100% agree. This store is becoming as basic and boring as all the other white and grey stores these days. No more wood trim everywhere, decorative tile, etc :(
One thing I’ve noticed-Macy’s decided to keep ALL floors of this legacy CA flagship store in SF’s Union Square OPEN-instead of closing off some floors like they did elsewhere when they took over former flagships of chains they had absorbed-and then CLOSED them altogether! Case in point-Macy’s took over my hometown Famous-Barr when they also took over its May Co.parent and they cut the former flagship from 7 floors to 3-then closed the whole thing 3 years later-10 years after May had replaced the antique Otis escalators(some WOODEN!) with newly modded Schindlers! What a waste!😱🤬
Me and my dad both fell down this escalator, first floor going to second. It jerked, yes it was under construction. No one could locate the stop button, I was screaming cut it off or mash the button while me and my 78 year old daddy tumbled to the bottom. No,I didn’t sue Macy’s, now that I see this video… I should have. Yes, we was on vacation.
That is unacceptable. You should have definitely filed a claim because there is no excuse for employees to have no idea where the escalator stop button is. You both could have gotten seriously injured and they're lucky you didn't. Sorry that happened to you guys
