Hi Reid, Thanks for the video. I'm just starting out with Ableton Live, and planning to create my own music and sound fx for a short film. What audio interface would you recommend? Thanks in advance
I am a long time devoted user of the Sony MDR7506. (over 15 yrs) Absolutely loved them! I even slept through an attack on our base in Afghanistan one night with them on. I bought replacement ear cushions for them because they started flaking so bad. But last year I got a pair of Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro 80ohm and found that they sounded great and were very much more comfortable. I still have my Sony's and will continue to use them on occasion, but the detail and comfort of the DT770s have won me over. Thanks for the review! I still have my eye on a pair of Sennheiser HD650s (open back) to acquire one day for mixing.
@@ReidStefanMusic I'll be waiting for this...I need new headphones for a new environment with too much reverb and no treatment yet. I am having trouble deciding between the 1770 and the older versions...both impedence and open vs closed for a end result in a quality mix and master that translate overall
@@InaktiverUser yea bro I ended up getting them...low end was amazingly easy to mix with high accuracy. Overall happy I went with them...might need upgrade my preamp tho as focusrite 2i2 struggles it seems...I have to turn the headphone knob extremely high to get the full 250ohm drive from them
@@JRegoMusic yeah but if u dont want to change your completely interface u can connect a headphone amp between interface and headphones that would give you the same result much cheaper bro :)
I use the Sennheiser HD 560 Ovation II for almost 30 years now. They are the most comfortable headphones I ever had on my head, they sound clear, clean and simply delicious and all I had to replace in all the years was the cable. The velvety earcushions are not as puffy as they were in the beginning, but definitely are still in good shape and I wouldn't need to retouch them in a photo ;) They do bleed into a mic that is close and I cannot use them for vocal recording, but they are the greatest producing-, mixing- and mastering-headphones ever. Cheers.
Personally I've been using the Sony MDR7506 almost every day for like 5 years and I'm really happy with them. However I agree that sound is less "flashy" than what you would get out of other headphones. That being said, I think it also makes it easier to find possible mistakes in your mix, since they are kind of analytical in that sense
I can't understand how so many people recommend them for mixing, the tuning is so bright like needles into your eardrum, after 2 years of trying different eq settings i just buy other headphone. if you like warm, full sounding, non fatiguing headphones don't buy these.
@@akazicprod It's amazing how we can all feel so differently about them. Personally, I really don't like the sound of the audio technica's. I lose a lot of the sense of space, and end up making it sound good in there, then lo-mid mud everywhere else! I get better mixing results if I get them sounding good in my DT880's, better than I get using HD650's in-fact, which I think are definitely a lot fatter and enjoyable for listening to music on.
@@joelisonkeys Exactly, at the end of the day is just preference, the soundstage on the dt880 were great but the tuning was too bright for my taste. I'm curious about the HD 650 since these are the ones that i want to buy now that i've sold the 880.
I currently have the Beyerdynamics DT 990 pro's and was wondering if it will make a difference is I upgrade to the Pro X version? I know these models aren't in the video, but I need honest opinions on it.
I am commeting this for those who confuse between dt770 or m50x . I own dt770s 80ohms and i got to test m50x recently. Dt770s are comfortable but for me m50x have comfort too. I would just give a slight adv to 770s for comfort. Dt770s are hard to carry and m50x are good to carry. Dt770s have great mids and lows while the highs are very overpowering. M50x are very bass agressive. I produce edm in genral. So i would recommend m50 a bit over dt770s but you go into hiphop or other genres i think 770s have a great space and would serve you better. I am no grammy winner and this is my prrsonal opinion after 1 yr of usage
now I'm looking for my first headphone for help me work when mixing and audio editing. I'm interested to 3 headphones right now, ATH M50X, Rode NTH-100, and Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro. What do you think about these headphones? What should I go?
@@ReidStefanMusic they do manufacture the M50x, but they supposedly have a more hyped high end than the M50s used to (which are no longer being produced)
any one of these headphones is the same, yall just have to get used to them, and know how they translate, its the same discussion with monitors, beyerdynamics dt770s or dt990s, are pretty good too, but any one of these are a good purchase
Yo, off topic! Do you sell any shirts anywhere? I'm going to a puppet museum in a couple weeks and I gotta represent xD You do amazing work. I've played guitar for over 20 years and have tried producing my stuff off and on for many years but sucked at it and gave up each time. Thanks to you i just made my first song and have gotten great feedback on it so thank you!
I have the audio tecnica the sound quality it’s very amazing , but it’s not comfortable for me to wear for more than 1 hour. Do you have the same problem ? I will suggest to try superlux hd 681 evo , cost only 40 euros. They are very similar to audio technica but more comfortable. Last but not least. What do you think about sienna ? And the symbiosis sienna + headphone . If you use sienna , only for correction . Superlux it’s better with sienna than audio technica and sienna
Sorry for the beginner comment but do these all Have the port to go to an interface ? Cuz like the little hole you know it’s not the same as a normal cord so yea would be glad to know
Hello, I am using Akg headphones while i am recording and mixing after that when i listen from my computer or phone the sound is not the same with headphones.Like not only eq, compressor vs. Every little detail like panning, or just the level of sound is a mess and different from headphones. How can i fix this ? Please help.Thank you 🙏
You forgot the worlds best headphones under 200 dollars period the beyerdynamic dt 770 pro 80 ohm it sounds way better then the ATH M50X has incredible soundstage and clarity and crispness that will blow your mind
The next headphones review in this series will compare all the popular Beyerdynamic DT headphone models together ✅
That will be interesting! I had to read up on the different ohm options when I bought a pair of them.

No DT770? These have perfectly linear low end starting from 20Hz, which you can't get on low end studio monitors. They are quite affordable too!
I’m comparing all the Beyerdynamic DT headphone models in my next headphone review video 🔥

Regardless of how people feel about sound, those Sony MDRs are tanks for real.
If you don't need to track audio, or already have some closed backs, DT880's are great
