    To start this project you will need,
    A Cow/horn.
    A Course File.
    A Drill and a dremel.
    Drill bits and drum and sanding flap wheels.
    Sand paper (220-1200 grit)
    Metal Polish (autosol)
    Car wax.
    Para cord or braided leather.

    Nice engraving.
    I understand the work that goes into these, as I make coyote howler calls from cattle and bison horns.

      If have ever played a brass instrument in band or something, its really similar. a smaller hole is blown like a trumpet while a larger hole *should* be like a trombone I say should because I've never used one with a larger hole. so someone more experienced would be better. if you are wondering what in the world i mean by like a trumpet, you press your lips together pretty hard, with the hole forming a seal around your lips, then blow into it, it will feel like a hum almost, and your lips will get tingly, takes some practice. trombone is like that but looser

    Sir, can a long horn's horn be made into a bugle? If not, why?

    • @rustydogoutdoors8014
      @rustydogoutdoors8014  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes you can use any horn, tho we only use them to amplify the noise we make not as a bugle.

      @@simplelifeandjourney51923 go as big as the horn will allow without making it brittle.

    Do you wear a mask? I wasn't wearing one when I started but I noticed (after a while) that it was quite a lot of dusk in the air so now I'm wearing a mask. I have a little bit of a dry cough now (no corona) and I was wondering if that bit of exposure to the dust was bad or if its just unrelated.

      Since you never got a reply;
      Yes when it comes to working with bone, horn, and some exotic hardwoods you want to be wearing at the very least a respirator and work in a ventilated area.
      Whilst I don't know specific longterm effects that are caused by breathing in bone or horn, I know that they can cause damage to your lungs over time if you're constantly breathing in such particulates. For some exotic hardwoods however, it can straight up be toxic to inhale the dust stirred up, so always wear the appropriate protection when working with such things.
      At the very least, these items can be irritants when inhaling, so take appropriate precaution.
      Stay safe~

      I hate to see horns sanded to death on some horns I have seen.
