Not me saving this video to favorites! I always have such lofty goals for Mondays and then rarely ever get the momentum I need to carry me through that day and into the week. But watching this now, I feel so motivated to go for a walk, write down my to do list, and get some writing done! And I need to try whatever that drink was! Also, re: the fairy lights. I made a loop with the strand and twisted a section around itself to make a ‘sturdy’ crown shape and then draped the long ends down my shoulders. It was very involved 🤣
First of all, love Romancing the Beat. You’re definitely right though that if someone is an avid reader of romance, it’s easy to subconsciously already have the beats in your story, but it’s a good reminder. Monday’s differ for me depending on whether I work from home or not that week. With school starting I don’t normally get any writing in until the end of the day after I have done any necessary schoolwork. My favorite day of the week is Thursday. I’m usually weirdly productive and it’s that promise if it almost being the weekend that feels nice
I really wish I could focus full time on writing. I really struggle to focus after my day job and my writing ends up being of a lower quality than I'd like. Thanks for sharing your writing journey.
I totally understand! When I was working my full-tume corporate job, I either (a) didn't have time after work since I was putting in hours even on the weekends and on vacation or (b) when I did have time, I was so mentally exhausted, my brain couldn't even think of creative things. I tried doing NaNo and wrote more then than any other time but it was still tough. I always tried to remind myself that slow progress is still progress and that the quality will get there with time and revisions! Sending you all the luck and good vibes and I'm always here to commiserate.
Just wanna say - you got me on passion planners, and I just finished my first daily one and starting a second! I love them and they've been so helpful to my mental health, self care, and routine building. So thanks for that!
Happy Monday! I am dividing my attention between this and a short report for a client. I have a 35 hour a week job plus two freelance clients. This is a normal Monday for me now. My favorite day of the week is Saturday, because I don't feel any pressure to get ready for next week and Saturday's are movie night. When I find myself behind schedule on my fiction writing I just remind myself to treat it like a hobby and make up for some of the missed writing time when I can. For me, this usually means extra fiction writing on weekends. Given the job and the two freelance clients, this pattern is unlikely to change very much.
Good morning, Kate! This was such a nice video to wake up to on Monday morning! For me, Mondays usually involve waking up early and drinking lots of coffee (today's choice is an instant Starbucks pumpkin spice latte) with breakfast (a pumpkin chocolate chip muffin for this morning) while catching up on TH-cam videos. I have one class in the mornings from 11:30-12:00, and today has a schedule change that doesn't normally happen which will require me to go to my university campus in order to meet up with my group from one of my classes, which we are only doing because we have a project due tomorrow. Mondays are usually a really productive day for me in terms of writing, since I'm home pretty much all day, so I can do my usual writing sprints between 10:00-11:30 and 1:00-2:30. Wishing you a very productive day today!!
I actually really like Mondays because they are a new week and a new start. Since I work a 8 to 5 job, my morning routine is essential for my mental health. I wake up and take a walk with my spouse where we talk about the things we've been reading and watching. (Right now it is local politics because we have a city election this fall.) Afterwards I shower, and eat breakfast. Then I sit and write. I have 30 minutes set aside for this, but I count it a win if I do at least ten minutes. Currently I am revising a short story.
1000% agree with everything you said about running. This year I finally gave up on it through Texas summer & have fully embraced it as a seasonal activity, where part of fall becomes getting back into it. Very pleased with that choice.
Mondays I work 8.5 hours at my job so I don't get a lot done with my goals, which really drains my momentum for the rest of the week. But Thursdays are great because a lot of writing streams happen that day that I can use to catch up.
I'm noticing a little pattern for Thursdays! Bahaha. I totally understand the momentum drain of Mondays. When I was working my corporate job, I tried to start non-work goals on Tuesdays, just accepting those Monday blues. (That hack helped a liiiiittle bit.)
I'm the same during the week work kills me. I tried to take leave in November for nanowrimo but wasn't allowed as we are too busy. I have no ide how I'm going to do it!! Are you taking part??
Watching on a Friday! Lol. Thank you for taking us along to see how you're doing. Watching this vlog a bit late. Find Mondays very motivational. I'm also like you by setting goals and then reevaluate or reprioritize them. Change them around.
Working a 9-5, Monday’s are just working and daydreaming of Thursday. Usually Thursday to Sunday are days that I’m not so busy, so I can get to “my” stuff. Thursday and Friday afternoon are my good writing days, although I try to get some throughout any downtime at work, usually a half hour or so throughout the week. Saturdays are wishful thinking days lol!
I kind of have a multi day system right now. At the beginnng of the month I look at my yearly goals and see what I need to and what I can get done. Then Sunday nights I set up my weekly list of tasks/chores/taking showers in my travelers folio. I also set up my med and water trackers and any appointments I have in my planer. Then every day I make a list of chores, writing tasks, and other stuff I need to get done. I set it up daily because my list depends on how I feel and what I feel like I can get done. I did my list for today last night and I am very tired and unmotivated to get started, I should also get up and try and do some of the things on my list.
I plan for the week ahead on Sunday nights, so Mondays tend to be my " try to do as much as possible so I can chill the rest of the week" day. I usually don't get a whole lot done because I work at my day job 2-10:30 at night on Mondays, so my actual "do as much as possible" days are Tuesdays because I'm usually off from work then.
I'm feeling quite motivated today so I'd say I'm usually a bit of a fan of Mondays. Maybe it's cos you can feel like it's a fresh start and try and work on those goals you've been putting off. This vlog reminded me that I've still got around 400 words to write of my own short story so thanks for the reminder :')
If you pour your new drink layer over the back of a spoon, it will keep it from immediately mixing together! I think ice would have to go in after you take the insta pic tho
I was wondering if you could do a video about how you make/ a day video about the youtube side of your days. I want to get into author tube and was just wondering how you set up video clips, what software you use for editing, and how to set up your live streams. Maybe even some just things you have learned when it came to growing your channel and just what worked for you. Just something I would love to watch and just an idea.
I used to love Monday because I went to karaoke night every week, but the city in in now doesn't have karaoke Monday anywhere nearby (which, I don't think I'd be hitting up anytime soon, anyway). I'm in the middle of getting my Q4 goals set up right now, and I'm taking longer than I want. But I have a few days off soon, so I should be able to get it all caught up then.
Ooooh! I love those earrings! Also the shoulder dragon looks so cute omg! Becca is so talented 😍 I usually get most of my creative work done on weekends because I work during the week, but I save video editing for Monday and Tuesday evenings cause it’s easy to get through tick off so I do it on the days I know I’m going to be most tired 😅
Thank youuuuu! AND RIGHT. I don't know how she does it, she's so creative! That's a genius way to set things up!! I love having tasks that are like "quarter brain" tasks where I can do them even when I'm tired and/or multitask them.
Loving these vids, thank you for sharing your process! It’s such good motivation fodder and the best inspo for warming up for productive time! What weekly planner do you use? The layout looks fab! It can be such a struggle finding good planners!
I think this method for your goal sounds way less stressful and more manageable than your previous system. I wish you all the best during nanowrimo! ^_^ I'm curious, the romance novel you're working on, is it a classic type? With steamy sex scenes. If so, how does it feel to go from fantasy to that? I always have romance as a subplot, but I'm so uncomfortable with sex scenes. Do you have any tips to share? :)
What do your Mondays look like? And what's your favorite day of the week? My Mondays are my online class days for uni. So I'm working on assignment while watching this. What do you do when you're halfway through a month and realize you are veerry behind on achieving what you wanted? Honestly? I just re-plan the rest of the month. I always have my uni stuff first priority and then writing and other activities fall wherever there is time to do it. It sucks for the very simple fact of people judge my lack of progress on my novels but the other option is to fail out my senior year and I would rather not.
lol you look like your wiggling all over the place when you move in timelapse! :P haha you wiggle your legs a lot! XD lol this is really cool! :D you should definitely do more timelapses of yourself! :)
So I’m confused, are you published under the romance pen name and not the death project name, or is it you’re not published under the romance then project death pen name is published…?

Mondays I ease back in, spend my 30 minutes writing in the am, and then work my day job and go to class at night. 🙂
Monday is when I get the most done, I use weekends as breaks so I am refreshed and ready to work on stuff on Monday.
Just wanna say - you got me on passion planners, and I just finished my first daily one and starting a second! I love them and they've been so helpful to my mental health, self care, and routine building. So thanks for that!

Great video, I love Halloween!! My fave time of year - Halloween, NaNo, Christmas, New Year and then my birthday! 😂 anyway, loved the vlog!
