- Buying pre-built smart receivers can be expensive, sometimes running $500 or more. But with an hour of your time and a little bit of effort, you can build your own smart receivers and save a bunch of money in the process. This build should run $135 when broken out by box. If you don't have some of the items on hand already such as drill bits or bulk wire, it may be a little more of an investment up front, but will allow you to then build multiple boxes cheaply going forward.

You will need the Hewlett Packard (HP) DPS-1200FB power supply in particular. Can generally find these on Ebay for about $22
