He’s obviously dumb as bricks, but what’s even funnier is street signs are literally posted in Thai and English in Bangkok. Almost everyone in the service industry speaks English, and English is the second most spoken language behind Thai. Again… this guy is dumb as bricks.
Definitely good to prepare yourself going to any country.
Traveling broadens the mind. It does help to make a little research about the place you will be traveling to so you will have an idea of what to expect. The culture, the currency, the food, the religion, the language, the people, and the climate. US and Thailand are literally in 2 different continents and if you haven't been to Asia ever before and did zero research I am not at all surprised that you had a shock.
Can't agree more, this happened on the first few days, now I'm good. I don't like big transitions like this it makes me feel lost for a while... But literally Eastern Asia is amazing so far!

@@alwingc ur fortunate u adjusted after a few days. Some people it takes months or a few years. Others, don't adjust and return where they came from. Having a flexible, explorative, mindset goes a long way when traveling. It's how u grow.

Of course it's different and English isn't spoken that much, it's Thailand, the land of the Thais, of course don't expect them to speak much English.
Actually their southern neighbour does speak a bit more English, it's the land I'm from, but there will still be cultural shock, that's the fun of travel, why want something similar to your own? Embrace the shock, just like we embrace you when we're at your place.

I lived in Thailand for 3 years 2010-12. I hated BKK. Always spent the minimum time there. I prefer Pattaya. There are 70 golf courses within 70 km.
It's 35C+ & very humid in most of Thailand all year. I liked Chiang Mai & had a GF in Issan. Laotians & Cambodians speak much more English than Thais.
