Everyone of us had a memorable childhood going on a trip in summer vacation mostly at our relatives.
For upcoming generation Indian Railways will just be a medium of travel. For us it was all together a different feeling.
Before traveling date our excitement used to be on peak that we couldn't sleep.
Those were the days.
We actually used to enjoy the train journey more than the destination where we were going, specially the sleeper seat where everyone experiences the actual happiness, taking with other passanger and enjoying there stories and jokes as well, Upcoming generation will never understand why Indians still loves trains

There's something about trains that no other mode of transport can beat ever. Be it traveling in them or simply watching them, makes you feel so alive and awed. That TADAK TADAK sound of the wheels on the tracks, the sound of the horn of an approaching express at full speed and the way it fades away as it passes, that typical Indian railway station smell, the sound of the station announcements and vendors, an evergreen thrill. Trains always make me feel like a child, wide eyed regardless of my age. Personally I prefer the open window non AC sleeper coach, with the wind on my face, staying awake all night while everyone else sleeps ❤️

Distant lights particularly of tungsten bulbs which come from some huts or earthen houses give a unique feeling.. Their hide and seek behind the trees and bushes take us to another dimension

Recently travelled by Gatimaan Express from Gwalior to Delhi , and inside the train displayed speed was 160 KMPH , and still the train was very stable . Also cleanliness was maintained well . Good job Indian Railway !!😀

I love it that there seems to be a sub-culture or underground fans movement for short videos of awesomely fast trains flashing by unknown railway stations. @@kraig800i I get your point. But, I've been to that place daily for near 3 years. Station is not designed well. For people coming from certain direction they have to come over rail line and also using stairs will add a long distance. What they can do is to block all paths coming to platform without stairs.
A slight imbalance by the last guy while climbing up the platform would have ended up him being shreded into small pieces..

I once worked with a chap, a little crazy & unpredictable...Some years later in an entirely different country, I was working with somebody else who happened to come from the same Indian village as this chap I had previously worked with.
He explained the slight craziness & unpredictability in the chap was caused many years earlier by him saying goodbye to his wife & 8 year old daughter as usual before going off to work. The mother as usual walked the daughter to school which involved crossing an express line railway tracks, & unfortunately that day she misjudged her timing & speed of the oncoming train. 🙏😢🙏

I seems fastest due to camera angle which is approx 28° tilted that's why it seems that train is tilted over track and it's not due to speed it's due to wind particles collide with it in such a speed that it cause dust in both side along the track. Gatimaan Express is India's first semi high speed passenger train, arguably faster than fastest train that has maximum permissible speed of 160 kmph(sometimes it touch 180kmph). It was launched in 2016.

U must have forgotten to read the terms where I had mentioned 'MAXIMUM PERMISSIBLE SPEED', which means they have to obey the speed restriction rules and regulations. Our trains are way longer than foreigners trains. They are going through lot of juntions n stations where our trains have to go slower than the speeds at which they're meant to travel, due to sharp turns, being a junction, crossings, reconstruction, rail lines crossing main roads, rail lines near village area sides, list goes on. For eg. A train travelling at its max permissible speed of 80kmph on an avg may have to cut down the speed to...around 40-50kmph or so as the case is. Speaking of village area sites, the human settlements (especially the children near the rail tracks), forces our Indian Railways to restrict the speed up till a specific speed. Thus again impending a smoother operation. Get that in ur thick head, our country is the world's second largest country in terms of poputaion with 1.4 billion people including u moron n alongside world's largest democracy n 7th largest country. So don't compare India with other countries like Japan, France. The Indian Railways have to stick to the speed limits rules n regulations for the civilians' safety. And this is why our goverment is not interested in making high speed rail tracks.

Its very dangerous to cross the tracks even if the train is far away as with human eye you just cannot predict with what speed the train is currently travelling by looking at it, it may seem that it is travelling slow but it can reach within 2-4 seconds if its travelling at above 100 km/h. So if you hear a horn instead of crossing it quickly observe for a couple of seconds whether its coming at a high speed like above 100 km/h or not if its not then only cross the track otherwise if you are not sure even 1% just wait a couple of minutes so that the train can pass.

To the person below who calculated the train speed at 165km/h that's still faster than the trains in Australia. We average 80km/h down here.
165 km/h is the Top speed...ave is much less...Australia is not behind India...at least as long as they are working to improve the train system as India is.
