  • Welcome back to Site Inspections, your reliable source for professional building inspection content. Today's episode takes us back to a home we previously inspected during its waterproofing stage, but this time we're visiting at the 'lockup' stage - a crucial phase in the construction process when the property's external wall cladding and roofing are in place, securing the building from unauthorized access and weather.
    Our primary objective during this visit is to verify whether the builder has adequately addressed the previously noted waterproofing issues. We delve deep into a claim made by the building supervisor regarding a concrete slab allegedly installed to support a brick wall. In pursuit of the truth, we interview the homeowner, unearthing their take on this supposed installation.
    Join us in this exciting episode as we shed light on the importance of thorough inspections during key construction stages. Stay tuned as we unravel the reality of the construction process and the critical role inspections play in assuring quality and adherence to standards.

      Wonder if all these builders are of South East Asian origin ? Do they know our regulations ? Are they competent in applying them ? Do their subbies understand their responsibilities ? Maybe this is why you don't accept their very cheap quotes. After all, you get what you pay for !

    How is this level of incompetence so widespread. Like it's not like the client is getting a different paint shade and complaining, these issues will at the minimum result in tens of thousands of dollars worth of problems down the track, let alone the risk of a wall coming down on someone.
    Clearly these builders have no shame, no pride, no ethics. Like dodgy trades are one thing but the builder/site supervisor signed off on this crap, they shouldn't be building lego let alone peoples homes

    Wonder if this kind of corner-cutting and shoddy work has been ingrained in Australian construction industry for a long time, or is a result of laziness and trades having been spoilt by the good times over the last 10 or so years...? This country would never have been built by this kind of careless mentality...

  • @Richard-dd6sv
    @Richard-dd6sv ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Wish you could let us know who these building companies are. This is the problem when the project is managed on an ipad or the like and supervisors are given 20 or more sites to manage.
    It's hard enough to manage 10 or less unique projects and deal with the constant issues that every different build brings with it. Doesn't matter if they're pumping out 200 of the exact same design each year. Different things go wrong at any time and a supervisor needs the time to spend working with the tradesmen on site to deliver a solution.
    I hate the volume home industry. It's an absolute disgrace brought upon by builder greed and excessive immigration.
    Defamation be damned!
