LEGO 31102 3 in 1 Fire Dragon Digital Speed Build and Review

This LEGO 31102 Creator 3 in 1 Fire Dragon set has a really nice fire-breathing dragon, a sabre-tooth and a scorpion. With these 3 in 1 sets you have to choose which model you want to build or do each one in turn. Alternatively you can have fun building all 3 digitally with Bricklink’s Studio program as I have here.

Review
I wasn’t sure about the color scheme before I started building this set, but as I’ve built it all 3 models have grown on me.
I especially like the dragon head and fire parts. Although, is it even a dragon??
Dragons normally have 4 legs and 2 wings so this is actually a Wyvern. Seems Game of Thrones made the same mistake. I looked it up on the internet so it must be true!
Ok so let's rename the set Fire Wyvern and we’re good. The front limb is now just part of the wing, like a Pterodactyl, I’m just not sure if 2 claws are enough. I’m also not sure about the shoulder joint which is a basic hinge joint and the elbow joint which allows full rotation. Wouldn’t it make more sense to be the other way around? Also the body and scales down the back seem a bit lacking compared to the size of the head and the feet seem a bit blocky and thick. Also the treasure chest is a nice touch.
The sabre tooth seems well designed it’s just the color scheme that I find a bit of a mix up. The blue and grey joint parts being particularly off-putting. Also the tail looks a bit weird but overall this is a good B model.
The scorpion is the weakest of the 3 designs with the legs looking short and in-flexible. The claws are big and eye-catching but the dark blue just seems out of place to me. The tail looks weirdly boxy in places to me.
Overall although there is still room for improvement I still really like this set and I’m sure we’ll see a few nice alternate designs emerging over time - so look out for these on Bricksmart Workshop!
