      THANK YOU. This is definitely not a healthy BDSM relationship. Nothing wrong with a woman being submissive or into pain, but it's all about being safe, sane, and consensual. Yes, I think the book is poorly written and it doesn't interest me, but I have no problem with it existing other than the fact that it seems to glorify a very dangerous relationship.

    • @uzimachi1
      @uzimachi1 10 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Natalie Rose
      Sadly it's the younger audience that needs to be warned about this. It condones abusive relationships and it creates an unrealistic image of a person who is a pure contradiction, as if someone who is obsessive and messed up is also caring and good. The signs he showed are from a very dangerous man who should be avoided, in real life it never ends well.
      BSM is a practice for consensual adults, but the abuse that comes out of this story has nothing to do with BDSM. It's the psychological abuse she goes through and how she just keeps coming back for more.
      It's scary more and more stories are written with this formula, first Twilight and now this.

    Why are all these haters commenting on this video?!! XD It just makes you look extremely stupid, since you went out and searched for a movie trailer on TH-cam that you supposedly "hate"!! XD That is sadder than any type of pathetic light you paint for the fans of this movie!! What actually makes people look like idiots is when they do things like use than instead of then. ;-)
      As purveyors of entertainment, and human beings in general, we all have a tendency to speak out on something we don't like. Personally, I speak out against Fifty Shades because I think it's offensive to women. Not because of the subject matter, but because it lends credence to those in our society who believe that women are undiscerning lesser beings who are easily swayed. Following the bland female character of Twilight was bad enough, but Fifty Shades is in a class all its own. I have no idea how any self-respecting woman could actually read and enjoy such a horribly written story that -- if we're being perfectly honest -- barely grazes the realities of the lifestyle that's on display.

    • @keet2113
      @keet2113 10 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I only watched this because Grace Helbig told me (and many others) to watch it with her. Absolute trash. You know why this deserves haters? Because it was entirely unjust for it to even be published in the first place. It was Twilight fanfiction, and even when it was only posted online, it wasn't great - so many other writers wrote much better fanfics, but she had the audacity to take a fanfiction and get it published. She couldn't even create original characters, she took Twilight characters and changed their names... oh, yeah, so original. Now, to make it worse, it has been made into a movie. Other writers just enjoy to write, and are grateful for the feedback they receive, especially from people who enjoy their work. Even if they are only writing fanfiction, that's the only recognition they want. I will forever be entirely disgusted with how this woman took it upon herself to publish this in hopes of getting money. On the whole, I hate how some people choose to write/make music/anything just for the money, but this was a whole other level. Even the best of people/things have had "haters", so why should this be any different?
      As a side note: Perhaps you should also realise that people are insulting the book/movie/author, and not one another. Maybe you kids should take that as a good example - rather than calling people "idiots" and "haters" for not liking something that you like, and expressing that in the comments of a video which they are allowed to freely comment on, maybe you should try growing up.

  • @xosabrina47
    @xosabrina47 9 ปีที่แล้ว +20

    Just finished watching Fifty Shades of Grey and I gotta say... the film was beautiful. Yes, I am using the word beautiful to describe this movie. I went into the theater completely prepared to be embarrassed because of how graphic it was supposed to be, but I was extremely surprised by how I actually felt. I watched all of the scenes that were made available and thought that it all seemed a bit awkward, but it was only because there was no background music or noise. Watching the actual scenes in the movie was a whole other experience.
    The movie is getting a really bad rep because of the bad writing and graphic scenes that are in the book that it is based on. However, the movie is not just a "sex movie" like everyone says. It's pretty hilarious and romantic. The sex scenes were extremely dialed down and they all served a purpose. If you thought the pointless sex in The Wolf of Wall Street was acceptable, then you would be more than okay with the content in this Fifty Shades. Before I watched Fifty Shades of Grey, I watched a lot of interviews with the cast of the film and was confused as to how they could possibly describe the sex scenes as being classy and elegant. But then again, all I had to compare it to were scenes from Game of Thrones, True Blood, The Wolf of Wall Street, etc... After watching this film, I can honestly say that I completely agree with the cast. There was nothing "dirty" or "wrong" about what I was seeing on the screen. Sam Taylor-Johnson, the director, did an excellent job with this movie. She made it very tasteful and easier to accept. This film could have gone in a very bad direction, but thank god it didn't.
    For those of you that think that this movie is glorifying abusive relationships, think again because I think that it actually empowers women. I'm sure that you can argue, with quotes from the book, that I'm wrong, but there are many differences between the film and the book. Let me remind all of you that the book is a little over 500 pages and the movie is only about 2 hours long. Obviously, they had to cut a lot of things out, including the blue string scene that I'm sure a lot of people are aware of. In my opinion, they cut out many of the scenes that were considered controversial. I watched the movie looking for signs of an abusive relationship, but I really didn’t see anything of that nature. In fact, all I saw was this confident and empowered woman that made all of her own decisions. She was not forced to do anything that she didn’t want to do. She wanted to explore Christian’s dark world and her own sexuality. You can argue that Christian abuses her physically and emotionally, but he does what she tells him to do. When she says stop… he stops. When she says that she wants more… he tries to give her more.
    Moving on to something lighter, the comedy in this movie is on point! There were many “laugh-out-loud” moments that gave the movie a lighter mood. Those scenes were there to show that Christian and Ana’s relationship was not all dark and serious. I mean they are both young people in their twenties that should be having fun!
    Dakota Johnson gave a phenomenal performance and did everything right! She was confident, awkward, shy, and funny all at the same time. Jamie Dornan also did an amazing job as Christian Grey. They had great chemistry.
    I guess what I’m trying to say is that you should give the movie a chance. If you hate the book, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you will hate the movie. I have read many reviews, written by skeptics, saying that they ended up loving it. Don’t let the bad reviews or even the book itself stop you from seeing the movie. I was not disappointed at all with the finished product, even though they cut out a few scenes that I loved. It is perfect just the way it is.
    (I apologize for any grammatical mistakes... Unlike Ms. Steele, I am not an English major)

    Why do guys keep coming here to comment nonsense stuff? Saw a lot of comments disrespecting women because we rode the books and you're saying that we just want some porn.
    Well, it's not because of porn or even the story, most of us (me including) are attracted to the fantasy of Christian's character, I mean, who doesn't want an attractive guy who only wants to take care of you, and give you every single thing you've always wanted and even things you couldn't imagine?.. All of that just to see you happy. But as I said, it's only a fantasy, we know guys like that don't exist and we're completely okay with that, but don't come here saying that we're stupid and we don't have any sense of decency as if you were not excited everytime you're on the internet looking for porn videos or when you go to strip clubs. You're saying that this is not a good movie and doesn't have any art? Well, who told you the books were about art? The movie was made for all the fans who wanted to see the characters taking life, not to get an oscar for best actress and director. If you don't like that then don't watch it or waste your time commenting mean stuff.

    I'm honestly ashamed that this book sold so well its becoming a movie. I'm more ashamed that women (and maybe some guys) will actually go to see it! It's basically soft core porn. People will try to justify it by saying, it's about love and has a message about morals or something of that nature just so they don't seem like perverts.

      Somachi O No, go ahead but I think the only thing you should have sexual intercource or in this case, sexual fantasy over is your spouse. Also, the definition of 'Pervert' is "A person whose sexual behavior is regarded as abnormal and unacceptable." So I think it is perverted to have sexual fantasy over something or someone who is not your spouse.

      Somachi O You are missing the point. You should not engage in sexual activity outside of marriage. That means, if you don't have a spouse, you still should not have sex or sexual fantasies until you get one and then have fantasies about your spouse (if you get one).

      I really don't get it either. Christian Grey isn't even sexy, sure, he looks good but everything about his personality is disgusting. He only wants to control Ana, he sees her as an object. In the book he literally has all the signs of a serial killer.
      There's nothing wrong with BDSM or women wanting to be dominated for kink, but this book isn't about a sexy dominant - it's about an abusive asshole who likes to hurt women under the facade of BDSM. Even their fucking marriage is just a way for him to control her, he SAYS so.
      The book offends me on levels I don't even think I fully comprehend, and the fact that people love it so much is... Really sick.

    Christian never ignored a safe word at any point during the book. Anastasia did not use the safe word when her limit had been met. You can say for different reasons why she did not. One reason could have been she felt that she needed to endure it so that the relationship could work because of her desire to give him what he needed. A second reason could be that she endured it because on some deep level she felt that enduring the pain helped him cope with his pain, i.e. I will help you carry the burden. The third reason that was expressed in the book was that she forgot. My suspension is that her failure was a combination of the first two and memory lapse is a very suspect reason.
    I stated to read it because a girl at my work had it and I started to thumb through the book. I am not a chick flick book reader but I found this one to be very in depth. It is at the very least a reflection on how trauma in your past can have deep life long affect of your relationships. I find that to be very spot on.
    If you do not like it do not read it or watch the movie. I must say that I enjoyed it.

    Ok, before you guys call me crazy or some boring single mom or teen who secretly read the books, there is actually a love story behind all the... Wahoo-ing shall we say. Christian is actually incredibly sweet and needs control but over time Ana helps him. She shows him the world. Dominants and Dominatrixes do exist; it's just a sexual lifestyle that has gotten more popular. No, Christian has never abused or raped her. Ana has always obliged to wahoo with him, and when he does go too far in his dominant lifestyle, she always tells him. That is what they most commonly fight over. She even breaks up with him at one point. But she comes back because she loves him. The whole book is a dang monologue about their unconditional love for each other. Before you try to reply with a hateful comment, make sure you've read the books so I won't have to contradict you. Although I always pictured Ana as Anna Kendrick (haha wonder why), I'm glad Dakota Johnson got to play this role. I hope they can capture the love and struggle as best as possible.

    This is a story about a predatory man who stalks, threatens, and abuses a young
    woman, emotionally manipulating her into doing things she's clearly not okay with,
    openly disregarding her not wanting to do things, and straight up raping her on several occassions.
    This is not an insight into "kinky stuff" or an accurate representation of anything having to do with BDSM - it's an illustration of an abusive relationship which people for some reason consider romantic and erotic.

    • @Drag0nzeyes
      @Drag0nzeyes 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Twilight was, in a critical perspective, a romance novel about an oppressive relationship between Bella and Edward. For instance, he separates her from her friends and introduces her to a new culture. Between Fifty Shades of Grey and Twilight, both novels share common ground in male domination over the willing submission of a woman.

      IDK why many women find this book erotic. Honestly, I liked the trilogy, but I took it for what it was. It was book about abuse, about a boy who was far too young to have been dragged into the "BDSM" world and who eventually ends up doing the same thing to Ana. I liked it because putting the bad writing and the bad representation of BDSM aside the story is a disturbing one that makes you question the many types of consent and what constitutes as abuse in our society.

    Having not read the book, this to me seems like the X-rated Twilight for older women. Helpless damsel is in awe of a strong man with a dark past and they share secret, except this time instead of him being a vampire, its him being into hard core bondage.

    *Fool's paradise: The stable times we are in will pass, because it is the nature of nature to change. As sure as the world will keep turning, something will happen, and our true nature will reveal itself. We have to make the transition before it does. We are living in a fool's paradise, in a castle made of sand, in a house of cards, and the wind is starting to blow. People think it will never happen to them, when it is certain to happen, when it has happened to you many times in your infinite past.* Do you want to know the truth of life and death and transcend the animal realm? Finally someone uses her brain!!!!!!!!!!!! I agree with you! this is more about a love story than the sex scenes!!! Many people are just criticizing and saying that all those who read these books are stupid and only read these books and nothing else.... I've read many books and I don't find these are bad! actually the story is really good!!! and it seems like the movie will be good as well! .... so those haters: STOP REPEATING WHAT PEOPLE SAY AND SHUT UP YOUR MOUTH!...

      Love and feelings? NO WAY. Christian Grey is HORRIBLE. He forces Ana into sex that she is CLEARLY uncomfortable with (consensual sex is very important). If you want to have a sexual relationship that involves BDSM, you have to at least make certain that both parties are 100% comfortable in the acts they are doing. Ana was never 100% comfortable, because Christian kept forcing her to like whatever he was doing.
      I know that girls fawn over Christian Grey because "He is SO TOTEZ HOT", but imagine if he were very unattractive. Him forcing you into his weird BDSM fantasies doesn't seem very attractive, right? It's practically rape.
      You're allowed to like it, but I'm just pointing it out that this is NOT a story of "love and feelings", but of a plain as toast girl in a relationship that is NOT consensual.

    • @detronyx
      @detronyx 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I read all 3 books. They are terribly written. The first one doesn't even REALLY go into BDSM (I think the worst things that happen are her getting tied, and he spanks her a bit). Words are repeated A LOT (murmured, muttered, "peeked up", "found his release", etc). In the movie, this last thing won't be present, so we as viewers may actually suffer less by watching the movie. Yes, the sex scenes are hot...but the rest of the book falls flat. I didn't feel for any of the characters. I didn't get scared or anxious when something bad happened. The characters are poorly developed and there's little to no real backstory.

    When a horrible fan fiction gets made into a movie is when you know that cinema is now about money rather than passion and creativity. Mind you, this book became famous due to its raunchiness and raciness, if it wasn't for that, it wouldn't have even trended. " OMG IM GONNA READ 50 sheds of grey out loud and put it on utube!!!!!!!"

    This book paints an unhealthy picture of what a good D/s relationship should be. The sub is always in control even though it doesn't seem it. In this book, Christian coerces Ana, ignores a safeword, and gives her no choices in anything. Even when she's clearly not having a good time, he just keeps controlling her life. That's not D/s. That's abuse in a D/s costume which so many guys will try to do. People who don't know any better see how Christian acts and think it's a good, healthy, kinky thing.

    • @pyramidtrader1
      @pyramidtrader1 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

I must say that I enjoyed it.

      pyramidtrader1 i like the book. And i dont enjoy books about love and stuff. The book was recommended by my friends. But you gotta admit, the book is great. In the first book i thought christian was a sadist, which turned out to be true but he's changing to a better man. You gotta admit the d/s part are just in the first book. Later on, it's just about love.

      @kelseyyoung6154 9 ปีที่แล้ว
