I agree with your assessment about learning how to read. I’ve used MFW K and 1st (actually through 3rd) with my kids and they never even realized they were learning to read. With my first child, I didn’t even realize it. At one point I wondered if it was enough and if he was learning anything and then all of a sudden one day I have a reading child. I never doubted it after that, and the same has been true for all my other children. I have looked through a couple other K and 1st curricula to see how they pace reading and it just seems so overwhelming. I can see why there would be tears. The thing is MFW is at the same ending point by the completion of 1st grade as the other programs I looked at. However, it seems those others want them reading beyond CVC words in K and then they spend 1st grade solidifying and reviewing (and some even add in spelling and grammar, which is unnecessary at that point…I will die on that hill.) When I looked at other curricula, I just knew there would be fighting and frustration. I have not had either with MFW. And I’m sure there are other “gentle” (which I think just means age appropriate) reading curricula and programs out there that work wonderfully, but my experience has only been with MFW. I suspect Simply Charlotte Mason’s phonics program is similar, for example.
@@lindsayp0523 By that point I was much more confident in what I was doing and started piecing things together and picking curricula by subject rather than just going with a pre-assembled set. There’s nothing wrong with boxed curricula; I just wanted to try different things based upon my kids’ individual strengths, personalities, learning styles, etc. By third, I feel like I’ve got a grasp on that for each kid. That said, I still pulled in a lot of MFW offerings in my selections.
On the badges, I found a file on a Facebook page. You send the file to be printed and bonded together for a book. It also has the lines for them to practice writing the letter of the week. I am so excited to use it.
Thank you so much for this detailed video! I will be starting my first born on this curriculum next month and was feeling completely overwhelmed. I was homeschooled, but it's completely different being on the parent side of things! 😂 she is only 3.5 but highly motivated and very intelligent, so she needs somethingbeyons the preschool program. We're going to take it slow this year and let her work at her own pace, and then do it again until she's ready for the next level. 😄
If you have any questions at all you can find me on Instagram and message me! instagram.com/libertyschoolhouse?igsh=OGQ5ZDc2ODk2ZA%3D%3D& I think it’s great you will let her work at her own pace!! Such a special journey you are about to start!
Thank you for this! I’ve been considering this program for my daughter for next year and being able to see a flip through like this pretty much solidified the decision for me to get it.
Great video! Thank you! Can you tell me where to find the two other items with the insects that you pulled out of pocket folder. I have the badge but what are the 2 other items?
Hi! Thank you!! They are flashcards…one is the large flashcards fro MFW and the other is a printable flashcards that I found on the kinder MFW Facebook group.
Could you send me a link with the print out of the round letters/pictures from my fathers world from the menu? I love your menu idea, and I think I might try that for my six year old.
I found it on the Facebook group called My Father’s World - kindergarten. I can’t link it but the file is called aaApplechart. Hope that helps! The menu has been working great! I think you’ll love it!!
How does this compare with TGATB? That’s what I used last year as my first time homeschooling for my preschooler and 1st grader. I’ve Been considering this one but it’s a bit more pricey. Do you have any comments on that or have you only used this curriculum? I’m just overwhelmed!
I really don't know how it would compare to TGATB? I've only used a few of their things. My main curriculum for kinder is My Father's World. Sorry I couldn't be more help!
They are printables from TreehouseSchoolhouse. Here is my link…treehouseschoolhouse.com/libertyschoolhouse It’ll give you 10% off. And here is the link for the product…treehouseschoolhouse.com/products/morning-time-bundle
I usually piece things together but this year I’m using My Father’s World. I just posted an unboxing video of the curriculum but will be making an in depth first grade video too. I can also mention what I’ve used before if that would be helpful.
MFW K and 1st are designed to go together. 1st picks up right where K ends. I’ve used both with my first three and am starting K with my last one this year. All so far have turned out to be really strong readers with something just clicking at some point in 1st and then just taking off (but K will have them reading CVC words by the end).
I purchased it on Amazon. Hi there! I think it depends on how eager they are to start learning. I will be using this for my almost 5 year old daughter this coming school year. She turns 5 in August. You can always take it at a way slower pace too!
I’ve been really overwhelmed by all of the curriculums, but I think your review of MFW has sold me. Thank you for this.
Aww! I’m so glad! It really is a great curriculum. So sweet and always pointing to the Lord!

Very well said! I agree 100%!
What did you use after 3rd grade if you didn’t stick with MFW?

Best review, so comprehensive. Thank you. I was confused about the yellow page portion of the manual, you made it very understandable.

How long does it usually take to complete the days assignments?
I’d say 30-45 minutes. Not long at all!

Hi! Is there a start date for this curriculum? Did you start at the beginning of August?
