The reason people are in tears is not just because of the music. It’s because in a day where division permeates our culture you are finding a way to bind us all together not matter race, denomination or political differences. We are united through music and worship of our great God!
Hardly anyone believes me when I tell them this: When I was in public high school in 1959-1963 in New York State, we all got to school on Wednesday morning , took attendance, then we all boarded school buses again. The Catholic kids were taken to the local Catholic church, the Jewish kids to the synagogue, and we Protestant kids to the local Methodist church. It was called "Religious Instruction" and it happened every Wednesday morning. This Hymn was one of the many we learned and sang as a group, and we memorized Bible verses and the 23rd Psalm, The Lord's Prayer and others. My kids still think I made it up, but it was real. Does anyone else remember doing this?
@@patriciaglover703 Very true, we can certainly bring the kingdom of Heaven to Earth, like we should as Christians. Or Heaven culture, as I like to call it. But I'm also super excited to worship with all the Christians around the world in all the ages past, when we get to Heaven after we die. What a wonderful experience that will be! 🙌☀️🎶
But what about the people who stand against some popular ideas, such as transgenderism and gay marriage? Or the Christians who have been martyred? Google suggested that there were roughly 2.4 billion people who called themselves Christians. Isn't that a big number to be entirely made up of people who are afraid of each other?
1 A mighty fortress is our God, A bulwark never failing; Our helper He amid the flood Of mortal ills prevaling. Let goods and kindred go, This mortal life also; The body they may kill; God’s truth abideth still; His kingdom is forever.
Now so many more hundreds if not thousands can sing along and join with Martin Luther and David Wesley and the angels, offering praise unto God and doom to satan!! A greater cloud of witnesses!
Thanks from a life-long Lutheran familiar only with the original LCMS words. For me, this translation lacks some of the majesty, perhaps it's just not what I learned as a child! Luther wrote in German, originally, so it's all good!!....eg, v. 3, the blue book#262... "Tho' devils all the world should fill, ALL eager to devour us, We tremble not, we fear not ill, They shall NOT overpower us! This world's prince may still Scowl fierce as he will, he can harm us none, he's judged; the deed is done. One little word can fell him." Since childhood, I have wondered what word? ? And then I heard some scholarly guy on LPR claim Luther was asked that, too. He'd laughed and said "Boo!"
Revelation 7:9-10 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands; And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.
David.... just WOW I think that was the best virtual choir by far. A tiny picture of our future home... where the redeemed from every time, every nation, every color, and every age will sing with one deafening voice! May God be forever praised! Thank you for creating this, brother. We need to be reminded often of what is our true purpose - to give glory to God with our fellow redeemed!
Thank GOD so much David for your gift and for the memorial to Michael… a real man of GOD! Amazing and one of his favorite Hymns. He sang it many times. I pray for you and your family… GOD’s richest blessings. He is not lost, I know exactly where he is🙌🏻❤️🙏🏻🌹
