising cat. If you were as you call yourself a catamaran expert then you would know that there's only one catamaran that is even close to having that capability and it requires carefull passage planing with the correct route, season and weather.
