IIDX 1st Style (GQ863)

This is the international version of the first IIDX ever released. A lot of the sound effects are identical to Beatmania Complete Mix 1 and it has an extremely similar vibe to the older 5key games. There are only a few songs and the credits video shows people playing 5key on extremely old Beatmania cabinets in Japan. Unlike the Japanese release, this one has no restriction as to where it should be played. No additional translation has been done from the Japanese release. 4-key mode is available in single and double play styles, and the game must be put into battle mode like 5key in order to play both players simultaneously.

I guess they went to expand their market to the least common denominator. Hip hop is underground these days so it's a hard sell.

I think the developer comments mentioned 3rd MIX, Complete MIX 1, and 1st Style were simultaneously developed so they all have a similar look and feel.
The credits show some footage of the winner of Konami's beatmania Battle of the Climax 1998 tournament, where it looks like they had some promo signs for IIDX before it was released.

I wish Infinitas included more of these vintage songs. I know the quality of both music and note charts don't quite hold up but they're historic.
