Good info, but you go way too fast even at your slowest pace. Beginners can't keep up because we're not used to a numbering system, and to try to follow what your fingers do is too hard to do that quickly. The other thing that's really frustrating is that this stupid thing can't keep from squeaking even though the proper holes are all covered. That's the one reason I didn't stick with this instrument after being forced play it in 1st grade. Dumb thing can't hold a note. Never mind.
@justrosy5 If a recorder can't produce a tone clearly, obviously either the recorder or the player is to blame. It fortunate that we live in an age when recorders are so rarely faulty.
I'm a beginner. My late husband had COPD and the recorder was recommended to help him breathe better. As a memorial to him and to help my own breathing, I decided to start playing the recorder. Your videos are comprehensive and entertaining. Thank you
So glad I found your early TH-cam videos on how to play a recorder. You are such an inspiration and so very talented in all the recorders you have learned to play through your young years. I am 69 years old and just purchased a Yamaha Soprano Recorder Baroque (Ecodear) YRS-402B, after watching your video, choosing a PLASTIC recorder! What a challenge it has been but enjoyable at the same time. I plan to use the soprano recorder for worshiping at home. A lot of your videos are very informative and way over my head but I thank you for encouraging those of us who have never played before. GOD bless you Sarah and your family.
Like many of us, I too learned the basics of the recorder when I was a kid and then let it go for no particular reason. Now, just for fun in my late 30's learning piano, recorder and drum. Thank you so much, Sarah. your explanations are perfect and your vibe just makes the whole practice lots of fun!
I admit I'm fascinated by things like recorders and ocarinas that can play chromatically with NO moving parts. I love simple technology that can do surprisingly complex things.
a guitar is what you describe as well.... yet not quite is it? Interesting. I get it, but i wonder how you could describe it better. i truly don't know.
You put what I like into such articulate words. Even though I'm a low brass player, I bought me a tenor recorder cuz that's just so cool how simple it is. Unfortunately, the physics of brass don't allow for such simplicity (except the trombone, which I own) but that's ok. 3/4 valves is pretty simple
That's one reason why I didn't like the clarinet. Because its fancy keys instead of the simplicity of the recorder. Just practice a bit more, and You will never need any keys for the sharps/flats like on other woodwinds...
I used to play the flute about 10 years ago and haven't really kept up with music since. It's something I've been wanting to do for a while but couldn't justify spending all the money on one right off the bat. Then I found your channel and even though the recorder is not the same as the flute it's the perfect instrument to get back into music from the foundations up. Thank you so much for all these videos! This one and the one with method book recommendations were invaluable to me, and I can't wait to try some of these more advanced videos!
Low E on the Alto!!!! I didn't know I could do that. This was amazingly eye opening. Seems like a small thing, but truly- that extra low note is pure magic!! Thank you.
Well yeah especially if you are trying to play something and you just need that one note to complete it so you don't have to fake it with a higher note. I was just playing on almost one octave for so many years before I discovered this channel
I’m studying for a alto song that my music teacher asked me to do, and I barely know the notes, but watching this video gave me the “note knowledge” I need, thank you so much!!!
Sarah, for Soprano Recorder, in 1st Octave (03:30), the F you mentioned in your video is: 01234 67, but there is some book who saids 01234. Are they both correct??
I just wish that when I was a kid someone had told me that the recorder was a real instrument with lots of wonderful music, and not just a stepping stone to 'proper' ones such as the clarinet or even the violin - I would never have stopped playing the tenor recorder. But I am feeling slightly freaked out by some of those high notes on the descant!
After a couple of days of pure high note practice I managed to get through all the soprano and Alto notes on my plastic recorders! Thank you so much for this video! I find myself referencing it quite frequently
You are a great flute recorder teacher, Miss Jeffrey. Back when I was a kid, I learn how to play the flute recorder with my music teacher, Miss Pantoja in Elementary School. Now in today's world, I am learning how to play the flute and still covering it on TH-cam. Thanks, Miss Jeffrey, also known as #teamrecorder. Sincerely yours, - Osagie Guobadia.
Hello Sarah, thank you for your inspiring videos ! I’m starting the alto recorder after 30 years of saxophone alto. I wanted to play ancien music . I’ve followed musicology studies in university so it makes me feel like playing Bach and the other ones ! For the moment I just have a Yamaha which is not totally in tune but I save money to buy a good one ! I’m following the Jean-Claude veilhan method who wrote specifically for Baroque’s music ! I wish you a lot of joy and luck in your job and thanks again for the videos ! Aurélie
Idk, Bach with sax is pretty awesome too. Some great recordings have been shared to YT last few years. For why modern instruments adapt so well for Bach and the rationale behind that, go back to "a question of instrument" by monsaigngeon. I wish I had a musicologist's background to understand the nuances of those types of interviews. But I am all for Bach on recorder too of course!
That is the HIGHEST I have ever gotten on my soprano. I'm going to refer to these as my "Corona Notes". They didn't sound particularly musical - but I was able to hit every one. Great lesson. Thank you.
Dear Sarah, tahnk you for all you enthousiastic video's. A week ago my granddaughter of six years old came over from Austria to us in Holland and she brought her recorder with her. She had had her first lessons. We both played 'Jingle bells', she with her recorder and I on keyboard. The last time I played the recorder I was just about 7-8 years old. Now I am 71! Guess what, I played again, my granddaughter and I, both with a recorder. From now on I start again with playing 'de blokfluit!. Ia am a restarter. And I love your visedo's on TH-cam. Thank you very much!!
I used to play as a kid, but haven't picked it up in years. This video inspired me to order a recorder, and it came in the post yesterday! Looking forward to getting back into it. (this video will also prove very useful in relearning the notes as it does *not* seem like I have retained my ability over the years haha)
Wow, this is great. My last lesson was over 30 years ago and we had never gone past E, in the second octave. And I had learned to play this even earlier more than 35 years ago. Then while just playing as a hobby at rare times, I had discovered by myself that I could go down to A. Now after all those years, I watched Csardas by Victor Borge and Michala Petri and saw she went beyond that. I didn't think this was possible! So I looked around and saw that it was indeed possible! Yay, and thank you! :)
Thanks for the video! I recently found my old recorder from elementary school, polished it up, and am learning to play. This video was very helpful and now I can play the chromatic scale over a wide range.
Hi Sarah, this video is an excellent starting point for any new learner. Thanks for your generosity! You are an international teacher with international students across the globe.
Hi Sara! I found 38 sounds and 3 registers in each of the 5 flute recorders I have in my own, all of them are Yamaha and in each flute I use as well different clefs. For example: In the Tenor recorder I play it with the brand new D clef. With the Alto Recorder I use the brand new A clef. With the Soprano recorder I play the brand new E clef. With the Sopranino Recorder I play with the brand new B clef. And with the smallest Recorder I play with the brand new E clef. I'm very happy to share my discoveries with you. I plato the G clef for the first scale of the Tenor recorder and with the alto recorder also I can play the first scale with the new D clef, and the soprano recorder I can use the A clef in order to play the first scale. Greetings from Mexico City!
'Actually' I come from the ocarina and just wanted to expand my repertoire... No clue why I bought an alto recorder after getting hooked here! Sarah - you did a brilliant job with your channel! Thank you so much - and Greetings from Germany!
this video caused me to take my old recorder out of my closet and try some of this, you made me like the recorder more!, also, I got the recorder in my 3rd grade, because our schools (still has) had a music lesson as part of the education in 3rd grade, we all learned to play the recorder, and I always thought it is not a chromatic instrument. thank you for the video!
I am not to bad on D whistle and have been tempted to learn a few toons on the recorder. What puts me is that it is all the on/ offs , the half notes, thumb positions and positions to remember. Very clear instruction video.
People like you, who do things like this, and make a channel like this and give this kind of instruction are really good for TH-cam, good for the internet, and good for the WORLD..... thank you
this is actually extremely helpful. As someone who can't read music, wants to learn a few things on the recorder and already plays guitar. I can easily find a song played on flute/recorder (such as the solo in nights of white satin which is what I wanna learn) and transcribe it note for note from watching someone play it on the guitar, writing down the notes; note for note, and finding how to do each one here. If not for you I'd be screwed. I cannot read music, don't have the patience to learn (or motivation more accurately), and there are NO tutorials or anyhting like that on the flute solo part of that song. There is also no note for note transcription that I could understand (understandably). It's gonna be a pain in the ass to do but you even took a lot of that pain away to your own ass by actually linking each note in the description. You're an ass saver! THANKS! SERIOUSLY!
Thank you so so much for posting this! A man gave me a handmade kind of recorder made from cane wood/plant, but it only had the six main holes, not the 0 and the 7 ones. I easily picked up melodies (I am a guitarist and pianist so I am familiar on playing music) but I couldn't figure out how to play a chromatic scale and fit in any note I wanted, so I thought it had limited notes, and not the whole 12 notes of an octave. I still cannot play some notes because I don't have the 0 and 7 holes so I obviously can't do the thumb or pinky thing. But THANK YOU because I didn't know that covering the half of a hole changes the pitch of a note, this is extremely helpful and now I can play a bunch of new melodies!
After almost 40 years of playing keys a picked up a re.corder to be able to use it as a breathcontroller for my amateur studio and now I am learning a new instrument from the beginning :) Fun fact. My re.corder has transpose and I could re-configure the notes, but want to learn the basics first.
I came here just to see how you work with semitones. Glad now I know about the low B on my soprano, thank you! With this trick I can actually play one of my loved music sheets :)
Practice alone will not yield these results without the requisite knowledge; coaching makes this much more straightforward than just trying to brute force it.
I've been keeping a cheap recorder disassembled in my little leg back i take everywhere "just in case" (i'm a music major but the only time this has helped was assembling it and getting a can unstuck from a vending machine admittedly, but it's fun to tell people "just in case" and create confusion). I recently decided I'm going to start pulling it out, and going "Wanna see how fast I can play 'Hot Cross Buns'?" and then actually playing the intro to "Welcome to the Black Parade" by My Chemical Romance. Long story short, I think hearing how the higher octave is supposed to sound in this video is helping me read this fingering chart, since I have to start at written G5 since the recorder I have doesn't go below wrriten C4 and there's a B3 in the line. Thanks!
You just made me order an alto recorder!😂 I was 8 years old when last I played a recorder. Really wish I had a music teacher such as yourself when I was a kid. Delightfully informative and user friendly videos ❤
Oh wow. I never knew my beloved recorders could hit THIS many notes! This video is amazing. I've been pausing it constantly to practice each note and make sure I actually hear MYSELF right and not Sarah's amazing playing. My soprano recorder does not have those double holes anywhere, but it's an Original Herwiga Chor, so POSSIBLY from the late 30s or 40s? If my google search (which gave ONLY German results) is good enough. I really like this recorder, but I canNOT reach that last high octave no matter what! I'll try again sometime my landlords are not home, so they don't....idk, evict me or something because of the awful noise XD I'm out of practice with my alto recorder, so my hands hurt now, and I really struggle with getting a clean sound on the lower notes! Any tips or tricks for how to stretch my fingers to not hurt them, and get a cleaner sound?
There is a video about jow to get cleaner on the recorder from sarahs channel . but.. That video is only about the soprano. So... you might to search on youtube.
Hi Sarah! I saw this video again and I did some important changes and necessary corrections in my first and second comments based in my next statements: well, when I play the Tenor recorder I use the G clef to play the first register and the brand new D clef to play all the 38 notes. So now when I play the Alto recorder I use the brand new D clef to play the first register and the A clef to play all the 38 notes in the Alto recorder. In the Soprano recorder I use the A clef to play the first register and the brand new E clef to play all the 38 notes. Thank you for your nice videos. They helped me a lot to work in this clef project. Greetings from Tijuana Mexico!
WOW! Just 2 mins in and I learnt so much new stuff! (Number 8 at the bottom is an actual thing we play???? and the half covered bottom 2 holes!?) All those years of music class on the recorder I never knew this! Thank you! restarting my recorder journey ....
I find very hard to perform the highest notes, I had no idea that was possible to go higher than the third C. And that note with your leg had my mind blown, never heard about this.
Hi Sarah! I was very impressed by your videos. Nowadays, I cannot go outside becouse of Corona Virus. So, I decided to learn playing soprano recorder by watching your videos. I ordered a plastic ya-ma ha recorder. I am very excited and enthusiastic. Thanks for your effort :)
Sarah you’ve shown us a massive 36 different notes! Aldo Bova recommended learning 27 possibly 30 notes since those really high ones are rarely played😱🎼 But I guess every note that can be played should at least be known and tried to be played! Thanks for this. It’s extremely useful😁🤩🙏
If anyone is in school and forgot the notes (Soprano recorder with 8 holes and without the 2 holes on the last 2 holes): Lowest notes to highest: Do (C) - 2:57 Re (D) - 3:12 Mi (E) - 3:24 Fa (F) - 3:30 Sol (G) - 3:41 La (A) - 3:52 Ti (B) - 4:03 Do (C) - 4:08 Re (D) - 4:20 Mi (E) - 4:34 Fa (F) - 4:42 Sol (G) - 4:55 La (A) - 5:05 Ti (B) - 5:20 Do (C) - 5:25 Re (D) - 5:44 Mi (E) - 6:00 Fa (F) - 6:04 Sol (G) - 6:11
This was extremely helpful! I've had a recorder since grade school and I just fiddle with it now and again. This video was great for practicing notes and comparing the soprano to the alto! I will definitely check out your other videos! Thanks!
BlueJay same for piano: Sees G sharp Presses down the g sharp key Recorder player: ummm let me just watch that video through again, or maybe I have a chart somewhere just a sec ah ok 0 13567 *squaark* ok nope what about 012 456 *squeek* lol. What that’s right isn’t it?
You're crazy. Guitar is hard AF! 😳 When I was a kid, I figured out how to play When The Saints Go Marching in, while in primary school, after watching girls do it in front of the school. I thought the recorder was a toy, not a real instrument 😳🙈. Anyone that can play instruments like violin or guitar, has serious skills in my opinion. 😎
Thank you ma'am for the 31 notes in the 3 octaves. I hope I can memorize them all as I play music while reading notes in the piano sheets. Thank you very much.
Ears ringing is a sign of hearing damage being done. Playing a (short) high note inside of a tune is one thing, but trying to learn it for any length of time quite another. Please use proper ear defenders to learn the high notes, tinnitus and overly sensitized hearing that hurts at some frequencies (oww) is no joke. Ear plugs are not sufficient here, but you can wear them WITH the defenders. Also to save your neighbors ears: drive to somewhere out of earshot of civiisation and play inside the car. For extra fun, get a decibel app and check out how loud you can get! (a tuning app also is useful when learning this)
Trying to help my fellah learn to play his clarinet I picked up a recorder for the first time in over *ahem 45 years and realised I'd forgotten how to do the sharps and flats. Thank you for this, I needed it. How embarrassing.
So complicated. Omg.... I was a brass player (trumpet) and play piano, no idea if all wind instruments have so many configurations... love it tho, never knew this instrument was so complex.
You're amazing!!!!!!!!! I'm learning the recorder so that I can teach my kids at school. I wasn't much good at the recorder growing up... This was a life saver!
I just got a recorder for the first time in 11 years (I used to play in primary school like most people) then stopped but just decided I want to again. So this is really helpful because I remember a little bit but not much. Like I remember some of the patterns but not what note they are.
So about 3 months ago I decided to learn the recorder and since have got pretty good at playing a lot of songs but only the ones that don't involve those two double-holed bottom holes. I could never seem to reach them properly and they were just so annoying and awkward. I tried looking at various fingering charts and stuff but whatever I tried I still could not play those low Ds. Desperate, I decided to watch this video and the first thing she says is hold the left hand above the right.... Turns out I've been playing left handed all this time even though I'm right handed and everything I learnt was fucking pointless!
+TheTree0fDeath Ahhh! But don't worry, it's not all pointless- with a bit of practice you'll get used to the other way around quickly, and you already practising the blowing/articulatio /note reading etc a lot. That counts for something! 💪🏼
I am REALLY REALLY happy i found this video :) There are different fingering technique i did not know of, and now my recorder flute sound a lot better :)
My fingering of F in my soprano is 01234 and 0- 1234 for the next octave , if I switched into you're fingering it'll be an Fb. It really is depends on a recorder. :-)
0134 is the fingering I more commonly use too. I think it's what the fingering chart that comes with all the plastic Yamaha recorders says. Though as with most cross fingerings, exactly which and how many fingers I use depends on the instrument and musical context.
Toby Teng I was asking the same thing. I pick up my Recorder (Yamaha YRS 312B) and played both in the turner. The 01356 Bb sounded a very little higher from the right pitch. The 0134 sounded a little bit more closer to the Bb frequence.
Hey Sara I am living in Germany and play so many songs in a peculiar style in my channel. I admire you. You are an inspiration for me. I would like to meet you and wish you success in your channel :))
OMG when thirteen, our teacher said it has toughly 14 notes (2 diatonic octaves). With 33 notes, it can play anything!! I'm impressed w this discover, thanks for the great video!!💐
I used to play the soprano recorder back in elementary school over three decades ago, and I just ordered a Yamaha YRA-302BIII alto to teach myself the recorder solo of the famous Japanese song "Watarasebashi" (渡良瀬橋). This video will definitely come in handy once I get the recorder in the mailbox. BTW, Sarah, you should listen to "Watarasebashi" and perhaps do a tutorial video on it in the near future.
You most probably don't suck - but you might need a good recorder! There are a lot of toy ones about that will never sound right... Yamaha or Aulos ones are a good place to start!
Sarah, This is an excellent resource. I think the only way it could have been better is if it were a little bit slower and longer on the notes. That way a student, like myself, could match up the fingering and play the notes in harmony to see how they are doing. Maybe separate the two instruments? That would enable it to be a bit longer, but still within a reasonable timeframe. Thank you so much for posting.
Guys, for the soprano fingering of D#/Eb in the second octave, I copy pasted the wrong text! (this was a very, very long video to edit and my brain evidently had a momentary holiday). The correct fingering is 23456. In the video my fingers, the notes on the stave and sound are all correct, the text is just wrong. Thanks to those who pointed this out!
Nice job Sergio but take have some exploring to the following link which contains a really huge range of fingerings and alternative ones as well and also trills. And all this in fifteen languages. You will be amazed! www.recorder-fingerings.com/en/index.php

I never would have imagined I could unironically say, "I came here for Eb. I stayed for the 31 other notes."
She is Captivating!
Lmao I literally typed in TH-cam "E on alto recorder" and found this lol
I came here for F3 on the alto lol
Like many of us, I too learned the basics of the recorder when I was a kid and then let it go for no particular reason. Now, just for fun in my late 30's learning piano, recorder and drum. Who's here in middle of quarantine and just found recorder at home? 😆
Me huhu😂
😂😂Me and this is the first video I clicked and this is the first comment that caught my attention after scrolling past idk how many😂😂
Me too!
dude same, mine was form middle school 8 years ago
😅😅
I thought, recorders had only 7 notes!!! It turned out they have 24!!!(????)
3 octaves :)
Who knew
car5car5 I thought 11 lol
Well, technically, they have more.

Sarah, for Soprano Recorder, in 1st Octave (03:30), the F you mentioned in your video is: 01234 67, but there is some book who saids 01234. Are they both correct??
@@alfarosiarsita oh ok
good video, thanks for sharing, its very very useful. i thought recorder just can reach 1 octave.
I didn't know bottom hole can be effect on how it sounds, I thought I would just a hole for cleaning😂
Ya

😬 I am 55 and can't master the tenor clef after playing for almost all those years. Just the treble and bass clef were hard enough LOL
'Actually' I come from the ocarina and just wanted to expand my repertoire... No clue why I bought an alto recorder after getting hooked here!
Sarah - you did a brilliant job with your channel!
Thank you so much - and Greetings from Germany!
I had no idea that I could hit a high F or low B with the recorder. This was very informative! I still struggle with the high C and D
@Cad Bane general kenobi, you are a bold one. Cad Bane is at my service i see
Possible that you can get a few minutes this video
Sarah, your enthusiasm is contagious and encouraging. Thanks! 😊🎼 🎵🎶🎵
this video caused me to take my old recorder out of my closet and try some of this, you made me like the recorder more!, also, I got the recorder in my 3rd grade, because our schools (still has) had a music lesson as part of the education in 3rd grade, we all learned to play the recorder, and I always thought it is not a chromatic instrument.
thank you for the video!
You are such a sweetheart! thank you for making this video, I now can play the Pokke Village theme because I couldn't hit high notes. lots of love!
I just bought a wooden recorder and found this amazing great video to start. Thank you.
THANKS! SERIOUSLY!
You are welcome! I’m so happy it helped, and enjoy making music! 😄
@@techeddie9035 yes and it is tuned to D as well, thank you!
Thanks to your video I was able to make my own little book with pictures marked with the note names! 😁
Im a metal guitar player and this is amazing. Rhapsody brought me here : D
After almost 40 years of playing keys a picked up a re.corder to be able to use it as a breathcontroller for my amateur studio and now I am learning a new instrument from the beginning :) Fun fact. My re.corder has transpose and I could re-configure the notes, but want to learn the basics first.
Here's how you cover the range from recorder, Twosetviolin
I came here just to see how you work with semitones. Glad now I know about the low B on my soprano, thank you!
With this trick I can actually play one of my loved music sheets :)
Wow, all the notes on your recorder sound almost the same in quality, how do you do that?!
Practice baby!!

Thanks!
Such an incredibly helpful video! Thanks you so much!
Very helpful!, the amout of topics you've covered on the recorder is unparalleled.
I love this channel so much, I just found it yesterday and so many videos apply to me :) love from an aspiring 20yr old Australian recorder player
Yay, welcome!
OK I love the chanel
I'll try again sometime my landlords are not home, so they don't....idk, evict me or something because of the awful noise XD
I'm out of practice with my alto recorder, so my hands hurt now, and I really struggle with getting a clean sound on the lower notes!
When your a flute player and playing a recorder is a piece of cake I just need to learn the notes I haven’t played it since grade 4
This instrument is crazy versatile! ❤ Respect!
Had no idea there was this kind of range. Dang. Cool! Thnx, from California.
Thank you sooo much for this video. I have been searching for this info for months. You’re a star!

Playing the recorder is part of school but I wanna learn guitar that's why we learn the recorder
You're crazy. Guitar is hard AF! 😳
When I was a kid, I figured out how to play When The Saints Go Marching in, while in primary school, after watching girls do it in front of the school.
My ears are rang for 5 minutes after playing that high G
And my little dog ran away.
(a tuning app also is useful when learning this)
@@babsbaobab4322 i cant tell if ur reply is a joke or not cuz i was joking about my ears...
That's why my brothers annoyed me by hiding my sopranino when we were kids. I was always practicing on it.
It is the best video.
Now I feel more free to play the recorder. Of course, practicing a lot. Thanks a lot. greetings from Cádiz, Spain.

You're amazing!!!!!!!!! I'm learning the recorder so that I can teach my kids at school. I wasn't much good at the recorder growing up... This was a life saver!
Thank you so much for this video! I am just starting to learn and this is SO helpful!!
I just got a recorder for the first time in 11 years (I used to play in primary school like most people) then stopped but just decided I want to again. So this is really helpful because I remember a little bit but not much. Like I remember some of the patterns but not what note they are.
My god that's complicated and fascinating all the same. And I used to think guitar was complicated!
Thank you very much for sharing this understandable explanation
I find it helpful to slow the video to .5 speed to grasp the chord changes.
You can also hear what Sarah would sound like if she'd been drinking.
🤣
Oh my god thank you so much for this!! I’m picking up the recorder after almost 15 years.
+MDLKP PROPHECY It sounds like you have a German system instrument! Mone are for Baroque system pnes :)
This is amazing, the highest note I played was Bb. This video has opened my eyes
When I play a note on my recorder it always goes squeaky even though I'm covering the holes properly XD
xXCallumXx it might be on blowing air into the recorder. I could be wrong but try blowing soft air in your recorder
your fingers might be letting out a tiny bit of air. it's enough to make a difference
SAMEEE
I lose hope when I play on the C and the sharps and flatsss send helpppp >_
After this video I bought a recorder. I need to learn this thing. Thank you for opening up a new world of possibilities for me!
Hi Sarah, I play the Bb on my soprano recorder using 0134 instead of 01356 is it alright? Sometimes I play the note using 0234.
That's also fine! Bb has multiple fingerings - 0134 is slightly lower that 01356, so use whichever is more in tune for your instrument or situation.
Thank you Sarah, Alex and Christiano for your replies! I learnt something new today.
Toby Teng - I use the same fingering as you - the 0234 is useful for trills as is 023 for trilling on B
Hey Sara I am living in Germany and play so many songs in a peculiar style in my channel. I admire you. You are an inspiration for me. I would like to meet you and wish you success in your channel :))
I thought my recorder was out of tune :/ then realized that the sound differs depending on how hard you blow.
OMG when thirteen, our teacher said it has toughly 14 notes (2 diatonic octaves). With 33 notes, it can play anything!!
I'm impressed w this discover, thanks for the great video!!💐
Aw, your teacher was probably well meaning but misinformed!
Everybody is a gangster on the recorder until they start playing the f note and above!
When that moments of calm appeared my TH-cam got closed and It all went to my Home screen.. 😅.. very good lesson.. love you...
She's like the Katie Flute of Recorders
Exactly!
BTW, Sarah, you should listen to "Watarasebashi" and perhaps do a tutorial video on it in the near future.
it's either I suck or I need a new flute
You most probably don't suck - but you might need a good recorder! There are a lot of toy ones about that will never sound right... Yamaha or Aulos ones are a good place to start!
Bostic Reiva recorder not flute
Bostic Reiva recorder or flute?
Bostic Reiva lel
maybe you need a new better quality flute, mine does not play FA diesis very well for example
I"m a big fan of Sarah's now. She has really helped me enjoy this process of learning a musical new skill pretty late in life.
6:46 is when alto fingerings starts
I’ve been trying to get back into recorder and this video helped a lot.
I think my sapranino just went through puberty!!
Heh.
Well, it's a really helpful video nonetheless! Thanks for taking the time to make it!
no problem, big fan ;-)
