Well, it is confirmed that William mentally abused his kids. The only one that was less abused was Elizabeth. Proof:
1-The nightmares are illusion discs, probably made by William to scare the Crying Child. What type of father would do that?
2-William told Michael to go and free Elizabeth's soul, even if he knew the Funtimes were built by him to kill children; so most likely he wanted Michael to die.
3- He would constantly warn Elizabeth not to go near Circus Baby. That shows that he had a "small" preference over her, but super small, since he also treated her badly as it showed the books [The Silver Eyes] and [The Fourth Closet].
So basically William did not care 'bout his kids, he only liked Elizabeth a little bit because she wasn't annoying and wouldn't break his things like the other two. Also, Elizabeth is the one that helps him in EVERYTHING on the books, so yes, in William's point of view she is the most useful out of the three kids.
But well, every channel has an AU, and I respect yours.
