    Anytime I introduce someone to Marc, they're blown away by his ability to get all the nuances of Freddie's voice. Of course he sounds just like him in tone/timbre which is basically the genetic lottery, but it's studying/practicing the details that takes it from "he sounds a lot like him" to "is that Freddie?"

    If Marc would sound "only" like Freddie Mercury, I'd say: he's a lucky guy, who is blessed with a very similar voice. But that he can sing like so many other people proves: This man is a real artist, who works hard for this voice!

    • @ThatllShowEm
      @ThatllShowEm 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      And now I'm wondering if Chris and Marc got into that point at all - that Marc has been able to find other vocalists similar to his range and "borrow"/ learn from them and pick up those nuances that remind people of those other artists. George Michael and Eddie Vedder (though Marc might not want to revisit that era of his voice, lol) are two that come to mind.

Marc takes care of his voice, only occasionally smokes a cigar, and keeps healthy. Freddie would still be rockin today if he'd taken care of his health and made better decisions.

    Well, after having watched only 0:58 so far, I have to say something before continuing. MARC MARTEL, who I myself happen to be a fan of, won't be able to teach anybody to sing like FREDDIE MERCURY. What he's got, or the entire similarity of the both the voice and the ability of the performance, were inborn or given by the nature, which is in other words; a God's re-creation. Think of BRUCE LEE for instance, how many millions of Marshal Arts students tried to re-do what he did, but in his category there's no another (Marc Martel) or not yet. As far as I know, Marc didn't even know that Freddie existed, and he's a GEORGE MICHAEL fan. When Marc sings "Freedom" or "One More Try" he sounds very different, it's because again, he just simply has got Freddie' voice, even his speaking tone.
    But, because I also happen to be a massive George Michael & Queen fan, and because I take Marc for a great singer as well, I might consider enrolling his full course when it's released.

    • @chrisliepe
      @chrisliepe  2 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      You're right on so many levels! Even Marc talks about this in the videos we've done... Admits it fully... BUT there is a key difference between SOUNDING like Freddie, and SINGING like Freddie. We may not look like bruce lee or perform the feats he did, , but we can adopt some of the training and mindsets to enhance and enrich our own lives. That's what Marc's course is about!

      I think that is true in most of life. An open mind will always notice the similarities and still recognize Marc's vibratto is more controlled, pronunciation more precise and tone is thicker. Freddie's vibrato was irregular, and tone more pointed and compressed. Similar but different in truth. For those who want Freddie to be alive again it is exactly the same, and for those who want to believe Freddie is incomparable, they are nothing alike. I actually enjoy Marc's voice more than Freddie's.

    Okay, now I don't feel so creepy for always paying such close attention to Marc's facial expressions while singing. It's fascinating to me. I can literally watch a whole video mesmerized by how he uses the instrument so perfectly to adjust sound/tone, etc. Brilliant xo

      You people do realize that your stupidly praising a mimic who insults
      Freddie’s memory and legacy. Unbelievable.

      @carolhagerty4288 You sound a little angry Carol. Just a suggestion, if it's not something you enjoy, try not watching and then trolling through comments? I will continue my adoration of both Marc and Freddie regardless. Have a great day xo

    I’ve been trying to sing like Marc for the past 3-4 years and I feel like he’s able to turn his falsetto into strong powerful effortless chest voice sounding notes, if that makes sense. I’ve somewhat gotten there, growing daily. I’ll never stop trying to get to his level, I think it’s possible

    • @reginapetermann
      @reginapetermann 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Better try to sing like yourself. Imitating does not lead to the best results. Freddie Mercury was authentic. Being authentic means to find your own voice and not trying to model your voice into somebody else's.

      @@reginapetermann we all learn by hearing and repeating. Marc's first influences were primarily Jeff Buckley, George Michael and Eddie Vedder. All opera singers study the masters in order to better their technique. Marc is a master, well worth studying, just as Marc eventually studied Freddie.

    • @reginapetermann
      @reginapetermann 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@ToddandRaquiForrest In the beginning may be. But after some time you realize every voice and person is different. If you want to become a master too you have eventually find your very own voice and stop imitating. Every voice is unique and has to be developped and discovered within its own abilities. That's something you could learn from Freddie and Queen. Be yourself ... find and use your very own unique voice. You can even damage your voice if your idol is another voice register (it s a bit of the problem many male singers have with singing Queen . Freddie was a male Alto, too high for most men to sing in pitch without autotune), ... etc. Then you force yourself into the wrong direction and leave other voice qualities undevelopped. Which is a shame. That's my experience as a classical trained singer with a Master in phonetics. 🌞😘🤓

    • @reginapetermann
      @reginapetermann 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ToddandRaquiForrest One thing you can really learn from Freddie and Queen is how to open up your heart and soul by making music. Which is even easier if you have discovered and developped your voice as good as possible. Even then it can be quite hard. 😇😀🤩🎹

    • @reginapetermann
      @reginapetermann 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ToddandRaquiForrest You study the technique, the principals of singing for sure and adjust it to your own voice but especially in classical singing imitating the sound of a fully trained singer leads into the vocal break down. Find your very own voice and develop it. That's just how it works best. 🤓😇😀🤩

    Yes, I also like Freddie's style until the late 70s - early 80s much more!!! Softer, more elegant, more sophisticated, so to speak... And his former, androgynous image of the 70s is somehow closer to me, more understandable and dearer, or something... How beautiful he is during this period!!!... I admire these videos all the time, as well as I listen, despite quite a standard orientation. Although, of course, as a connoisseur of his Genius, I perceive all his images, but purely out of respect for him. And this period, after the 80s, I listen to him more than I watch, sometimes I imagine how he would sing them in the same way. And yet - there is such an aspect that somewhere since the 80s, Freddie almost stopped using his stunningly beautiful falsetto, for the sake of greater power and epic sound, preferring to change the melody of the song and take over with a shout. I'm not saying that it's bad, but the voice has lost something all the same... Of course, this is no criticism, but only an opinion. It's impossible not to love Freddie!
