Today I'm going to show you why its one of the most powerful weapons you can use late wipe. So I was doing the punisher part 6 quest, which required 15 SVD kills on any map but factory. Being the evil person I am, I thought Customs would be a good idea since typically people with lower tier armour go there. This gun is super loud though, and I didn't want to run a suppressor because its not that useful if you’re pushing for medium range combat, so I had to keep myself on the move. I prefer it this way though, it attracts more attention and the gun feels lighter, its snappy.
This gun may seem expensive at first glance, 70-90k just for the gun alone is pretty expensive, but you have to consider the amount of damage it can do, its semi auto and can punch through most chest plates with 2 shots, and most helmets in one depending on the ammo, so if you’re starting this late wipe late.. give this gun a try as soon as possible. It's all about positioning, it's subtle. These guys with 1000s of hours get to a spot quick. Know who to move, where to look and do it fast and wait for us timmyies to come creeping along. Just keep playing. It gets better.

There's nothing to talk about honestly. Just the same things of all the "beginner video watch this" type of videos are needed for new players. There are no unlocks besides one at lvl 14. The game doesn't even begin until level 15, which is fucking stupid. So as much as everyone would like a 1-15 lvl guide I mean, There's not much of the game available at that point there just isn't. So grind it out to 15 and start watching videos. This is one of the only games I've ever played where the game doesn't tell you shit so you have to watch videos for the people that are min maxing shit and dig into the data..

I just killed a lvl 42 PMC as a lvl 4 SCAV earlier with a baby mosin... I FEEL EPIC ! (Side note: He actually had good armour - a tier 6 helmet and a tier 5 armour)(I think I just describbed EFT in 1 sentence :)
Good shit, really is a good feling.
Helmets are overrated.
They are expensive, and if you want sound you cant run any of the helmets that actually protect you from other pmc's.
Faceshields might save you from the odd shotgun, but generally helmets are not worth it.
Use them if you have them, but dont go our of your way to buy them.
Exception being if ur in a squad, and say you run the heavy lvl 6 helmet and vest, and u have atleast 1 squadmate who is running a headset, and being ur ears.
Ive done that a few times, and its pretty fun to charge people with it.
I've only gotten 6 PMC kills all wipe so far, all of them 30+ levels higher than me and every single one was a cheeky headshot with buckshot or an uncontrolled spray. Tarkov giveth and Tarkov taketh, though mostly taketh.

I know this is a year old video but it unironically helped me. I bought the SVD and killed a duo on woods after a 9x loss streak. It’s far to late in the wipe for the m855 I was trying to use 🙃

my late wipe 🧪 Wabs Rat 🐀 secret weapon .. the lvl50+ BEAR tags just magically show up in my secure container with an SVDS in my paws.. with the right build you can even suppress it and leave your hideout with about 15 ergo remaining.. which is immediately cancelled out by your RYS-T and THOR-IC !

Always loved the SVD, im sad that it isnt as cheap as it was before (several wipes ago now) but if you shoot a lot, the ammo is 60-50% of the price for the equivalent 7.62x51 round (ps ~= m62, SNB/BT ~= M61) and you can get more of it per restock. If you can play around the lack of ero the thing has its surpizingly cheap to run assuming you can survive a few raids in a row with it.
its a shame its not as cheap anymore, but some of the other top tier dmrs are way more expensive now, so i think it makes sense

I came late to tarkov couldn't find any good ammo with the ammo restrictions i ended up taking a SVD with PS Ammo it shreds

Only problem I have with this game is when anyone gets within a 100 meter radius of me, I suddenly have the urge to run away and quit the game.
Suppressors are only really good for night time use because of the good flash suppression properties. During the day I’d use a compensator. It will tame recoil where a suppressor does not in anyway.
I've given up on this game, I unloaded 3 mags into a scav with 60 hits and it didn't die.

I may be late to the party but not yet too late. SVD is bonkers. You can get the LYNX Stock Adapter at Skier 2 (for M4 Stocks) and the CAA XRG at Mechanic 2 for 10k.
Next upgrade would be the SVD Modernization at Prapor 3. I made a few runs now even with a 60 durability one for CQC on Customs and it worked like a Charm (3kills one raid) . Run it with 1 tenrounder and 1 twentyrounder with an aditional stack of ammo in my Securecontainer.
(got still 9 kills to go but man, favourite gun IRL doesn't Disapoint.

I get stick for using the x2 sight in loads of raids... I think it's great... CQB, Mid and even at longer ranges you can head tap a stationary target easily. PS.... Oh no, I didn'nt want to reload... reloads again
