The face characters still walk around at Disneyland. It really is to dangerous for the furry characters to walk on their own - there have been incidents of kids assaulting the character "playfully", of the character almost getting overwhelmed by crowds and the head almost falling off, and issues with the actor in distress and with no one around to assist them. He's both. As the video states, the age varies depending on who his guests are. Typically, if it's children, he communicates at their level. If its an adult, he communicates at their level. So, he can be whatever age or job position you want him to be. Mickey is, beyond the symbol of Disney, an everyman--err, mouse. This means, he's done pretty much every job type there is out there, yet still retains a childlike optimism that actual children can still relate to - since he doesn't talk down to/condescendingly patronize them for being children - and that anyone with an inner child retains past adulthood.

This version of Mickey Mouse somehow seems more clownish. I think I prefer today’s version. He somehow seems more fleshed out as a character. Minnie as well.
I remember when the characters just walked around. When people saw them They ran over and crowded pushing to get a picture. You were lucky to get one. I like the way is it now.
Because they mix things up due to both Plane Crazy and Steamboat Willie being "First" in two different ways for the Mickey Mouse character. Plane Crazy was Mickey's first cartoon, but if I recall correctly, Steamboat Willie was the first Mickey cartoon to have synchronized sound. So they're both first in a way. Plus, Steamboat Willie is more popular/well known than Plane Crazy for a couple of reasons. Notice how in some Disney involved films, Steamboat Willie is referenced either at the start or end of the movie? I believe "Wreck-It-Ralph" is one of the several movies that referenced Steamboat Willie, but not Plane Crazy.
+The guy who likes Lego's :p if I'm right enough plane crazy wasn't finished so it kind of was, but steamboat Willie was the first completed Disney short film and the first Disney film with sound
That guy who likes Legos :P it’s true, that they made the film and completed it in 1927, but plane crazy wasn’t released until 1929, Bc they wanted to remake it with sound. Ala Howard Hughes movie, Wings.
Both "Plane Crazy" (the one where Mickey builds a DIY plane, musses his hair to resemble Charles Lindenberg & pulls a reluctant Minnie into the...ahem...cockpit with him so he could try to kiss her whilst up in the air, only for Minnie to smack him across the face before ejecting the plane whilst using her bloomers as a parachute, as the plane starts coming undone with Mickey still inside it, with it ultimately crashing & Mickey falling out, upset that he lost his plane & his girl) and "Gallopin' Gaucho" (you know, the one with Mickey SMOKING & DRINKING [despite Disney claiming him as a "non-drinker" since his 1940's redesign], showing up on a wasted ostrich to a cantina set in what's supposed to likely be Argentina or Mexico so he could battle Pete [by using a GUN initially to boot, before the giant feline knocks it out of his grasp] for flapper dancer Minnie's affections) were STILL made first. They were both silent picture shorts initially. However, "Steamboat Willie" in itself IS a landmark for Mickey & the Walt Disney Company overall, because it was the ORIGINAL cartoon "talkie" (the first animated ANYTHING with sound in it), after Walt had glimpsed a peek at _The Jazz Singer_ (which was the FIRST live-action film with sound, effectively replicating the New Orleans Jazzband feel) and he felt that he could, perhaps, repeat the feat by mixing sound into his cartoons. It was a gamble, because no cartoon before "Steamboat Willie" had ever used sound in it (meaning, the audience could only watch the action play out on-screen, but would've had to have imagined what the film would've sounded like in their heads) & Walt was banking on it being a success. Luckily, it was. So, with the release of "Steamboat Willie" to prove that cartoons with sound can be successful, both of the 2 earlier silent shorts were then remade with sound freshly added. It's due to "Steamboat Willie" being the first animated cartoon with sound that has allowed it to become Mickey's (and also Minnie's, as well as their nemesis Pete's) OFFICIAL debut as characters, despite the fact that the original silent versions of "Plane Crazy" & "Gallopin' Gaucho" were made prior to "Steamboat Willie", nonetheless.
I'm giving this less than a year, or one more week from this post, by the time the Disney Company finds this video and takes it down. You shouldn't be posting videos like this, it's very disrespectful.
No, no it's not. It's insulting to our work for this to be reveled to the public, and actually makes our jobs harder when people don't respect the characters as real.
@@thephantomcastmember Mickey, Minnie, Wendy and the others are real. Why else do you think I wanna meet 'em? (And this video was before Mickey COULD talk via Living Character Initiative.)
Don't spread such a wildfire in the media of the comment section. If you really want to get your point across, talk in another area where it can be resolved. Besides, it's been a year now and it hasn't even been taken down by your company.
Probably due to the problem of it being dragged against the ground or being stepped on. Could also just be an alternative design for Mickey that does not include a tail. Probably both, I don't know.
@@CutieRingoJoy Liar. When you're a child, you believe these characters are real. Everyone does. But, then, as you grow older & understand the "magic" behind it all, you respect the performers & what they do, yet your innocence of believing in the "realness" of the characters only comes out when in their presence at the theme parks out of dignity for the characters as well as their performers, on top of not trying to ruin the immersion for actual children who still believe that the characters are real.

This version of Mickey Mouse somehow seems more clownish. I think I prefer today’s version. He somehow seems more fleshed out as a character. Minnie as well.
Agreed

you know chadtronics should see this
I remember when the characters just walked around. When people saw them They ran over and crowded pushing to get a picture. You were lucky to get one. I like the way is it now.
I disagree. It’s too structured now, with really no chance of candid or unplanned fun.
4:09 he just gut punched the mouse XD
I once punched Chuck E. Cheese in the nose when I was 3.
It was during a birthday party for a classmate from the nursery school that I went to.
And please dont soil the Mickey suit with smelly gas please hold it until you can remove the suit so the suit will not be smelly for the next person
I Wish Mickey Mouse Could Come To My House And Look At My Stuff

Nyanpire The Cat exactly
I found it while watching a mash vid
God dammit MICKEY FIRST APPEARED IN 'PLANE CRAZY' WHY DOES EVERYONE GET THAT WRONG
That guy who likes Legos :P yes but Steamboat premiered before Plane Crazy.
I wonder if they charge up on stimulants to stay energetic
I'm giving this less than a year, or one more week from this post, by the time the Disney Company finds this video and takes it down. You shouldn't be posting videos like this, it's very disrespectful.
But you gotta admit this is still interesting behind-the-scenes stuff to watch.
I'm a huge Disney fan and i know it's always a person in the costume. i still get super happy and excited seeing the characters though.
Im ready to play mickey
They had the right idea with the hands back then. The four fingered hands nowadays are too big and a bit clumsy.
Alt title: the most stressful job in the world.
I like that if you break something their only advice is to just fucking run.
OK this tells me alot but tell me this how in the living FUCK do they see in those hot ass costume
Kidsocool 28 maybe through the mouth.
Kidsocool 28 I think it's through the eyes, like more of a see through material
Kidsocool 28 I think it's through the eyes, like more of a see through material
i believe through the eyes in the past. the eyes are plastic now though and they see through their mouths now.
In my Mickey & Minnie Mouse mascot costumes that I purchased on eBay back in October 2021, there are eye holes where I can see out.
Why doesn't Mickey have a tail on his costume
Probably due to the problem of it being dragged against the ground or being stepped on. Could also just be an alternative design for Mickey that does not include a tail. Probably both, I don't know.
He has a magical ability of shrinking it down, just like how Stitch does with his arms and antennae. ;)
Angie2343 or he could just hide it in his pants :/
Hi I was wondering did the way the Mickey Mouse characters look change in 2016 at Disney world?
Mickey’s look changed a lot through the years. I highly recommend watching Disney Dan’s Mickey Mouse costume evolution video.
Well, for Mickey and Minnie, yes. For Donald, Daisy, Goofy, and Pluto, not so much.
I haven't even watched this yet and I'm a kid and I love Mickey Mouse should I watch this? To bad I'm watching it.
Layla's Vlogs! Dont wach it childhood memory get ruined

That booty smack at 1:45 would not fly today.
... he has no tail.
there's a person in the costume my child hood is ruined ._.
Mr. Doge my childhood wasn't ruined because I've known that for my whole life
@@CutieRingoJoy Liar.
Lol what if someone used this as like a five nights at treasure island vhs tape. Plus that Mickey Mouse character looks like the stuffed Mickey Mouse from the caverns section of five nights at treasure island.
