Count me in! Mendelssohn has been relatively unfashionable since the middle of last century but his music, not just this piece, has a quality of being able to pull at the heart strings and a certain grandeur which makes it special and underrated.
The band played this all day Monday for Queen Elizabeth II and it was beautiful and is the perfect tune to help you stop and reflect. This orchestral arrangement is very moving.
This piece, with its grand soundscape, punctuated by Big Ben's tolling and the artillery salutes, was in my opinion the most fitting item to send her Majesty off to. It has a grave sense of finality within it, while also having soaring notes of imperiousness, befitting for somebody who is arguably one of history's most notable people.
It was honestly incredible to watch I had never seen something so solemn and respectful, yet incredibly haunting, it felt very weirdly surreal A very grand closure for sure
I've listened to the piano version of this piece several times following the Queen's funeral. Your orchestral arrangement is excellent. Can you let me know where to obtain the score? I would like to arrange it for brass ensemble and possibly Wind Band. I tried to find your email address, but could not see it in your header. Thank you for a great arrangement!
I could provide you the score but you would need to reduce it for your wind band. If you let me know the instrumentation I could do an arrangement for you.
I struggle to discriminate the funeral marches no3 of Mendelssohn vs. Beethoven (Walch). Could someone tell me by which composer the march in th-cam.com/video/RBqYOcxAsDY/w-d-xo.html (Procession of the Lying in State) is? It sounds so similar to this (Mendelssohn) but I was told it should be Beethoven/Walch...
@@Zawiedek Thank you very much! I didn't notice that the melody heard is a medley or mix from two different marches... No wonder that pieces sound very similar to marches from Beethoven AND Mendelssohn !
HM The Queen's funeral procession from Westminster Abbey to Wellington Arch on 19 September 2022 brought me here...
It was interesting to hear it in its proper context.
@@Durbelethwen Thanks
私も~いい曲だね
Me too
And me
I have struggled to get this tune out of my head since the funeral for the Queen. It is haunting and beautiful at the same time.
Me too!!!!
Me three
Shall we make it 4?!?!
Same

The band played this as Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral cortège marched from Buckingham Palace to Westminster! So solemn!
Mendelssohn: for far too long an underrated genius.
Your orchestration of this piece is superb.
Thank you 🙏
This is a very beautiful arrangement, I fact my favourite on youtube so far, and a very beautiful and convincing sound.

Magnificent.
The Queen Mother and Margaret Thatcher's funeral processions brought me here.
I'm too!
I came here after watching the funeral of Her majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The music is absolutely amazing.
Also played during The Queen's funeral procession on Sept 14th 2022...
indeed a masterpiece😄

They played it recently for Queen Elizabeth II's funeral procession and earlier for King George VI.
Great arrangement and Scoring - NotePerformer gives a very real-sounding performance! Are the score and parts available anywhere for purchase?
Happy to provide them to you if you like - just flick me an email (should be in the about tab of this channel) so I can send them to you.
Hello I'm a young musical director and I would like to play this piece with my wind band. Can you please tell me where I can find the score ? Thanks

In the linked video, you first hear Beethoven's Funeral March No 3. The Mendelssohn piece (Opus 62 No 3) starts at about 2:09 until the end.

I have the same problem with the funeral march from Beethoven's 12th piano sonata in A flat.
