🤣🤣 I felt her pain. Every time I play Lathril it’s the same for me. I get going quick. The 1-2 board wipes happen and I am left with no mana, a commander that costs 8, and no solid way to rebuild and claw back into the game.
Finally had the time to sit and watch this video. Great to see see Elly and Pax finally make their debut. Pax was there tearing out hearts. I was hearing the Vince McMahon intro music as he played on. Elly, so close, yet so far. Chris making Pax fight for it but just not enough tricks in the bag. Joe....well....you did your best. 😆
Elly and Pax made this stream so much fun. They were so excited to play, since they’re not jaded to the whole streaming experience like the rest of us lol
I felt a bad that Elly was missing land drops..but I couldn't help but shudder everytime she would let mana fizzle for no reason. Many players probably forget that bounce lands tap for 2 so, she had 6 mana since turn 6. In an elf deck, the curve usually caps at 6 & I was excited to see her flood the board after the wipes!
That elemental technically was a 10/10, as Pax had a card in exile with time counters on it (a sorcery i beleive). Cling to dust, he shouldn't have drew a card as the card he exiled was a creature (which rick is a creature) the cling says gain 3 if it was a creature, otherwise( if it isnt) draw a card...
You’re probably right about the elemental. I was just going off what the table had said during the game. The cling to dust was definitely a mistake. Thanks for checking out our content and catching that. Keeps me on my toes in the future
Thank you for that correction! I keep on upgrading Cody with old / new instants and sorceries to avoid whiffs as much as possible. Feedback definitely helps me understand the cards better and for future gameplay. Appreciate it! 😃 - Pax
At 9:22, was that a valid play? Codie's ability for Sylvan Reclamation (5 CMC), would that have stopped for a 6 CMC card (Road/Ruin)? Thought the total CMC of the card was counted not it's halves (on split cards) Asking because I'm building Codie myself and would like to know what's legal. Lol
That looks like a misplay. Going by the Ahomkhet rules change article written by Eli Shiffren on the magic website written 4/7/17, split cards combine all characteristics as long as they are not on the stack. Going by that, it looks like an illegal target.
Hate to add another slight misplay, but this Codie deck seems similar to one that i've built, so I probably judge it too harshly, BUT - at 14:51 when he plays Reshape the Earth and codie's ability exiles a Brainstorm, he forgets that Codie's ability allows you to play it *until end of turn*. Brainstorm is a powerful way to set up a custom codie trigger - whether you get super value by free casting a 7 mana spell, or you just put a land second from the top to get put on the bottom of your library. If you play it and then play Reshape the Earth - you shuffle your library and mess up your custom trigger, when you could let reshape the earth resolve first. edit: also, I don't think you could play the profane tutor with the in garruk's wake on the stack. Codie's ability doesn't ignore timing restrictions unlike regular cascade afaik. That would be nuts though - say you play a clone legion or an expropriate and codie's ability gets you a profane tutor. With the spell still on the stack you could go get a reverberate or a twincast and copy the spell :O. That said, if you had something like Lelyine of Anticipation or Vedalken Orrery out, allowing you to cast spells as though they had flash, you would be able to do some nasty stuff like that lol.
Elly fell prey to what mine and all Lathril decks do, board wipes. I started amassing ways of protecting my board state and key pieces like Lathril. Be it hexproofing, making indestructible or regenerating, green and black can do these things in spades and now that most boardwipes rarely prevent regeneration you'd be surprised how easy a single success at preventing a board clear from your opponents clenches you the game.
I might have miss something but when Pax cast the Epiphany, why does he put back 3 counter on the inspering refrain? Never really play with suspend card, so I was expecting it to hit the graveyard (or stay in exile) after being cast, not having another go on the card. Or I miss something
The card reads "Draw 2 cards. Exile Inspiring Refrain with 3 time counters on it" So it will continuously exile itself once it is successfully cast. Pretty cool effect but pricey.
I know this video is a year now. But all slit cards while not on the stack have combined mana cost. So you can’t get road/ ruin and cast it with Codie’s effect. The ruling for that was made in 2017. So there is no excuse for this. It’s not even a mess play it’s flat out cheating. Because of this your entire video no good and immediately stopped watching because of it too.
This was a great episode. The decks were clever, the episode presentation was perfect.
Thanks Dan the Man

Lol I'm sure she'll find comfort in knowing she's not alone 😂
Even though Albert isn't playing, this playgroup failed to attack him first

great video! could we get the scarab god decklist?
That codie deck was sick
This is amazing narration.
Thank you for the great feedback! Hope you enjoy the rest of our content
Great game guys. Love seeing everyone at the table having fun.
Thanks JC. Appreciate it

You are absolutely right about that the split card cmc! I did not know that until now, thank you so much the the feedback and correction! 😃 - Pax

13:03 what am I missing here? Why didn't Elly tap 10 elves to deal 10/gain 10 in response to plague wind being on the stack?
Lathril had summoning sickness, no tap until her next turn
@@danielbretado7660 good looking out!

Am I wrong to think that in response to the board wipe elly could have activated lathril and drained everyone for 10 and gained 10?
Her commander had summoning sickness. She could not tap it to activate the ability
I'ma need that Codie deck list..
can we get the Elly Latrhil list?
I retired the deck but I remember the list so I will link it soon
great video as usual guys! \o/

Never really play with suspend card, so I was expecting it to hit the graveyard (or stay in exile) after being cast, not having another go on the card.

The card reads "Draw 2 cards. Exile Inspiring Refrain with 3 time counters on it" So it will continuously exile itself once it is successfully cast. Pretty cool effect but pricey.
Can we get the Codie list? I don't see it on the description's link.
List was just uploaded, here is the link archidekt.com/decks/2720856#Codie,_Vociferous_Codex
The lathril player saying "I got picked on", yeah ok....
10:20 Why does Lathril ability still resolves if the creature is exiled?
Even though the creature is no longer there the activated ability will still be on the stack. It would just resolve right after the kill spell would
was Elly's crying real or just a joke? 19:13
Just a joke lol. She was a great sport all night
Utter END!!!!!!!!!!
It’s a good card! I won’t listen to another podcast until Brad admits it!
Board wipe tribal is soooo boring.
Sorry bud. We have a ton of other videos that aren't board wipe heavy, if you care to check them out.
@@InResponseEDH it's all good. I just meant I don't enjoy that strategy personally, no knock on the vide or the channel which I enjoy.
