A review of this Strat that I was looking for: no blues, no tamed/too polite sounds, just full blown rock n roll to let you hear what this axe sounds like when driven to extremes - Big THX 🙏
Hey Chaps and chapettes, 1st thing to do if you get AVII is change the springs to "pure vintage" 5 springs( or sand them down till they bend and resonate easily) that should resonate with your playing like a little reverb box in your guitar..try not to go too light on string guages( 9.5s or 10s) lemon oil the rosewood board if dry and adjust the pickup heights while plugged in to an amp and set where you like the sound best. The Trem block was designed to "Float" a little but not too much. Lifting arm should give you 1 semi-tone lift in pitch. Decking the bridge-plate can make the Guitar a bit dull sounding..that Fender "Zingyness" comes from the block and springs and for 60s warmth plain enamel wound wire pickups. For more treble "Formvar" coating on pickup winding wires give a spikey sound. Non-trem Strats are closer to Telecasters in tone with a warmer all-round tone. Try them all out if possible and get the one that makes you happy.
It needs to be mentioned, since Fender isn't talking about it: there is a polyurethane undercoat below the nitro, just like all the other American Strats. So the nitro is basically a veneer. It will wear, but not down to the wood like a vintage guitar. There will be a plastic see-through coating over the wood etc.
@@paurelius885 Yes. It's true. Why it's not listed in the specs is anyone's guess. Even on Sweet Water, it says Nitro. But it's a Nitro coat over a poly sealer. Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing is up to the player, but it SHOULD at least be out there for potential buyers to consider. These are expensive guitars. We should know what we're buying, imo.
@@JustJared96 it’s true as far as I know now. On Alamo music TH-cam they talk about it in the telecaster vintage ii video. And a little bit in the strat vintage ii video as well.
Both guitars sound great, but I purchased the PRS Core Silver Sky over the Fender for the following reasons. 1. The back pickup was not ice picky like the Fender. 2. The frets are larger and it helps you to stay in your lane better. 3. The whammy bar you can just pull out vs rotating it in multiple times 4. Locking tuners. 5. The tone control works on the back pickup.
@@dansands6363 If you take a 9.5 radius and set it up perfectly, it will be superior for soloing to a 7.25 radius which is set up perfectly. There is a reason players like Clapton etc. made the switch. It's just a better radius. Having said that, you can get by with a 7.25. It can obviously be done.
I got to play one of these at Guitar Center yesterday, and it just sounded so good. But honestly, instead of paying $2,200 for it, I'm just going to buy the $200 Fender Pure Vintage 1961 pickups and install them in my Classic Vibe Strat and be about 90% of the way there.
Can't afford this model BUT would it be a good move or foolish move to put the Pure vintage 61 pickups into the Vintera II 60s strat? I don't know that the difference in pickups is worth the cost but I sure like the way it sounds.
Saludos amigos 🎸😄👍🏽
Custom shop guitars replicas of a production line guitar. I’ve a few production model Strats that are better than my CS ones so much so I sold them. The main thing you’re paying a premium for is relic jobs. Once my guitar tech has fret levelled and set them up they play amazing a good Strat is a good Strat but if you try a few production ones you will easily find some special Strats. Placebo effect yes there’s a world of difference between a Mex and a USA but not the same can be said about the custom shop it’s purely visual
Nope, these cost half as much as a Custom Shop Strat but have features that you could only get before on a CS guitar. For instance, the rosewood slab fretboard, the year-specific pickups, and the nitrocellulose finish. Now I just wish Fender would release a hardtail version of this '61 Strat.
Terrible Guitar Fender American Vintage II Fender player ii Series is a better guitar. played Fender American Vintage II for 1 week live with my band Terrible . Remember playing in a set up studio doesn't cut it live. Everything mic up sounds great in a Studio keep your money and try the Fender player ii Series . You will save a lot of money and have a better guitar .
It's a shame that Fender puts the Fender logo on the headstock of this guitar with a sticker and that for a guitar of more than two thousand euros or dollars!
This is easily the most stupid comment ever. This is a ‘Vintage reissue’, that means that the guitar was made exactly like it was made back in 1961. And that was with a ‘sticker’. If you don’t want that go buy yourself a modern Fender, these do not come with a ‘sticker’. My God…
7.25 radius killed this run of guitars. They need to stop putting out a neck that maybe 5-10% of people want unless they’re going to offer the guitar in a 9.5 radius at the same time.
Hopefully this is a sign that they’re coming back in stock!

Great sound. Very good tasteful player also.

Amazing guitar for sure!
wow, it's been historic for several years, maybe someone wants to buy a guitar that seems so rare in the world XD .
This is an awesome demo.
Mine needed a major setup. It sounds great, but for the price I wish it came setup better.
I played this guitar and its really nice. I am debating between this guitar and the PRS Silver Sky which is suppose to be similar to a 1963 Strat.
Which one did you end up getting and are you happy with your purchase?
I bought a core PRS silver sky. And I'm very happy with it.
Both guitars sound great, but I purchased the PRS Core Silver Sky over the Fender for the following reasons.

You made the right choice, I have this guitar. My 1996 MIJ 62 reissue satisfies me more.
Would this guitar complement bongos? My mate's a Hari Kirshna and we usually drink on weekends. This will be my first instrument.
That's how you play the guitar on the TH-cam!
AO 60s 9.5 neck, AVii 7.25 neck, which do u prefer?
7.25 all day on a Fender.
7.25 Telecaster, 9.5 Stratocaster.
If it’s setup properly, the 7.25” radius is a non issue. At that points it’s all matter of preference.
7.25, somehow the movement of both hands feels more "right" or natural. Could be because of the relationship to the neck width or whatever :)

I attempted this type of thing recently in a squire, now I have some decent pickups in a guitar with a poor quality neck/parts
Sweet Strat! What fuzz are you using?
Looks like Beetronics Vezzpa
He mentions it within the first minute...

Those Vintera pups sound great. Head-to-head, I sometimes I think they sound better than the American ones. (Having heard some A/B tests on TH-cam)
First comment, and first to say I can't wait to get my hands on one of these.
Post a pic when you get it to prove you bought one. Also first comment means "jack" and "squat."

Can anyone tell me is this is a good guitar for beginners guitar?
Most definitely.
What’s not to like fiesta red nitro….revoiced 61 pickupsthink garymoore …
The older Classic 60's & new Vintera II just KILL this over-priced axe!
Now we're paying near Custom Shop $ for American production strats.
No we're not, go look at the price of a new CS strat.
I just grabbed one. Its worth the extra money. Its close to the quality of any custom shop ive had for half the price. Plus, they gain value.

Get a job
When I see someone moving their head so unnaturally like this and which is so uncool, I shut the video off immediately.
Good to know. Many of us were wondering how you feel about people moving their heads.
Why do they use this guy? Hes not very good.
Strats don't do well with overdrive unless you're Hendrix or SRV.
You know that's not true.
or anyone else that’s ever played a strat
This guitar sounds great with overdrive.

A fuzz-box is the answer.
I just bought a lefty and flipped it righty and put a Tusq right handed nut on it. True vintage Hendrix vibes.
