02-19-2022 Muncy, PA - Massive Snow Squall Blasts Across Pennsylvania With Strong Winds & Heavy Snow

Snow squall warnings were issued by the National Weather Service for an intense band of heavy snow moving rapidly southeastward.
A long-lived band of heavy snow, strong winds and white-out conditions blasted across Pennsylvania during the day on Saturday. In Lycoming County, the communities of Muncy and Hughesville were no exception and were hit with strong, damaging winds and heavy snow. Conditions deteriorated rapidly as the snow squall moved from NW to SE with the passage of a frontal boundary. Within a few minutes, the squalls had passed and blue sky was dominating the skies in the Upper Susquehanna Valley.

I only wish the snow squall that I had to drive through was this short. Northeastern Wisconsin last February 2022 I had to drive 80 miles through one and I ended up oversleeping, third shift sucks. The way the storm lined up and the direction I had to drive, I ended up driving through a snow squall for about 40 miles. And then another 30 miles were nothing but wind driven snow that fell from the snow squall. The last 10 miles were on terrible roads following behind people that didn’t know how to drive in snow.
If you don’t have four-wheel-drive or decent tires and don’t know how to drive in snow and you get a warning for one of these on your phone, pull over at the next exit and wait it out.
