I don't know how much you know about Yungblud's backstory but basically growing up he dealt with a lot of stuff from everyone because he was drawn to more traditionally 'girly' stuff/clothes and said he once had a woman come up to his mum in the street and basically tell her her like 11 yr old son shouldn't be wearing nail varnish and teachers (in their ignorance) embarassed him about that stuff, plus he has adhd and struggled with teachers at school because people found his behaviour too much. He got bullied a lot and said he used to runaway a bit. He basically said he got to quite a suicidal place with it all, and it's something that kind of carried on although starting Yungblud really helped. And he said he got confused because stuff was going so well but he was feeling so dark, and then he sort of had this realisation that actually he might be starting to love himself and that's where this song came from. The song is basically about that moment you say screw this I am going to sieze my life and live it and survive this and find acceptance. If you haven't you should look up his new album cover (Weird)- he said it's him finally embracing all different aspects to his personality and going with it. This song is really powerful for me.
Definitely 👍 The song is extremely hard hitting as is personally the song of this year (and my childhood trauma). I also have adhd and had a tough childhood and this gives me the feels every time.. I’m so glad he’s brought this song out. It’ll help a lot of people!
Dom (Yungblud) He said this about the song: this is the song that saftey pins the whole album together. it was the last song I wrote off weird! and it was written at 4 am the night before i delivered the album.i kept everyone in the studio all night, so to the boys im sorry. i felt the emotion coming up my back and was crying my fucking eyes out for the whole vocal take, i think you can fucking hear it. this song is for anyone laying awake at 4 am wondering why they cant break through the wall or why they arent good enough. we all get lost,we all find it hard to keep fighting and to be oursel es but we're gonna get through it together. I WONT LET MY INSECURITIES DEFINE WHO I AM🖤 he said it had to come out this month because it is suicide prevention month!!! and the song is about that😢😢 (the music video is out tomorrow!)🐻

Im not sure what his personal beliefs are cuz i cant remember if hes ever talked about this in interview... but the way i interpret the song is that god is whatever you believe in, whatever you connect to that saves you when times are dark whether that be religion or music or what have you. Could be wrong but it seems like usually when he uses god its more metaphorical than literal but either way this song is another banger... and i love that he writes about issues that actually matter
