Definitely one of the best, most faithful film adaptations of any book. The acting, set design, soundtrack, and writing all fit the Roald Dahl style so exquisitely while also clearly showcasing Burton's flair.
That's definitely worth pointing out. A lot of people dismissed this one as "just another grimdark Burton movie" forgetting that the original book is plenty dark and critical and it's the '71 version that deviates from the original.
THIS IS THE BEST VERSION OF CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY!
@@only257Bro Ronald Dahl hated the 1971 movie, his estate said he would’ve enjoyed the 2005 version though. This version is way better
@@only2571971 was awful there’s no way you like 1971 more than the 2005 version
I was laughing so hard because she memorized these lines and everything.😂
Despite growing up with the original I like this one better, it was done with a much bigger budget and it shows.
My favorite movie of all time! It's a very faithful adaptation of the book by Roald Dahl. I think it's better than the 1971 film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
Fun fact: they used real squirrels. They trained about 40 of them for that scene.
I've really come to appreciate this movie even more after reading the book since it has a lot of the things the 1971 version skipped over (like Charlie's Dad and the story of Prince Pondecherry) it's cool, plus this movie was in thw good graces of Dahl's family which is good I suppose
WHITE GOLD DEFINITELY ENJOYED THE MOVIE! She Knew every line!
People don't like this film as much as the original, but it's more source material-accurate, especially Depp's portrayal of Wonka. My only disappointment was we never got to see the sequel Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator, a really fun novel... would make a great movie.
Loved Jonny Depp in this. Great performance. Happy Birthday, White Gold. Sorry it's late to the reaction.
Gotta love Johnny in every role he plays ❤
It's a shame that people pan this film for being darker, and praising the other one. Not that it's bad, but that film isn't faithful to the book, and it's the reason why Dahl became VERY protective of his books ever being adapted again. And a lot of details in this film were not only lifted from the book, but given the good graces of the Dahl's family who said that he would have loved this adaptation.
One of the many good thing this film has going for it IMO is the fact we don't have to hear the whiney SCREECHING of Veruca Salt in WWATCF.
its wild how people don't like when movies aren't accurate enough to the book and when this one is people hate it, istg people are something else
RIP Denise Nickerson… the actress that played Violet in the original Willa Wonka
11:54, “She’s a Power Ranger in this one?!” Okay that’s funny. 🤣

Film fact: Steve Martin, Bill Murray, Jim Carrey, Robin Williams, Adam Sandler, Michael Keaton, and Will Smith were all considered to play Willy Wonka. Keaton previously collaborated with director Tim Burton on Beetlejuice and Batman(1989).

Happy Birthday White Gold
You know At that reunion with his father and how that movie gone so good, I was thinking of a good sound for those moments and the song I thought for it was, have you ever from the s club 7
People who hate this movie or are annoying internet Boomers, or Just people who hate the original Roald Dahl book.
Happy birthday! I turned 28 on Nov 3rd!
Happy birthday white gold
My childhood
Imagine if they showed Violet being juiced and they're just bouncing on her.
Some people say it's a generational thing, but it's really not. I know some Gen X that prefer this version and I know some Millennials/Gen Z who prefer the 1971 version. This version is more faithful to the book, but I can't get Gene Wilder's performance out of my head and he will always be Wonka for me
How are you guys gonna watch this before you watch willi Wonka and the chocolate factory... you skipped a whole movie.. please, guys.. do a little research on the movie order before you watch them..but besides that keep you the good work
All the oompa loopas are played by the same guy .
They need to make a Charlie and The Chocolate Factory horror movie. There's already dark undertones to the original. He's literally torturing these kids in all these ways lol
The one thing that I couldn’t stand in this movie were those kids. God they were so frustrating disrespectful and spoiled brats except for Charlie. He was literally the sweetest and beloved character in the whole movie and the only kid that Willy Wonka had a connection with. That stupid Violet girl had the nerve to steal his apple and eat it and called him a loser. That always pissed me off. I was thinking all five kids were going to be friends but obviously not.
LOLLIPOPS.
What is the language she’s speaking?
Charlie should've stayed at the Chocolate Factory instead of choosing to run the Bates Motel as some psycho
Why do I feel like Violet's mom uses botox?
Can you guys react to tombstone if you haven't seen it already it's an awesome movie with
Kirk Russell (Wyatt Erarp)
Val Kilmer (Doc Holiday)
Sam Elliott (Virgil Earp)
Bill paxton (Morgan Earp)
Michael biehn(Johnny ringo)
And a lot of other superstars
Willy Wonka is supposed to be awkward and sound awkward
I was not a fan of this movie. I prefer the original all day every day. Like I love Johnny Depp, but this has to be his weakest performance. It’s just he just did not capture the magic and charisma that gene wilder had. Like I’m sorry Gene Wilder is Willy Wonka. He will forever be Willy Wonka in my eyes. Nobody else will ever be better than him, and nobody will ever replace him. It’s just Johnny Depp made Willy Wonka look like an awkward dude like I know, people are gonna be like well that was the whole point because he’s technically like a child, trapped in a man’s body, because of his repressed childhood. But that’s the thing we’re not supposed to know anything about Willy Wonka. I liked him better when he was just this mysterious dude. I like mystique I like intrigue I like not knowing too much about certain things certain things are better left unanswered. Because that’s the thing I really don’t give a crap about Willy Wonka‘s backstory. And not only that, but this movie was just lazy with the representation of the Oompa Loompa’s. I mean you’re telling me that in 2005 they couldn’t find multiple little people to play the Oompa Loompa’s but they could do it in Germany in the 1970s when really they were hard to come across back in those days because of the holocaust and cause u see they also murdered little people too. But now, instead, they hire a fucking Indian dwarf to play multiple Oompa Loompa’s like they just copy and paste him all over the place with computer digital effects. It’s just laziness. Like I’m sorry that’s not a Oompa Loompa. Now the Oompa Loompa’s from the original now that’s a fucking Oompa Loompa green hair, orange face weird as hell. But the designs do look good and everything even the chocolate room. I mean it does look good but I mean what else do you expect from Tim Burton? He’s pretty good at that stuff. He’s pretty good at visuals and set designs. But really, that’s all I can say like there really isn’t much good things to say about this movie because it’s basically the same as the original. But I get it just more updated for modern audiences. But I’m sorry I’m an old soul and I have too much respect for the OG’s because that’s the thing nothing will ever be as good as the originals.
The things that were weird about genes Willy Had Tim Burton pushed it to the front which I kinda liked but I’m with you Gene wilder is Willy Wonka he’s an Icon paved the way for a lot and I think that Tim Burton is amazing at creating the eerie feeling almost like Sam raimi Burton has a signature the music the feel the vibe I enjoy his atmosphere in his directing. I always have he’s one of my favorite directors but I’m taking the OG all day long
@@snoopersgonnasnoop call me crazy but another problem I had with this movie was Charlie. Like I’m sorry the kid was too much of a fucking Boy Scout. Like that was the problem. He was too much of a good kid, Charlie in the original was a good kid too but he had flaws he would at times get angry, sad and even at times get greedy, and there was moments where he would complain. Charlie in the original for me felt more like real kid. But this kid in the remake could basically try out for Jesus. I mean he always does the right thing never thinks of himself, and despite his shitty home life, he never complains. I mean I get what they’re going for but it’s just a little unrealistic to me I mean, couldn’t they at least give him some flaws to make his character a little bit more relatable and sympathetic like what they did with Charlie in the original. Because I’m sorry, but no kid in the real world is never meant to be this bland. Because I’m sure in the real world kids who are in shitty situation’s would sometimes have their breaking points.
I readed your coment and i just found literaly 5 citations that are the same from the Doug Walker Review of both movies. If you wanna Tell your opinion at least use your own arguments, or it Just seems like a rewriting of the whole Walker review. Also, as i can see, you Just hate the original book, because everything you hate on the 2005 version are the same from that book (the 71 movie is merely inspired on the story. The 2005 movie is an adaptation of it.)
Worst remake ever made 😂
Whats her name
Happy Birthday White Gold 🎂🎉🥳🎈
People find this movie dark and creepy. Remember, it was directed by Tim Burton and stars Johnny Depp. Put those two together, dark and creepy is the vibe you're going to get from their movies
?? The original story is supposed to be creepy...multiple kids died lol
@@アキコ2003But the other kids didn't die in the book
@@アキコ2003the kids never died
But also, the original book from Roald Daul had a dark undertone with it. And the Daul family was the one that picked Burton because they felt he captured Daul's style of writer and the visual that could've been a twisted Dr Seuss world. Burton made this his passion project because he loved the book very much. Even taking many lines from the book along with Johnny Depp and if a line wasn't in the script, they'd rewrite it. Also, Willy Wonka in the book was very weird, odd, and almost had a childish personality and mindset, and even a bit awkward to those around him outside of the Oompa Loompas.
